Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k I eat an awful lot everday but i am still not to overweight my friend told me this is because i have a high metabolism sooo if i stop eating huge amounts will i pile on the punds because my body will go into starvation mode? i am a little confused please help!

I wouldn't expect that. If you're really concerned, ask your doc but the body is pretty good about taking care of itself if we listen, so you'd probably be fine if you ate less.
if you don't need to lose weight than your body might need all the food you are eating. Instead of cutting down on the amount you eat try and make healthier choices, that way when you metabolism eventually drops you will already be eating foods that are good for you, and all you'll have to do is cut down on the amount you actually eat.

and, you are 13 and grwoing. you will need more calories if you are active and growing than a sedatary adult would.
Yeah, don't worry about amount of calories at this point, worry about QUALITY of calories. If you're eating a lot of sugar and fatty foods, then eventually the weight goblin will catch up with you...and so will the bad teeth and bad skin goblin. Try to replace them with some quality, nutritious foods like nuts, fruits, veggies, and the such. You'll still be eating the same amount, but the quality will benefit you greatly!
