Metabolism?! Eekk!
Okay, so I've been on this diet, or shall I say "new lifestyle". I consider this that because I love the way it feels and how clean I feel. But I've done this change. I started eating every 3 hours, smaller meals, 1200 cals. a day. But lately I've been getting hot hot after I eat. Its crazy, I feel burning hot, and I start to sweat. Then my vains on my hands start to go up and I can see them. My feel used to always be cold, but now they are super warm. I just feel so hot! Like right now as I'm typing this my hair is getting frizzy because I'm sweating. Ugghhh! Why?!
i dont know, i doubt any one here can give you a CORRECT answer.
isnt the obvious thing to go see a doctor?!!?
I'm not a medical doctor, but what are you eating? Have you looked for a common ingredient in the foods that are causing this? I've heard some people have reactions to things like MSGs where they're faces flush and they get warm. Are these meals heavy in carbs?
I also understand that some people can actually perceive: diet induced thermogenesis
Edit: Oh, just found this link too:
How interesting.. I have a similar problem. I've noticed that I tend to heat up when I've eaten something particularly high in carbs in a short period of time.
Okay, so I saw the links you posted to me. Very interesting.
This is an example of my diet for a day: Eating about every 2-3 hours
Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatmeal w/ soymilk
Snack: Banana w/ 5 wheat crackers
Snack: Peanuts & Raisins
Lunch: Maybe an egg with ricecake or apple
Dinner: Chicken breast, brown rice, or chicken meatballs with wheat pasta, or organic pasta or stuffed peppers and veggies, or chicken salad
And I drink water all day long.
I lost a lot of weight doing this. So it is working.
Goobyb- I think I may know the reason. I had been eating too few cals, and now that I'm eating the correct and healthy amount, my metabolism has been speeding up. Thank goodness....I don't know how you eat or not, but try eating more calories, it will do you really good. And now that I eat the correct calories I'm losing weight.

That definitely sounds like it could be my problem. Being stuck in the position I'm in with my ED, I still find myself undereating, or right at my lowest limit. All the more reason to increase the number of calories. :D
Unlike what that second article said, I don't heat up particularly in the face. It's mainly my chest and abdominal area. Not sure if that really makes a difference though..

Sorry, but I'm sure you're plenty aware that the min for teens is 1500 cals, so 1200 isn't a healthy amount for you. You have been told this several time. If you don't want to listen, then could you pls stop posting things like ''I eat 1200 cals, it's healthy for me and it's a correct amount'' ? Because some people may actually believe that the 1200cals is enough for everybody, including teens.
I tried to be nice, sorry if it sounds rude.
But to respond to your question, yes you're right. It happened to me. When I began to ate more, I started sweating a lot, especially at night.
Goobyb - I'm sorry to hear you have an ED. But just remember you can eat more, and you need the calories and eventually in the long run you'll be at the weight you want. Your health is more important to anything, so you should deff. eat the amount of cals needed.
your metabolism isnt doing summersaults. but you were eating 600-800 cals so any adjustment to your cals will reflect physiologically.
you are adamant not to eat the appropriate amount of cals recommended for a teen.
i think until you decide that you want to do this properly you should stop asking questions here. coz its really pisn everyone off.
Eating more frequently speeds your metabolism. One sign of your metabolism speeding up is getting hot/sweating, especially after meals. However, the amount you are eating is not normal, healthy or sustainable. You should increase your calories to at least 1500 as a minimum. Please, please do this immediatly, for your own health.
The sensation of heat you describe is a common sign of the metabolism speeding up.
When I used to binge eat, I would sweat a lot because my body had to process all that food and my metabolism was working in overdrive to process everything.
And please get professional help outside this site if you have not already - because you will not even have much of a metabolism if you keep under eating!
The longer you under eat, the harder and less likely it will be that your metabolism will bounce back and start to work at a normal speed.
People who restrict for a long period of time often permanently have very slow metabolisms even once they gain to a healthy weight.
If you do not do anything about your problem now, you may have to eat much less then a normal person to maintain in the future, and that is no fun!
What would you prefer: to eat a normal amount now, and to gain a little weight if you are underweight ( I do not know you weight sorry) OR to continue being too scared to eat enough and having to eat less then every one else just to maintain a normal weight for your whole life?
You can learn to eat enough now and enjoy being able to eat enough and maintain your weight, or you can continue to under eat, and have to eat way less then normal people to maintain.
Will I still be able to lose weight on 1500 cals?

I'm a little confused though. If the metabolism is speeding up to compensate for an increased number of calories consumed, then why do people become overweight? Wouldn't their metabolisms simply speed up to burn off the extra calories consumed?
Yes I agree with goobyb..I don't get it.
