Met my calorie count today...

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, so the past month or so I've been going through an emotional roller coaster ride. I just ate, and ATE, and ATE! Now, I'm trying to lose what I gained....and then some. :( I met exactly the amount of calories I told myself to eat today (1500 calories) but now I'm sitting here thinking...."ill just eat some oatmeal now, and save those 150 calories at breakfast..."

I know if I say this, I'll just end up eating like CRAZY. AGH.

"Saving" calories the next day isn't really a good idea.  You will just be hungry tomorrow!  You need to get a certain amount of calories every single day.  The diet will not work if you eat a ton of calories (not that 1500 is a ton, by any means!) one day and then starve yourself the next.  It will totally throw your metabolism out of whack.  And, you are putting yourself at a much greater risk of getting strong cravings if you don't eat the amount that you need to fuel your body.

My advise - if you've already had your 1500 for today and you still feel like you need to eat, eat something healthy, like fruits or veggies.  I am always surprised at how a small salad in the evening fills me up.  I also like having half an apple (just 40-50 cal. depending on the size of the apple) and slicing it up really thin.  This way, you get a lot of pieces and kind of trick yourself into thinking you're eating more then you are.

The above is great advice. While an extra 150 calories isn't so bad, try eating some fruits or veggies first instead. You'll be a lot more proud of yourself if you can stick so close to your goal for the day. :-)
I agree totally, and would like to add that sometimes if I have a mug of decaf tea sweetened with splenda or stevia it also tricks me into thinking I've had a snack...just a suggestion!

Wow... this is my problem too... only I did it.. and then when I reached my target calories, I was still hungry, and so, I ate some more.

The information says not to go less than 1200 calories, and so I chose 1300, but... I lost 2 lbs and then gained it back and after a month even on 1200 calories most days am not losing anything.  Today I spent most of the day with a stomach ache I was so hungry.  Today is the very first day I went over 1300.

I have COPD and can't exercise much, so it appears, there is no out for me. My calories burned and calories eaten are the same even though I am at the minimum.
