LOCKED TOPIC

This Might Not Be Appropriate..."Smokers"

I'm not sure if anyone has made a topic on this subject or not, but here goes:

"Smokers" (And not tobacco products) how do you keep from giving into your munchies? I do fine all day, but when I get home to "relax", I find myself stuffing everything down my throat. How do you keep from the midnight "munchies" after a good smoke? My mother sucks on jolly ranchers to have the illusion that she's eating something, but I can't stand most hard candies.

drink lots of water. and fruit. but i suggest quitting. or severely cutting back. it will help you so much in the long run.

Easy, stop doing it.

You just to have the same self control that you have sober. I know from personal experience that it is possible to smoke and not eat anything extra. I think the problem is once you start snacking, it's even harder to stop. So just don't allow yourself to consume anything that you wouldn't eat if you hadn't smoked.

Some tea with  a little sugar is ussually sweet enough

eat plain, airpopped popcorn. It has very few calories.

You smoke with your Mom? Weird...

Hi,

I used to just eat my dinner before so I'd still feel a little full when I started 'relaxing'. Usually a meal with a little bread, meat, veggies and some fruit, so you've kind of satisfied any craving you have so you don't give in when u 'relax'. :)

It's time to quit smoking - it is an idiotic behavior.

You just GOTTA love the haters...perhaps the suggestion to "relax" would be ideal for them...LOL.

Here is my 'relaxation' strategy...I keep sugar-free (25 cal) popcicles in my freezer and lots of veggies and fruit cut up in the fridge (so that there is no 'work' involved!) This seems to curb the 'munchies' for me.  I also keep Smart Pop - 100 calorie popcorn bags too!

Hope that helps!  Peace Out!

I am an avid smoker. I have also lost 55 lbs in the last 10 months, so it is possible. This is what I do. I eat before I smoke. That way when I get the munchies I know that I have already had my fill and it is only the munchies, and not "real" hunger. I also drink water. After a while you get used to it and it does get easier. Occasionally I do give into my munchie attack, but it is not usually too bad since I don't buy the "crap" food anymore. So my choices in my pantry are usually things like carrots, or apples, or 90 calorie rice crispy treats (I love these because it feels like you are totally being bad, but it's only 90 calories). Just make sure when you do your regular grocery shopping you are sober otherwise you end up with crap food (trust me, I know from experience). Good luck!!!
