Michael Vick and Nike reunite?
Great! This is a real good example for the younger generation. And I am rethinking my own life. Too many morales. Maybe I should have been a theif, a killer, or sold illegal drugs to minors.
This guy should have suffered a slow, painful death, however, here in America we glamorize the evils of idiots and make them millionaires. No wonder the younger generations are so confused and misguided.
And I already know people are going to slam me against the wall for having a strong opinion, but, you know - that is life I suppose.
He served his time. He paid his debt to society. I'd rather have him out of jail to make room for the rapists and murderers (of people) taht we let out early due to overcrowding of prisons.
Just my opinion.
So, because someone committed a crime and served time, it's going to want to make other kids want to committ worse crimes?
"So, my dad got drunk in college when he was underage, and he turned out OK so I guess I should just grow up to be a serial killer!"
mmm... logic

Oooo I got a better one. My dad got a speeding ticket so I should become a serial killer!!
He did his time. Isn't that what we were hoping to do here? Send someone to jail and hopefully when they get out they will have learned to be a productive, law abiding member of society.
That's what he's trying to do folks. I know it makes us all angry that he abused those dogs. But from what I've seen he's doing everything he can to make ammends and I think we should give him a chance to prove himself. Who are we to say how much money someone who used to be in jail should be able to make?
um...it's not that fact that he served his time. healthy didn't say he shouldn't be allowed back into society.
it's the fact that a sick piece of human trash, a criminal, who TORTURED innocent animals who had no way to defend themselves is now representing a brand that is peddled to little kids. what Micheal Vick did was HEINOUS.
micheal vick should be afforded the same fairness that those dogs had. someone should choke slam him into the ground until he dies. our pour water on him and electrocute him. **** micheal vick.

there's a HUGE difference between becoming a law abiding member of society and representing a brand that is sold to children. a HUGE difference.

The guy has certainly not led an exemplary life, but I don't believe he's done anything to warrant the death penalty. I'm not defending him or his actions, but seriously...
And I think you have some misinformation about his relationship with Nike.
However, if you ever find a kid who now actually thinks that Vick's renewed ability to wear a swoosh on his chest validates breaking the law and serving prison time, I'll concede the point.

Ummm... then be mad at Nike? They're the ones paying him. And to be honest... seeing as he's still trying to make amends AFTER he paid his debt to society... I would venture to say that that is a good example. He committed a crime, he confessed to the crime, he served his time, and he CONTINUES to do what he can to amend it.
Celebrities are just that... celebrities. If you dont' want your kids looking up to them, teach them not to and teach them why.
Too many parents let the television teach their kids rather than doing their job and PARENTING their kids.

I got an idea. Let's put Vick back and prison and let out a repeat rapist so there's room for him. Make sure he moves into your neighborhood while we're at it.
His case and the publicity has done much more to fight animal cruelty than people realize.

ummm i am? or i would be if this were true, which apparently in the last 35 minutes Nike has declared it isn't.
Oh, and i'm SURE he's trying to make amends out of the goodness of his heart, not to get his career back. what a caring wonderful man he must be. what a great example for the children!! hey sick sociopath kids, torture and mutilate dogs all you want! all you have to do is say sorry and serve a little time and everything is just wonderful. what a GOOD example!!
:/
can't belive people are actually duped by this guy! sad really.

Or, keep violet criminals in prison (such a Vick and repeat rapists) and let the non-violent ones out....if you want to be difficult ;)

Yes it was. But Vick is in the spotlight now. He has been speaking out against animal abuse since his release and I think that he has the chance to get the attention of kids that way as well. We have no idea what his relationship with Nike might bring as well.

So.....I'm just trying to get this straight. You're all for the death penalty then? Let the punishment fit the crime? Would you say the same thing about people who murder humans? Maybe we should do away with lethal injection altogether since killers rarely ever kill their victims as humanely as they get put to death. We should just kill them all in the same way they killed their victims, right?
My parts in bold

wtf?
Uh, did i say he should be put back in jail? No, i didn't.
whatever my opion of him is, he served the time they gave him, and they can't put him back in. doesn't mean i don't wish someone would yank all his teeth out and electrocute him.

I'm not duped... I just don't care. He served his time and he's doing his job playing football. Am I going to go out and buy his jersey? Nope. But am I going to go freaking out and posting all over the internet why this guy should fry? Nope. In fact, seeing as I like our system innocent until proven guilty and then if youa re proven guilty serving your time and getting a fresh start... seems to me the system worked perfectly.
Cruelty to animals is awful, yes, however it doesn't deserve the same punishment as torturing and killing another human IMO.

oh for crying out loud. i just said what i WISH someone would do to him. because i loathe him. i'm not saying we should change the whole legal system. take it easy.

Hey an intelligent resposne!! :) I would venture to guess however, that the murders (of humans) and rapists are so many esp if you include the ones that are let out... we'd still have very full prisons....
if you want to be difficult. ;)
