One mile at a good pace is good cardio and whatever you can squeeze into your day in better than nothing.  You can always atempt to build on it later when you have more time available.

It's a good start for sure!  I would suggest looking for an amount of time rather than a distance.  You'll find that as you continue the mile, you'll be doing it faster and faster.  So logically, you should be able to do more than a mile in time in the same amount of time.  Don't limit the distance...

It is a good start, but to not be considered "sedentary", keep walking, have fun!

While 1 mile a day is a good start, it also depends on pace. If you sprint the one mile as fast as you can, your heart rate will stay elevated for longer so you will burn more calories.

One mile a day is better than no miles a day... it's enough to begin with - as you get fitter you'll be able to increase your distance in the same length of time.
