I'm really excited, and my husband is proud (kind of) but doesn't like that I run so much, so I have to celebrate here...

I ran 40 miles this week!!!

6.5 Tuesday
6.75 Wednesday
5 Thursday
5.25 Friday

*Happy Dance*

I have a long time before my October halfer, but I'm stoked.

Sorry... I felt proud!

Congrats! How long have you been running? I am looking forward to the day I am averaging about 35-40 miles per week, but it seems whenever I get up there I end up with an injury :(

That's really kickass though...Keep it up :D

I started running in October, and in January, THE DAY after I did my longest all-at-once run of 11 miles, I was sidelined by an injury too, an ankle impingement - it knocked me out of running for weeks and I had to build back. Since starting calcium and being on BC it has helped but bad refueling was a big culprit!

What kinds of injuries do you get? How long have you been running??

Congratulations!!  I just got back from an awesome run and, although I am "only" doing Couch to 5K right now, I know how you're feeling!  Great job!!!!

Wow your mileage is even more of an amazing accomplishment then!

Well I started running in May '08, but it was pretty on/off and solely for weightloss. And then I learned to love it.

I've been more serious and consistent with it since this January, but I deal with occasional inflammation in the knees and frequent tendonitis in the feet. So every now and then I need to take at least a week off, which really undoes progress. And I get scared of overrunning because of the tendonitis.

So far I've ran 289 miles since January, with the highest one-week amount only reaching just under 30 mi. Hopefully my feet learn to endure more :)

Are you an overpronator?? There are running shoes you can purchase that cater specifically to your type of stride. I'm a cheapskate so I haven't done this yet, but its a big plus in injury prevention, plus it winds up saving you money in the long run. I think that tendonitis (I have had it too - OUCH!!) is more common in the overpronator, which is why I ask. I think that if you get the right stride - I'm only slightly better than before my big injury - it does less to your knees. I was so worried that my knees would flare up when I started but I had way more problems in my feet and ankles than knees!

Hmmm, maybe. Perhaps I'll get some shoes to address that next time I'm due for new sneakers. Thanks for the thought!

P.S. Just hit 30 mi/week today...Hopefully I'll hold up at this rate! :D

Show off Wink  Niiiice!  You'll be running Boston before you know it.  Keep up the great work!!

(and tell hubby to relax, as long as you are running safe and smart!)

LOL I promise my husband means well, he's the awesome kind of guy who would have me sit on a really comfy chaise lounge while being fanned (by slave women, not men) and fed every bit of white chocolate and cake known to man just so I was relaxed and happy (though neither would do that). He's proud, he just is worried I'll have the body of the female marathon winners by the time I'm done and he likes curves!

Hi there

I have lost about 115 pounds and I would like to start running....Can you give me any tips on how i would get started :)

I am truely new to this but it is really something I am considering

Keep up what you love.  17 years ago my husband trained for his first marathon and I remember being so pissed at the time it took away from the family.  Slowly but surely being pissed turned into being proud and although it took me a while to find my health obsession, at 49  we are both proud of each other for being in good shape.  Everyone needs to find there drive in life.  Don't let anybody (even a husband) take away your passion.
