50 miles a month, 100 miles a month!!

Hi,

I'm just starting a group of walkers/hikers!  (no runners please you just make me feel bad LOL)  Interval walk/joggers welcome!  Basically anyone who thinks 100 miles in a month seems Impossible!

I have set myself with a goal of Eventually walking 100 miles every month.  I'm Starting slow with 50 miles a month. 

To break that down 50 miles a month is ~12 miles a week.

which is ~1.6 miles a day

So far I have 11.6 for the month of April.  Anyone want to join?

This weekend (weather permitting) I'll hike ~10 miles up Mt. Evans!  One of Colorado's 14'ners!

FYI: I am using Map my Walk (online) to help figure out the distance I cover for every walk, a Pedomiter is also a great tool for this.

Cool welcome aboard... Keep your eyes peeled for May's 100 Mile Walk Club We will be moving to that Thread on the First of May, Girlfighting is going to set it up for us.

I know it sounds like a TON but 50-100 miles can go by quickly if you dedicate yourself to walking a little bit a day.  Myself and Girlfighting shot for 50 miles our first month... and so did Fay, but she's such a bad azz she's going to make 100 this month!

I think you should shoot for 50 in May... try to set your goals just a little higher then what you think you can do... it's the best way to impress yourself.  And if you don't make it try try again!

    Glad to hear it's going well.  I haven't abandoned you all; I'm just buried knee deep marking finals.  Hopefully, I'll be done in time to get some walking in this weekend.

Did 5.4 today....was aiming for 6 but the poor dog was panting ALOT and I freaked out.  I need to set a water bottle for her.  I did 4 yesterday...had to cut it short cus I had dinner plans.  yes terrible reason I know!

Total: 92.8

I've also lost a total of 18 pounds since I've started this mission.  Cool

damn faye you're on a roll!!

I did 3 miles on Sunday...I partied a little too hard on Saturday night.

95.8 so far.

I am starting to split up my walks because it is getting warmer.  I did 3 this morning and I am aiming for 5 this evening.  I decided to split them up because I hate the hot humid weather here!  So I figure I will start going when it ver early and and when the sun goes down.

probably a really good plan Faye. I'm gonna cut down my walks during lunch since I'm out walking at the hottest part of the day. I'm trying to sneak in a mile in the morning as well as at night to even it all out.

Did 5.4 when I came home and will add the 3 I did that morning for a total of 8.4 for yesterday.

Total so far 104.2.  I got one more day in April I am beat!  Off to walk the dog...I just woke up and I have to be at work by 9.

 

susiecue: Hope you make it to 50! I'm quite sure I will not be! hahaha, unless I leave my car at work and walk the 10 miles home, then do it gain tomorrow morning!

faye: woot woot!! Our first 100 miler! Good job!

Me: At least I'll have made it more than halfway by the end of this month, that's an accomplishment to be proud of for sure! Hope Lilsmiter is having a good time hiking with her pup!

I'm going to give it my best shot.  Another 5 miles this morning running errands.

Next month, I'm wearing a pedometer for a Wellness thing at work.  Should I count all my steps or just the ones where I'm officially walking somewhere?  (I do a lot of walking around at work, but haven't been counting it because it's just part of life.)

susiecue: I think that's the right way to do it. I only count the actual walking I do during my lunch break or morning run

really wanted to get up and run the am, but I'm so sore and exhausted! I should be able to get in 2.5 miles during lunch and another 1.5 after work. Wish me luck!

Wore my pedometer to work this morning.  Turns out my round trip walk to work is 4.5 miles not 4.  So, adding an extra six half-miles (for my previous walk-to-work-and-back trips) plus today's 4.5 takes me to:

52.5 miles total

I walked 2.5 miles during my lunch break! yay!

Well I guess i'm not gonna make it this month! I'll do better next month. I'd love to make it to at least 30 but I don't think I have enough energy for another 2.5 miles after work. I Was so sore from weight lifting I didn't get a chance to run this am and I doubt I'll wanna run tonight
