Got milk? (or nut milk)

Just curious what kind of milk everyone drinks?

For me:
- 1% calcium-fortified milk
- So Nice unsweetened soymilk
- Blue Diamond original almond milk (can't find the unsweetened kind!)

Did you know they have potato milk too? I saw it at Safeway the other day! I wonder what it tastes like ;)

I saw potato milk, and powdered potato milk, mainly for cooking with allergies.

I drink:

Plain fortified rice milk

1% chocolate milk

I'm not much of a milk drinker. :P
I bought some fat free soy milk yesterday. So yummy I'm going to go out and buy 2 more litres!

My number one favorite healthy low cal food is "Almond Breeze" brand almond milk. The "Unsweetened Original" flavor has 40 calories for an 8 ounce glass and tastes really similar to milk. That means that when you use it in coffee or tea, you are only adding around 20 calories! Spread the word!

I had a friend tell me that it's impossible to have organic milk be fat free.  Which is why her family of organic-obsessed products drink organic fat milk while she drinks regular skim.

Also a big fan of "Almond Breeze" brand almond milk (unsweetened original).  For 40 cals per 8 oz, can't beat it.  I have it in my oatmeal or high fiber cereal every morning. I really like the taste.  I've never been fond of milk....whole, lowfat and esp. skim.

Regular ol' skim milkCool

Even the 1% tastes fatty to me. I'm just so used to skim.

me too, skim.

yea i dont like the tast of milk with fat it just doesnt taste right it taste like a nasty sensation in your mouth its very irratating.

I use regular skim milk

Vanilla flavored almond milk @ 80 calories per cup or vanilla flavored rice milk @120 calories per cup.  I don't drink it by the glass just in cereals. Very tasty!

Farm Fresh carries the unsweetened almond milk in their organic section.  I love that store!

im allergic to soy milk, i want to try   rice milk or oat milk, but then i wondered what is the point of drinking them other than the fact that they are white and milk like,  if they dont contain calcium or protein, its like drinking carbs.

I drink Natrel lactose free skim milk (11 grams protein) and occasionally regular skim milk (9 grams) for breakfast.

Since organic milk is simply milk from cows that have only been fed organic food and have not been given hormones/antibiotics/etc. and skimmed milk is just milk that's had the fat skimmed off the top, this makes no sense.  There's no reason why you couldn't skim the fat off organic milk.

Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla, mainly because I don't drink it a lot so regular one would go bad before I finish it. Frown

Soymilk! All day, every day.

Potato milk? WOW.

I love the unsweetened Almond Breeze, too. It is ridiculously low-cal, but I also like the taste and texture much better than chalky Soy milk. Rice milk is okay also, but a little more watery than Almond Breeze.

I keep seeing Oat milk in the store; has anyone tried this?

I have just made my first batch of nut milk - used walnuts and it tastes absolutely exquisite with oatmeal, YUM! I recommend switching to homemade nut/seed milk to anyone - cheaper, healthier and you can make as much as you like of it. And you have some nice leftovers of pulp you can use in cooking, baking, or just sprinkle on salads and cereal.

I used to drink Skim milk, but decided that I couldn't afford that many calories on liquid while trying to lose weight.

I found Almond Breeze Vanilla Unsweetened (added Splenda to it), and loved it!  However, $4/qt ($16/gallon) is just out of my price range.  Making my own is also too expensive...almonds are not cheap and I would have to order them online.

Now I have created my own cheap, low calorie milk using regular Skim Milk at 37 calories for 1- 8 oz cup:

2 c Skim Milk; 3 c Water; 1 tbsp Splenda; 2 tsp Splenda; and 1/4 tsp of imitation vanilla extract

It actually tastes pretty darn good.  It is too thin to use as creamer for coffee, but it works fine as creamer for tea.  It is also great in cereal.

I heard of a 0 calorie thickener that I am going to try adding to it, and see if that works.

Cheers!  Kristin

real  milk.
