So I was sitting in my math class taking down notes, and making casual conversation with the girl next to me. We found out that we had calorie-counting in common.. and I discovered that she's in exactly the same boat I used to be in. She told me she eats less than 1000 calories a day--usually less than 700. She started ranting away at how bad she felt after having eaten a corn dog last night, and then in a note, she confessed to me that she had bulimic tendencies. She looks to be at a healthy weight but still wants to lose, and I just want to tell her to stop and eat more--I told her I lost weight by eating more, but she said she was so scared to eat a normal amount. At the same time though, she told me she was scared because she just keeps losing and losing and knows she has a problem but there's nothing she can do about it. I've never purged, but I know how she feels, and I just wish I could get through to her somehow. While I was talking to her I felt the way I think most of YOU must have felt while telling ME to eat more. And I can definitely relate to her doubt. But I honestly just wish I could bring her on here and all of you could reassure her just like you did for me. Without CC I know I'd never have DOUBLED my daily intake on my own, and I'd probably still be eating 600 a day--maybe I'd have even gone lower. I'm honestly very very thankful for what CC's done for me. Sorry for venting.. I'm really worried about her but I know it'll be hard to get through to her.

that's all.

i ended up upping my cals with this site, too. from 900-1000 to 1200ish.

i was afraid of adding more from 900-1000 too! i feel alot better at 1200 now. maybe 1300 too.
Thanks, revolution. I'm glad you posted. :)

I'm not sure, but maybe you can befriend her and help her the way we helped you. It's up to you if you feel like you want to try.

I've had anorexic friends in the past. It's really stressful, trying to help them without invading their privacy or pushing them away. And waking up each morning wondering if your friend is still alive is not fun (some of them were very thin, and obviously sick, pale, washed out, but their parents didn't seem to care). I'm so glad you're trying to get through to her instead of pushing her away, so many people do that with 'sick' people.

Keep trying, but naturally don't try to force her into anything, she has to want to get better or it will never work. I hope things turn out well.

tehlazykat--I know what you mean about others pushing 'sick' people away. I couldn't.. I'm just really worried about her and want to tell her that she CAN eat more and maintain a healthy weight, but I know how difficult that is to believe. I want HER to want to get better!
whats "mia"?
bulimic

LorikLorik; Short form of 'Bulimic', it used to be what pro-ED'ds would call bulimics, but recently it's become more mainstream as a simple abbreviation.
