50 miles a month, 100 miles a month!!
Hi,
I'm just starting a group of walkers/hikers! (no runners please you just make me feel bad LOL) Interval walk/joggers welcome! Basically anyone who thinks 100 miles in a month seems Impossible!
I have set myself with a goal of Eventually walking 100 miles every month. I'm Starting slow with 50 miles a month.
To break that down 50 miles a month is ~12 miles a week.
which is ~1.6 miles a day
So far I have 11.6 for the month of April. Anyone want to join?
This weekend (weather permitting) I'll hike ~10 miles up Mt. Evans! One of Colorado's 14'ners!
FYI: I am using Map my Walk (online) to help figure out the distance I cover for every walk, a Pedomiter is also a great tool for this.
i think I'll give it a go! I'll start at 50 and work my way up as well.

So 1.6 miles a day or 12 miles a week should be your goal! you got a little catch up but no biggy!
well I think I walked 3 or 4 form the 1st - 4th, so it shouldn't be too hard to make up! Good luck to you!

I just love it for scheduling workouts and finding how far I've gone. It tells you how many miles in your walk, and how many calories, neat hu! I think it complements CC really well.
1.6 miles really isn’t that far, I do 2.5 pretty regularly with my puppy. I started with 1.6 though, it’s not so hard.
I am thinking about adding a weight vest for extra resistance… but I am kind of training for long hikes with weight on.

That's what... 3.2 or so miles per day? I could probably swing that. I won't go out on the main road though, I'm in hockey skates and I can't stop right yet without a brake lol.
haha... Well if your going to start running... You could always shoot for 50 with intreval walking and jogging.
Before I got my knee taken out (AGAIN) I was at that point... it's VERY effective.
OK
I just did my 2.5 miles! I even Jogged alittle. My puppy a 3 month old Belgian Shepard wanted to boogie.
That brings me to ~14.5!
When I got to the half way point I started on my sit ups challenge... I only got 100 and that was by doing 2 sets of 50... well looks like I can't do 200 any more!
I walk 4-5 miles each evening, 5 days a week. Can I join? ![]()

alrighty so I walked 3 miles on the 1st and I should get in 3 miles today! that gives me a total of 6 for now!

I love to walk! Once I put on that mp3 player its like zoom Im outta here...dancing and singing down the street...My poor dog. We also walk in the mornings before I leave for work. It's about 1.26 miles. I learned a happy, well behaved dog that doesnt ruin my house is a tired dog. LOL! So I guess I am doing about 6 miles and some change when you add it all up.
What would be a good goal?

maybe start off at 150 miles see how that works. If it's too much or to little you could always adjust it as you go along
I have an Idea. This is Phase 2 of my workout Goal, but I'll just hand it over to you... instead of walking Farther start walking Harder.
Right now you are at about 180 miles a month! Great lets set that as your goal...
But to make the walk harder add a weight vest.

75 carrying 10 lbs!

I've been looking into weights and such. The problem is a dog leash in one hand. I also need something to keep my Zune out of the way. They weight vest looks uncomfy! But I guess I need to try it before I knock it!
I think I will aim for 150 miles a month with some difficulty.

I'm a huge beginner, have never really ran before starting CC in January and have set my goal for the month of April to be 30 miles in 30 days (see my journals or other entries). I have only done 2 miles on the treadmill a handful of times (really, I could count it on one hand) so for me, its about doing 1 mile a day, everyday, for the entire month of April. I did have to take one day off this weekend, but I managed to do a mile and a half the next 2 days. I'm happy to join, and hope it pulls some of us "less in shape" people into trying 30 in 30.
Welcome to the Group Gym Coach, there is nothing wrong with starting slow.
Now We're a walking group, so most of use are Walking our 50 or 100 miles... one person might be roller blading!
Anyway, Great job! So are you running or walking your 30?
Also you might want to consider Run/Walking Especially as a beginner. Instead of pushing for a continous run, Walk for 1 minute, run for 1 minute. and instead of shooting for 1 mile shoot for 1.5. Just a thought!
