Mindful and Thankful

Quote  |  Reply

I've been thinking a lot this week about being thankful and how that relates to being mindful.   For me, that would mean listing those things for which I am thankful while I'm sniveling about something else.

Mindful is being aware of being thankful.

Today, I was thankful for an impromptu walk with my husband.  Do you have something for which you are thankful right this minute?

What a wonderful thought, lithelady!

Right now, I am very thankful for a terrific colleague and friend. We work together so well and she makes coming to work great fun!

Must remember to tell her that at lunch!

Right this minute...

I'm thankful for a husband that loves me and thinks I'm sexy, no matter what size I am.

I'm thankful for a husband that tells me nearly every day how proud he is of me.

I'm thankful for a husband that spoils me rotten, to the best of his ability, and enjoys it.

I'm thankful for a husband that wants me to be happy, healthy, and around for a good long time, but loves me enough to ignore some of the things I do that aren't so healthy.

And....I'm thankful that they're all one man! ;)

It's been thirteen days since I started this thread, and I apologize for not posting here again.

Jannid, you're really lucky to have found such a wonderful friend in your colleague at work.  Did you tell her so that day?  You inspired me to again tell my husband how I felt about his taking the time to walk with me.

Dramaqun, indeed, we could go on and on and on...  And, I don't recognize often enough the gifts I've been given.  Thanks for the reminder!

Charleet, you are definitely one lucky woman!!!

Today, this minute, I am thankful for CC.

I am also thankful to be able to go outside in the glorious sunshine to putter in my garden -- now!

Hope you all have a terrific week!

I am thankful for my CC friends.

I'm also thankful for the above mentioned as you all are. Today I'm thankful that I never seem to give up completely. Again I'm starting over and refuse to believe I can't make it some day. ( this train of though got me through quieting smoking some 20 years ago. I'm sure it will work with my non stop eating). I just got back from camping yesterday. We always eat like there is no tomorrow. It also gets me in the mood to start eating healthy again. I crave a GREAT salad, or a nice piece of fish. Thanks for always accepting me back in the group. No matter how long the time periods are in between!! Love you all!!

Welcome back, iam52!  Yes, the ability to refuse to give up when something is important is definitely a gift!  Best of luck to you!

This morning I am thankful for cucumbers and zucchini in abundance!

CoolToday I am thankful for the birds and basil.

I thankful for the love and understanding from my husband.

This morning I am thankful for the gift of another day with MIL.

this morning I am thankful for my CC friend lsami and her journal post regarding the following Buddhist idea:

"...live a wise life. Live well but sensibly. Do not attach too much to the results of your actions but do act wisely. Let kindness and compassion for others and yourself guide you."

I am thankful that she reminded me that I need to treat myself with loving kindness and compassion. I am reminded that if I eat poorly or choose to react to stress in a way that is not good for my body, I am acting in a violent way towards myself. This is not something I would do to others, so why do it to myself?

Today I will act wisely and be kind to me. I will hold my health to the same level of compassion as I hold the well being of my friends and family.

On my way to posting, I found jannid's post, and am thankful to jannid for sharing the Buddhist idea shared by lsami.  Thanks to lsami as well!  This morning I am thankful for the gift of another new day in which to practice my healthy living plan.

This morning, I am thankful for the ability to be patient.

I am thankful for being able to nourish my body with good food.

I am thankful for coffee and good books. I am thankful for lazy Saturdays spent in my pajamas playing with my daughter - who I'm also thankful for. (Except when she's fussy, and then I'm thankful for naptime.)

I'm thankful for my husband who supports me in all of my endeavors.

I'm thankful for my parents love, advice, and friendship.

I am thankful that the SU and I are still employed and that we have health insurance.

I am thankful once again for that same colleague and just told her so!

I am thankful that I have not gained back any of the weight lost so far and am especially thankful that I no longer feel anxiety about the process of weight loss.

I am thankful for sweet potatoes and all vegetables & fruit in their season.

Smile I am grateful for my strong body that still works so well for me.
