Hey all!!!
Dr. Pepper has been my addiction for as long as i can remember. I have not had a sip in 10 days. At first i would get headaches really badly and i knew that my body was crying for just a sip. Now that the headaches are gone, it seems like i just want a taste you know. I know that it is empty calories and i should just stick to my water, but this is like giving up my favorite purse or something. I dont know how much longer i can go!
Any thoughts on something that may sooth the craving?

Oh Oh Oh I know something you should try. You really dont want the taste I dont think. In my case its bubbles and that cold burn when you swallow it. You know what I mean. So go see if you can get some flavored waters with bubbles. They make a really good one that comes in grape, strawberry and lemon. I have not tried the lemon yet but I have some in my refrigerator. See what ya think. huggers to ya
DONNNTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT give in......(streatching accross the room diving inbetween you and Dr. Pepper in slow motion).....
Do you like Diet Dr. Pepper? If not, they make Dr. Pepper flavored lip balms. If you're simply craving the taste it may help and it will make your lips shiny!
giggles at Suzzie....running to put pillows down to soften the fall....giggles....
Try giving yourself a reward for a good week. If you loose your goal amount then allow yourself a reward of one 10 ounce glass of diet dr. pepper. It still gives you the taste and making it a reward is a great way to keep reminding yourself not to give up. The diet gives no calories and since you haven't had it you may not even mind the diet taste.
falling landing on the pillow..............good save laureen....
Seriousley ashop try the diet dr. pepper (I havent seen it on the shelves here in Australia) but if it exists and its the same as coca cola you should not have anytrouble then drinking 1 glass a day. If you choose to go that way pick a particualr private time of the day to have that drink and enjoy it. Lip balm sounds good.
I still dont think you should drink diet or regular...I think your cravings will go away with time...try something else...truly...I really think you will be ok after a bit....(helps Suzzie up off the floor)
I like crystal light on the go. My favorite is rasberry ice. I use it when I really, really want a soda. Hang in there!
Thanks guys for all the support. My sep-dad did not know that i was on a diet and did not know that I was giving up my beloved Dr. Pepper, so he brings home a 2-litter, and i am the only one in the house that drinks it. So now it's just sitting there staring at me everytime i go in the kitchen, it's torture but, I think i'm going to be okay!
Say thank you to your step-dad because that was a sweet jesture then when does not see go pour it out. The best way to get rid of it...or pour a glass...pour it out...later pour another glass ...pour it out until its all gone.....at least you will be in good practice for a waitress job...huggers to my soda drinkers
How about donating it to a homeless or domestic violence shelter instead of just wasting it? You'll feel good about yourself in more ways than one! 1. By not consuming the calories; 2. by making someone else a little happier!
bonk...why didnt I think of that....oh wow thats a great idea....huggers....
Because your a blond lol.....saying thank you for helping me off the floor. Dare I say it I dissagree with Laureen (ouch didnt see the fry pan comming). I dont think a small glass will harm. It sounds like our gal is so hooked on the darn drink that in order for her to get it out of her system she may just need to take it in steps. Right until she says right Im a reformed Dr. Pepper drinker..................I like the donating to the homeless idea a great deal. You get there ashhop.....Just remmber small baby steps.............
Maybe you could try a diet soda that emulates Dr. Pepper. I wouldn't know what that is, as I do not drink your favorite, but root beer is one of my favorites and I drink Diet MUG ROOT BEER. It's pretty good, and I allow myself a little each day, when I am craving it. I do try to stick with water, and put some lemon in it...sometimes I drink DIET TONIC WATER with lime. That is really refreshing on a hot day...nowadays, with cold weather, regular water or hot tea are favorites of mine. I have a Chinese friend who swears by (GREEN TEA) for weight loss. SHE IS SKINNY! so, maybe it does work, but I don't care for the taste. Good luck and don't give in. It's not what we consume that makes us fat, it's what is consuming us! In other words, what's driving you to NEED Dr. Pepper? Go within!
Now imagine how awesome you WILL feel when you DONT drink it, go grab a glass of water, add some citrus to it (doesnt have to be lemon, try lime or squeeze a slice of orange in it) Beat the craving!!! If I can go without Mt. Dew for 2 months so far, you can do it! Its hard but prove to yourself you have willpower!!
Oh no Suzzie...now I dont agree with you on the baby steps cuz she has already been without that soda for ten days. She needs to hang in there because she has the will power. Well, I know I didnt have the will power this afternoon when I ate those chips and salsa everyone has a set back now and again but try so hard not too....huggers...(hands Suzzie a carrot)
Well, all i can say is thanks for the support. I went to subway today after work and can you believe that they did not have any waters? i was like, restock, please. So in order for me to not choke to death i had to get a soda. I was standing there cup in hand, got my ice and there was the Dr. Pepper just screaming for me to give into it. I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF. I ended up getting diet dr pepper and it was not that great, but i am proud of myself that i was able to resist my strongest temptation staring me right in the face. Then i get home and my sister has opened the 2 liter my step dad brought home and there was a big glass of ice cold Dr Pepper on the kitchen counter. Temptation is such a little wiener!!!! I am resisting and i think that after a few more days i will be okay but i am seriously considering getting some Dr Pepper chapstick when i can find the time to go to wal mart. Thanks Again!
You should never completely cut yourself off. If you crave something, but don't eat or drink it, you will only wind up eating more of other stuff to satisfy the craving. I went to weight watchers with my ex boyfriends daughter a few times. I've learned that you should always give yourself a treat every now and then. However, try to control how much you consume. I've also read this in a nutrition class I took about 10 years ago during my college years.
good for you! Im so proud of you! I like the chapstick Idea. its hard for me to allow myself a mt dew because I cant stop drinking it! GEEZ we sound like alcoholics!
