Milk alternative???
Does anyone know of a milk alternative that tastes close to real milk? I love milk, but MY GOD the gas it causes me... my lactose intolerance is starting to catch with me. I've tried soy milk and almond milk and just am not a fan of the nutty tastes of either. Any suggestions or brands I should try??
I'm pretty sure that they have lactose removed milk called Lactiad. My stepmom is lactose intolerant and she uses Lactaid pills everytime she has milk and she says it works perfectly.
there is rice dream milk too.. never tasted it before though.
There's also Lactaid milk, which i think tastes really good. It is a bit sweeter than regular milk, but it tastes delicious (and comes in skim, lowfat, and whole). Or, you could take the lactaid pills. I'm lactose intolerant as well, and at home I drink lactaid milk but when I'm out I always carry the pills so I can enjoy my dairy whenever.
If you can find it in your area, try to get some raw milk. It is milk that hasn't been homogenized or pasteurized. There is a lot of controversy over the risks of raw milk but I know the owner of a dairy here that makes it and he is also a paramedic, and he raves about the health benefits. It's really not a risk unless you have a compromised immune system, are really young, or really old. But they say the benefits include helping reduce asthma symptoms, reduce digestive problems, decrease inflammation, and for me the best thing is that it tastes at least a hundred times better than real milk. And the guy I know also said that people who are lactose intolerant can drink it without any problems. Hope it works for you!
8th continent light vanilla soymilk. yum yum.
I've tried a variety of non-dairy milks and, in my opinion, oat milk tastes the most like cow milk (it's a little sweeter though and hard to find). I'm really enjoying rice milk lately so I'd recommend that. Just make sure it has no added sugar, as rice milk is naturally sweet.

In my experience rice milk is the closest thing to the texture and taste of cows milk. I'm vegan and I usually go back and forth between almond milk and rice milk.
I buy lactose-free milk for my boyfriend.....I get the Lucerne brand from Vons, but I'm sure that every store has something similar. It tastes very close to real milk, but a little bit sweeter. I don't like to drink it straight from a glass, but in cereal, I can't notice the taste difference.
