I started calorie count in November of 2007, since then I lost 22 pounds. But...I gained 2-3 back and I never reached my goal of 145. Right now I am 155-156. I began this journey at 175, 5'8". So who's ready to lose the last 10 with me??

 

We will have weekly weigh-ins on Friday mornings and post them in this thread, tell how we feel, if we are struggling, etc.

We need support!!

Great! Hopefully we will keep eachother motivated for this month. I'm 5'6, 132, hoping to go down to 125! Hopefully my body will listen to this challenge cause lately it has been staying at the same weight.

So, what is everyone's plan for taking the weight off?  What have people been doing?  What has worked for you and what hasn't?

I have been trying to eat as many fruits and vegetables as I can during the day.  Instead of feeling like I am limiting myself ("dieting"), I feel like I am eating to get the most nutrients in my body.  This has helped me fill up on the good stuff and stay away (to a certain extent...) from the other stuff.

I'm also trying to get to yoga 5-6 days/week.

Lfraine- I'm doing the 'learn to run' program, for my cardio and I've begun to start weights.

I just try to keep my cal intake, but still enjoy my treats in moderation.

I've figured out that I quite enjoy running, so, I'm just praying that it helps me get the weight off!

[EDIT - moved my stats to post #117] I had two logs going and it was confusing. So I moved everything to the second one. Sorry about that.

10 pounds sounds like a good start for me.


I'm 5'2" and 151.5 pounds right now.


Getting down to 141 pounds would be awesome for me, as that's the weight I had stayed pretty much at before I gained some weight last summer.

I do 30 mins exercise every AM .. Jillian Michaels : 30 day shred DVD.. she is a trainer from the biggest loser.. already reached level 2

Diet
Also am trying to maintain my diet to around 1600 calories I guess.. hard for me to count as I eat Indian vegetarian food..

I'm in! 24yrs old, 5ft 7. I just was in a group for the last 6 weeks to lose 10lb...and knowing that I had to advertise to everyone what my weight was for the week was a great motivator! I didn't quite hit my 10lb goal...but I did drop 8, which is still great progress for me! Here's to another 10lb down the drain!

10 lbs by mid August sounds great to me, can I join!?! I head back to school end of August and definitely wouldn't mind dropping a few pounds.  I'm about 5'6 and around 154 last time I checked

I'll sign up to lose 7. I'm breastfeeding and 10 seems a little severe. I talked to a trainer today and he thought I wasn't losing weight b/c I wasn't eating enough protein.  I'm 159 and have lost only 10 pounds in past 4 months.

So I'm going to up my protein intake, eat more meals (less sweets) and exercise. See what happens. Good luck!

Yea I'll join in too! Just joined recently but haven't been too motivated as of yet haha..so maybe this will help get me on track for real. I'm headin back to school at the end of August too...hoping to start good habits while at home so I don't eat a lot of greasy crap again this year! I'm about 5'6.5 and 156lbs.

I do spin class 3 days a week, interval cardio and strength training 3 days a week, trying to keep my cals at 1600 and limit my sugar intake!

I'm totally in for this! Starting is 146 would love to be to 136 by then! My birthday is Sept 12 I would love to be to 126 by mid september that would be close enough to my goal weight that I'd be completly happy! - if this works we will need to keep it going another month!

My biggest helper in trying to lose weight is my triathlon training. I started doing triathlons last summer,when I was still well over 200 pounds, and am addicted! I train with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training so it's a great group environment and we train hard! I train 5-6 days a week, doing mainly running and biking with some swimming mixed in. Because I train so much, I have to eat more, whihc makes the balance difficult, but i try to maintain about 1800-2000 cals a day. I allow myself "cheats" as people like to call them. Basically I don't put anythign off limits because that's how I stay sane. I jsut try to moderate. I've lost about 55 pounds so far so somethings working!

Gahh, this trying to burn 500 cals is getting the best of me lol. I do really need to keep a defiect this week though. I'm doing it... slowly.

I had to join after i read this post. I am in need of some serious motivation and i think if i have to answer to a large group, that just may be the ticket! If you are still taking people, i'm interested!

I am 5'4" and 159 lbs.

My heaviest weight was 174, and my final goal weight is 130 lbs.

This sounds like a great challenge!

Sounds like lots of people are really good at exercise - I'm jealous!  That is definitely my downfall.  Ktcort, the triathlon training sounds incredible.

So ... is posting the weekly changes a good enough motivator for everyone?  Or does it help to have other group members act as hardasses and berate you when you don't meet your goals?  (Kidding.) 

I started in May of 2008 at 177 lbs.  I am 5 6'.  The first three weeks I lost about 8 lbs then for the next three weeks nothing....Yet, I still counted my calories and stayed under 900. Now each week I lose about 1-2 lbs.  I am not sure why those three weeks I lost nothing...

I just have to remember to stay on my eating plan and not to give up!  Now I am at 163 and losing! My goal weight is 145.
