Metbolism back to normal
Hi there, I am in the first month of recovery and im eating every 3 hours but im constantly full!
I havnt gained anything so far. Can anyone suggest good foods that settle in the stomach easily??
And how long did it take for each persons metabolism to get back to normal.
Any help would be soo much appreciated!!!
How many calories are you eating? At least 2,500? If you haven't been continuing to gradually increase your intake your body will "get used to" that and will no longer gain on that amount.
Are you a man or a woman? For men, 3,000 is the gaining minimum (at sedentary) and that minimum is 2,500 for women.
Eatng every three-hours is a great plan (I'm a follower myself) but you need to make sure you're eating enough. Figure your calorie needs and stick to them. Don't "cut-back" or skip a meal simply because you don't feel hungry. Just because you don't feel hungry doesn't mean your body doesn't need to be fed.
I'm not really sure what you mean by "normal" metabolism, since I just sort of eat whatever I happen to need to gain. The number is different for everyone. I naturally like to exercise and "eat clean" (and frequently!), so my metabolism may be higher than average as it is. You just need to figure out what's right for YOU.
Similarly, different foods "settle" differently for some people than others, but typically you're pretty safe with bland, simple foods like bananas, oatmeal, soft fruits and pureed vegegtables, and, depending on your tolerance, creamy dairy products such as yogurt or cottage cheese. The downside to dairy is the lactose, and full-fat dairy products often are more likley to cause stomach upsets than non- or low-fat products.
As for what to avoid: spicy or extremely salty foods, excessivley oily or fatty foods, excessive protein (too much meat, chicken, etc), large amounts of raw vegetables and otherwise highly-fiberous foods, and anything containing MSG, which has been known to cause head aches and digestive problems in some people.
this is the problem, im not seeing a dietician anough and i wont be seeing her untill another 2 weeks!
My calorie intake is around 1800 maybe but im not sure. can you suggest a good website for calculating it. im female by the way. 5'7 and bmi is only 14
1800 calories isn't enough teck, when your weight is so low it's going to take almost double that to gain. i suggest raising it about 250-500 calories every few days until you reach over 2500-2800.
good luck
thanks for the advice, my dietician is useless and i cant even change her ither as where i live is pretty remote.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
