Military Member looking to lose 45 pounds
I am a 34 year old Air Force member looking to lose 45 pounds. I am 5'5.5" (small frame). Weighed in today at 178 pounds. My goal weight is 135 pounds. I am determined to be at my goal weight by Mid-November. I am using the mini meal plan which consists of eating a mini (300 calorie meal) every 3 hours and working out every day. I would love to have some support/encouragement. I weigh myself on Saturday Mornings.

Welcome to Calorie Count and to the Weight Loss forum!! Have you checked out the Weight Loss Forum Reources thread at the top of this forum? Also have you seen that we have a New Members forum which has a great thread The Unofficial Guide to Calorie Count? Good luck and let us know if there is anything we can help you with!
I retired from the Air Force last July (after 26 years), and I finally meet Air Force weight standards (under actually) -- for about the first time since I joined up, LOL.
You sound like you are off to a good start -- the thing to remember that this is a lifestyle change, it can't be for a quick fix and then go back to the old ways of eating/exercising.
I did some quick calculations and it looks like you should be eating about 1500 calories per day, with your work outs you will probably lose about 1-2 lb per week, depending on how intense your workouts are
Good luck!
This is definitely a life style change for me. My goal is not just to lose the weight but to also be healthier and more physically fit. CC has calculated my daily calorie need at 1550. My plan is to walk 30 minutes everyday on my lunch break in addition to my other workouts. I've tried a lot of other things before that didn't work and I know that portion control for me is the way to go.
Congrats on taking steps to becoming a healthier you. Sounds like you have a nice plan laid out all ya gotta do is stick to it.
Thanks Amayou82, my plan is to make this a permanent change that not only affords me the opportunity to lose weight, but also keeps me healthy and helps me set an example for my children.
First of all thank you for your service. Second of all rock on! I work with the military on a daily basis (phone work) and being on my bum for 10 hours can KILL your metabolism. I have been crankin away at my weight too so I feel ya on doing what you can to keep fit.
Congrats and keep it up!
CIAO for now!
Thanks Ladydeathbird,
You truly rock, I see you have lost over 100 pounds. That is a great achievement and an encouragement to me. Keep up the great work.
CIAO for now!
P.s. er you happen to have any yummy single airmen that you aren't doing anything with? Heheheh
This week was not a good one for me weight wise. My church had it's annual youth trip. We went to Kings Dominion and I overdid it on the junk. I had chicken strips and fries along with a funnel cake with strawberries. At the movies on saturday I had my customary nacho. (I am trying to get away from them). I got on the scale this morning and it said 180.2.
I am not discouraged though. I got back on track today and will not be slipping up anymore. It just gets to me how easy it is to put on the pounds and how hard it is to take them off. where I put on the three pounds in two days, it will take me more than a week them off. Nevertheless they will come off along with the other 40 pounds to make me a slimmer, healthier me.
It really helped me to see what calories were in things that I was eating. That was my motivation to pass that by and find something else I like that's lower in calories.
I am definitely making the effort to track everything. I made a food log sheet where I track what I eat for each of my mini-meals along with everything I drink. If I don't know the nutrition information or can't pull it up on this site, I won't eat it. I just still have to get my workout program going. My schedule is just so full that I have a hard time fitting it in. I am looking at a possible change that will allow me to work out in the mornings on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. I pray it works out. I am still very much determined to be at a healthy weight living a healthy lifestyle.
I weighed in at 177.4 pounds this morning.
A good week I would say.
Loss is loss and that's worth celebrating! Woohoo!
Yesterday I started a 20 pound challenge. Me and one of my CC buddies are challenging ourself to lose 20 pounds by September 28. We started yesterday August 1. My starting weight was 178.2. I look forward to being 158 pounds by the end of this challenge. If anyone would like to join in you are welcome we are just on day 2. I welcome any words of encouragement I will be posting my progress.
I weighed in this morning at 174.0 pounds.
I am doing it. It feels good making healthy choices and seeing the results from them. I look forward to continued success.
This week I was back up to 175.8, but I am not discouraged. I know what I must do and by-golly I am going to do it.
Here's to drinking water, exercising, and making healthy choices.
