I might die in a tornado today, I'll keep you guys posted

Sirens are going off everywhere and I'm doing the most logical thing: posting on the internet. I was just driving through it. The good news-it's easier to navigate through torrential rain than a pack of cyclists.

Watch out for flying cows.

I thought the same thing. I live far enough outside the city of Chicago I actually might see one if it flies a few miles out

our sirens only go off after the storm has passed.

maybe chicago authorities could talk to atlanta authorities. (of course, we didn't learn anything about rebuilding after a fire, either...)

Our sirens go off on cloudless summer days but not when there are actual tornado warnings- I live in the ghet-to.  I think it's a government conspiracy to take all of us out.

don't be silly. our government only does what is best for us. they are selfish in their commitment....

aw hell, my fingers refused to keep going. :D

LOL - there ARE no sirens in downtown Chicago - they used to tell us growing up that there was no open space for a tornado to form... nevermind that downtown abuts a GIANT LAKE - hello open space...

Last years big storm you could see the crazys standing infront of windows in all the office buildings watching the storm roll towards them - cause that seems smart...

Yup...I'm in the same boat!  Sirens keep ringing and they keep doing the warnings over our intercom here at work.  We have yet to get an actual storm though.  Downers Grove seems to be the safe place to be right about now!  I'll let you know if I see any cows out this way!  LOL

Ahhhh, but when they form over water they are waterspouts -- not tornadoes.

i thought they were water spouts if they were water.

hey spiro...watch out for flying cyclists!

Northern Ohio doesn't have many sirens. You have to be listening to a local radio or TV channel to know if there's an emergency. If you're watching a cable to satellite channel you're screwed.

i mean, once those cyclists end up airborn, there's no way to avoid them!

Did you see the funnel? I find those mesmerizing.

Funny, we have warnings right now too and I am still online ignoring it. Smart, real smart. Wink

Sirens in Boulder/Denver are a pretty regular thing these days because we have been bombarded by tornados! Every time I hear the wind pick up I get nervous! Good Luck... I too have NO clue wtf to do during the siren situations... so far I have just sort of gone about my day, making dinner, watching tv, etc! ha ha - I am sure that won't be the case when the TWISTER comes and smashing into my apartment building!

Update: still alive.

Good to know your still with us. Tornados must be scary. My only experience with one is the Wiard of Oz.

We do have sirens here at  the Jersey Shore but they go off when the tide comes in to high and you have to move you car to higher ground. Sometimes furniture too!

spiro, get in the cellar!  i would miss you terribly.
