Today I reached my first major Milestone, for the first time in over 10 years I am under 200lb. I now weigh 198lb, or 90kg. Sorry, I have to say it again, I NOW WEIGHT UNDER 200LB!!!!!!!. It just seems unbelievable. It has been 18 months since I started really watching what I eat, and increasing my exercise and I have lost 25kg in that time, or 55lb. 200lb has been a major psychological barrier for me, and I feel great now I have overcome it.
I would love to know what other people's milestones are. Is is fitting into a certain size? getting under a particular weight? etc etc. I think my next milestone will be to get under 80kg, that would just be unbelievable for me.
So what is your milestone?
Reason: 6/2/08 stickied for a week; 6/9/08 unstickied.
Congratulations on the 200 lbs!! My big milestone is 150, but right now I would be thrilled to get under 180. I also pay attention to clothing sizes since they seem to go down faster than the scale sometimes. But 200 is a big one, especially since you had such a long way to go to get there. GREAT JOB!!
Yesterday I reached a milestone of 40 pounds lost! YAY!
I'm 33 and weigh less than I did my senior year of high school! Granted I had more muscle then and was a size smaller, but heck, I'm calling it a milestone anyway.
Way to go everyone! You all rawk!
I put on a pair of size 12 capris that I couldn't have worn for the past 10-11 years.
Yes, they're that old and I still held on to them.
I would say that is quite a milestone. I've been a size 18 on and off for
8 years.
My first BIG milestone that i am looking forward to is 199 pounds. I haven't been under 200 in 12 years since i got pregnant with my first child. I'm hoping to be there by Christmas. I'm at 230 right now down from 277. I know i can do it, i just wish it would hurry!
Congratulations!
I too reached a milestone 3 days ago, seeing the scale stop at 69.9 kg (154 lb), 6 kg (13.5 lb) off by now and I feel so much closer to my goal of 60 kg (132 lb) because the first number on the scale is the right one! Sounds silly but it really makes a huge difference psychologically :)
Oh beautiful! congratulations spankyraven. That is a lot of hard work over a long haul. You have done well to stick to your program all that time. Somebody send this woman flowers!!!
I live for that day...
my first Milestone will be 10%. when I'm down 26 pounds, I will celebrate.
Woo hoooo!!! Yay you!
Being under 200 is my biggest milestone, but it won't happen for a long time yet, so I have a few to hit along the way. One big one is getting under 270 lbs, which is where I left off my weight-loss efforts two years ago before regaining 50 lbs. I am only 3 lbs away from that second big milestone (the first one was getting under 300 lbs), but am curently stuck one at plateau at 272 lbs, argh! It will come.
Another big milestone is getting to a "normal" BMI....I don't know if that will ever happen as I have a large frame and also have no desire to lose muscle to get there. But it's nice to have goals, and i can re-assess them for reasonableness as I go.
Awwww wow! Flowers for me! Thank you earth mum xox. Thank you for all your kind comments, and congratulations to everyone on reaching and reaching for the next milestone!
I was thinking of putting up some comparison photos, but I was too embarrassed at how bad I look, but maybe that is what I need to keep me motivated. I already have an awful one printed out and stuck up on the cupboard - it works really well!
With my next milestone I will go from obese, to just plain overweight. I looked it up after reading victoriagirls post, I had not calculated it in ages, and I thought it was 41 - which is what it was ages ago, now I am at 32. I just realized I told a fib on another post. Oh well.
Keep up the good work everyone, you are all an inspiration!
Congratulation!!! That is major. I know that because I celebrated the "Under 200 Pound" milestone a couple of weeks ago. I am now working on my next milestone which is to lose half of my goal weight. My goal is to lose 60 pounds. My next milestone is to lose 30 pounds. I am about 2.5 pounds shy of losing 30 pounds. I began trying to lose weight in Jan. 08. I began to take my weight loss serious in March 08 when my company sponsored a "Biggest Loser" competition. I am not sure who won, the results will come out tomorrow. I believe that I am in the top 4. But nevertheless, I am already a winner. I am just tickled pink about my weight loss. I am trying hard, hoping and praying to stay motivated nd reach my goal. Once again my hats off to you and achieving your milestone. Keep up the great work!!!
Congrats Spankyraven and all the others who have replied! I love it when people post personal success blurbs as they are SO motivating for the rest of us! Thank you. I've been in a stall lately so I will consider myself to have reached a milestone on the weekend, small as that may seem, if the scale has actually started to move downwards again! I feel like I have progressed this week. We'll see in a few days. Keep on trucking, and best of luck with the rest of your journey, everyone.
Congratulations.............
I did the same thing about 3 weeks ago and I couldn't believe how elated I was and what a sense of accomplishment I felt. Enjoy it. It's for you.
Happy Milestone,
C
I just reached a huge milestone, too! 50 pounds lost!! It's still hard to believe sometimes. Yesterday I put on a pair of fat pants I've been saving (the ones i wore religiously 6 months ago) and I could almost fit another person in there.
AMAZING!
Congratulations everyone!
First small milestone. 10 lbs. lost!!
Well done Spanks!!!!
Im new at this, my BMI is 28.3. I would like my BMI to be 22-24. I really want to be healthy, I found out with my 76kg and size 14 I am in danger of developing diabetes and heart disease. Also, its been way too long since Ive allowed myself to sit on the beach and feel the sun on my skin. I live in a different country to my mum, shes coming to vist me in a month or so, she will be very dissapointed to see her daughter unhealthy and restricting herself due to excess weight. I really want her to be happy. As soon as all of these are met, I will feel I have accomplished my goal and feel succesfull
hi soankyraven, good for you! i was never a milestone person, but seeing that for many people here it works, i have decided that apart from a milestone that is about 5 kilos away (moving from obese to Overweight category) i will have another at 85 kilos (i am 94 now). today i have bought a mini bottle of champagne to celebrate. hope it will happen july/august!
Congratulations spankyraven! That is a wonderful milestone.
I've just been counting calories for 2 weeks, so I still have a long way to go. But one of my biggest milestones is 177 lbs. That will be the lowest weight I have been in years.
I just found CC this year, but I've kept logs of my weight every summer for the past 5 years. Each summer I would get back to exercising and eating better but I never actually counted my calories before. Each summer I would loose down to about 178-177 and then winter would come and I'd start to put it all back on (each time a little more than the year before.) I feel confident that using CC is going to be a valuable tool for me to break this cycle.
So I have two BIG milestones. ONE: Get under 177 (my goal is 160). TWO: Stay on target through the winter and not fall off the wagon again.
Spankyraven, I have a question. Are you a midwife, too? I noticed in one of your gallery pictures that the caption says it's you and your nephew "who you delivered".
~ Beth
Hi Beth, Yes I am a Midwife, although I have not worked as one for the last 2 years. I have delivered 1012 kids since 1995, including Riley, which was by far the most amazing. Even the hospital was talking about it for days! it was the first completely natural, drug free birth that they had had there in years! I was very fortunate that they allowed me to 'take over' as it was, because that sort of thing is just not done in a private hospital in Australia. You say 'physiological third stage' to anyone and their eyes bug out. I loved being a Midwife, and I do miss it. I am hoping to get back into work after my next operation, the local hospital has been asking me to come and work there for years. And no matter what anyone says, being present at the birth of a child is the best job in the world, we get to share in one of the best days of peoples lives.
So if you are southern Midwife, what does that make me? really really really southern Midwife lol?
Anyway, good on you for your determination in trying to get healthy. I just love the pic of all your family in your gallery. My parents had to wait until the were both in their 60's before they got any grandchildren!
ka2007, having a milestone to reach for is a great motivator for many people, be it 5kg or a dress size or achieving a healthier BMI. Good luck with getting to it!
tinkerbellwings, well I remember the first time I saw my Mum after I started to gain weight while I was away at Uni! I was the one doing all the worrying, she was just happy to see me! Aiming to be healthy is a great goal, and I am sure your Mum will be proud of you no matter what.
I could not agree more with rebbex, reading about how other people have lost weight is sooooo encouraging! The other thing I just love is when people show before and after photo's! I just loved them! hmmmm note to self, need to get out the camera again.
Last thing, susi-q how did you go in the 'Biggest Loser' competition? what ever the result is, I am glad that you can see that you are already a winner.
Keep up the good work everyone, and get out those camera's and start clicking! I want to see some pics!
