How did you guys quit? Right now i'm sucking on a Commit Lozenge, and its hurting my throat, tongue, and stomach.
Nicatrol hurt my lungs and throat, I think I'm running out of options here :(
I had to try a few times over the past few years, but what worked best for me was to continually unsettle my smoking routine - for example I was no longer allowed to smoke on my own property (my own rule) which made it a hassle to do it; I wasn't allowed to smoke with my sister around (a smoker and significant trigger for me!); I wasn't allowed to smoke on the phone; I wasn't allowed to smoke at work. I gradually kept adding rules as I got stronger and more disinterested in smoking, and then finally went for it, quitting. The important thing for me was to avoid the guilt - it was easier to not smoke in the conditions I imposed on myself, as I could reassure myself that I could smoke later if I really wanted to. And I was feeling positive for achieving those rules, and therefore was able to feel less guilty when I did smoke. By the time I actually stopped completely it was much easier. All I used was some nicorette to get through any acute stages in the first 2 weeks or so.
Good luck!
that is really good advise, I'll try that! I already have one about no smoking "in" the house.. but at the door way I do.. maybe that may be a good thing to try :D Thanks jhbaker!
