75 Mile Walk

Quote  |  Reply

This thread is for anyone wanting to walk 75 miles in the month of April.  You can post your progress here.  All are welcome to join.  This is not a competition but simply a support thread to help us each obtain success in our weight loss goals.

My goal is to start on April 1st, walk 3 miles per day, 6 days per week.  I won't let weather interfer with my goal.  I will find alternative areas to walk if the weather doesn't cooperate (Mall, tread mill...).  My goal is to become healthy and loose weight along the way.

On your mark, get set, ......GO!!!!

I'm in!!! Cool

Also if the weather is bad, you don't have a treadmill, or you just don't feel like going outside - you can do these 2 Leslie Sansone walking video's for a total of almost 30 minutes - 2 miles:

I'm not sure yet what strategy I will use to get my 75 miles in! I have been walking 7 days a week, so hopefully I can keep that up!!!

Doesn't walking 75 miles sound like such a great accomplishment?? Laughing I know we can do it!!!!

I can't walk because of a physical problem.... but I can swim or ride my bike!  I can commit to riding my bike every day for 3 miles a day or more.  Does that count?

This will be a lot of fun!  I can't wait to start!

I think 75 miles in a month of any activity would be an awesome accomplishment!

Hi Janice,

Absolutely, that counts!  Any goal you want to set is great.  We look forward to hearing your progress each day so be sure to let us know how it's going...even on the bad days so we can pump you back up! (not that I'm saying you'll have bad days but you know what I mean....)

BTW, I'm in Florida too!  Orlando

Hi Georgia Donut!!! I'm glad you found us!  Here's to a healthy new start for all of us!

I think this would be great for me. I walk to work and back most days...~3.5 miles. To do this, I need to ramp it up a bit and that would be great!

Hey, hey, hey! Tomorrow's DAY ONE!

I'm going to try this also!  :)  Sounds fun.  I hike about 5 miles once a week and play soccer once a week, but have been pretty relaxed the other days.  Hopefully this will kick me back into gear.  :)  I'm in SoCal, anyone else around here?

This is so great that there are so many of us jumping in!! Janice - I hope you do join us! You have to do whatever works for you...it's all good!! Smile 75 miles in a month - I just love the sound of that!!! LOL!!! I emailed my sisters, a sil, & some friends to see if any of them wanted to join in - so far I have heard back from my sil & she says she is IN!!! Oh happy day!! I just got done doing 4 miles with Leslie Sansone...too bad I can't count that yet! Lol!! Wink

Hello people!  Please count me in.  I have been having a hard time getting back into the exercise routine - I think a challenge is the kick in the chubby cheeks that I need.  Great idea!

I'll check in with you all tomorrow.

Walk on...

Wendy

ok I am in. I can do it.  I was doing 3-4 miles a day 7 days a week, but got a little lax with vac. and getting back into groove. have been doing good this last week. got 3 miles in 6 out of 7 Days  last week..  this will be great motivation.  oh my name is Penny.  I started out in nov of 07 at 280 lbs.  I am now at 212, with my lowest weight as of late being about 208 or so.  I am desparately wanting to get below 200. then work on further my goal from there.  my cc friends have been so uplifting for me.  the comraderie and support has been key to my weight loss and I know will be instrumental to my further weight loss and maintainence.  lets do this everyone.   I better get started on my 3 miles for today ( eventhough it is not april yet, got to keep that momentum going.) I also do pilates since my back surgery in feb 2008.  I had to have a fusion done. I have done wonderful after it and losing the weight has been most of the reason and also the exercise sped the healing immensely.  look forward to doing this with ya'll and making some new friends.    penny

Great motivation to step it up. I'm in.

I was just going to participate without posting here, but I think its important to state how I'm doing to stay on track and make the goal. This sounds like fun!

lah_me, I'm glad you decided to post that you are joining us! I think you are right that it will help keep us on track, in focus & hold us accountable!

2 of my sisters, 1 sil, & 1 niece are joining me in this journey so far - they are not members of this website (yet) but we'll all be emailing back & forth I'm sure!! Such fun!! Hopefully more of my family will decide to join us too! I got a great response from them - they all seem very excited! I'll have to send out an inspirational email right away tomorrow morning to kick it off! LOL!!!

Hi, Count me in too! My name is Lynn and I live in Los Angles (South Bay). Hi Maryt53, I'm in SoCal too. I've been on cc for 1 week now and am trying to lose a good 10 - 15 pounds but the scale doesn't want to budge. I weigh 157 and I'm 5'6" so not a huge amount to lose, but still lots of hard work. Sigh. I'm still waiting for scientists to invent that magic weight loss pill, but until then I'll count my calories and try to walk 75 miles in April. But, even if they do come out with the magic weight loss pill, I will still want to walking and exercise. I won't count calories, though. ;) Good luck everyone! Let's WALK!!!!!

Hey!! Definitely count me in! I'm going to start today (April 1st) .. I'm stoked! I'll make the boyfriend drive around his neighbourhood so I can get an idea of how far 3 miles is -- LOL

Btw, my name is Brandy -- I'm 23, 5'6 and weigh 175-18O (it varies) I'm looking to lose 3O LBS so I can get to a healthy 145-15O. I love those "Walk Away the Pounds" videos, so I'll be doing lots of those whenever the weather is nasty! (=

Count me in.  I walk 3+ miles every lunch break.  But up until now we have not had any snow this winter.  Suddenly we have snow!  This will be a challenge to make myself walk somewhere, anywhere, when the weather is bad.

I am also going to try to pull my son into this 2 days a week.  That will give him a month total of 24 miles.  Not bad for a kiddo who currently moves at 0 miles per hour.

If I missed it, forgive me, but has anyone said how we're to be accountable? Should we post our daily totals once a week?

Good Morning Everyone!!!  So glad to see so many people here this morning.

Hi Chris,

You are only accountable to your self but hope that you share your totals, successes, road blocks, etc. daily so we can help support you and cheer you on.  I plan on using the Activity Log (located under "My Account" at the top of this page) to track my daily activity and then post my results in this thread.  Remember, you are only competing with yourself, so make sure you come out the winner!

So has anyone walked yet today?  I'm planning on doing at least one lap (1 mile) around my office complex at 10 am (EST) and then 2 laps (2 miles) at 12:30 on my lunch hour.  It supposed to rain today, so I already have a back up plan....we have a small work out room in our office building and there are 2 tread mills there.  I'll walk there if necessary, but WILL WALK TODAY!!!  Laughing

I'm going to a Magic Basketball game tonight with several co-workers so I know I won't be able to walk when I get home.

Be sure you always have a back up plan and don't wait until the day is gone to realize you haven't accomplished your daily goal.  Make yourself #1...Good luck everyone!

Niki

I walked about a mile already. It was just drizzling a bit so I walked to work anyway. If it picks up later I'll hit the treadmill at lunchtime.

Today is the day we begin our 75 mile stroll!!! Laughing I now have 8 family members doing this with me, plus a brother who is going to ride his bike 45 min. - 6 days a week!

Good for you Chris, having a mile in already!!! I will do my walking after work - I do my stairmaster in the morning before work & I walk at night! So far it is a BEAUTIFUL day - I think I will be walking outside instead of doing a WATP (Walk Away The Pounds) dvd!! (although I feel like I get such a great workout when I do the dvd's...)

Get out them walking shoes & Walk, Walk, Walk!!! Go, Go, Go!!!!

Have a great day everybody!!!

I'm in!! 3 miles a day here we come!! :)
