Pros, Cons?? I need a new foundation. There seems to be so many products on the market - it's confusing. I have no skin problems but a little on dry side, if anything. Appreciate any advice/thoughts.
i dont wear makeup.
i did buy my daughter a bunch of the bare minerals/bare escentuals products because i didnt care for the way her foundation looked when she was starting to use it in high school (of course i didnt bring that up).
anyways, shes been using it for two or three years now and is never going back to regular makeup. she will now shell out her own hard-earned money on it even though it is rather pricey.
Bare Minerals is rather pricy and can be interesting to find (can't get it at Target, gotta go to a specialty store here), but I love it to death. I'll never go back to regular foundation either.
Get a big kabuki brush with it though. Works the best.
kabuki is just fun to say :)
just wanted to add that girlchild did try a wannabe brand once that was cheaper. said she would never do that again, but she did learn thatyou get what you pay for.
I use a combo of neutrogena and bare minerals products. I have horrible skin that is sometimes oily, sometimes dry, AND I have to deal with adult acne. I have found that neutrogena is the best makeup for preventing/treating my acne and bare minerals is the best for making any skin type look fantastic, without making me break out.
It's expensive to buy at first, but each compact lasts a really long time because you don't have to use very much at a time. Even if you decide to go with something else for your foundation, you may want to consider just getting the mineral veil for a finishing touch...I think that is what gives the pretty "airbrushed" look that makes bare minerals popular in the first place. When I am rushed to get ready, I will only use that(takes about 5 seconds to apply) and it will even out my skintones and conceal some stuff without having to go through my full routine.
Have never tried Bare Minerals, although I'd like to someday.
I've been using Physicians Formula organics/natural line of tinted moisturizer. I really like it. I didn't think it would provide good coverage but it does. And I don't get greasy with it on.
I have the covergirl mineral foundation. It gives more coverage than I thought it would, and I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't make me break out, and all other types of liquid foundations I've tried and even Neutrogena mineral makeup make me break out. They need more colors though. I am pretty pale, but the lightest shade was too light and the next darkest shade was too dark.
I have really liked Bare Minerals - and the only reason I switched to a different brand is that there isn't a store for it around where I live. I am using MAC Minerals now and live it just as much except that it has a sponge applicator and I prefer the brush.
I have been using mineral makeup probably since it came out. It is so easy to use and looks great.
I did discover 1 drawback for this makeup. Because there are so many light reflecting pigments in it, it is not a good choice to wear it in photos. I was so happy to find this out BEFORE my wedding :).
I would say give it a try. I won't wear anything else!

I just wanted to mention that this happened to a friend of mine...it was liquid foundation, not the mineral stuff though...what she did is buy both bottles of foundation and blended them together to get her shade. Not sure if that would work for mineral makeup??
Step 1- Go to a department store and Choose Clinique, MAC, Benefit, or Bare Minerals. Or talk to all of the reps. They will probably all be knowledgeable. Whatever the brand, make sure they ask your skin type, and choose a foundation accordingly. Clinique has a good questionnaire to help determine this.
Bare Minerals is a great option if you tend to break out. However, it is very light and doesn't bode well on my oily face.
So if you are looking for more coverage, it isn't the best. While it goes on nicely, it doesn't stay on all day and requires more touch-ups than other foundations. Light, like I said. Good for keeping acne under control, not great at hiding it.
I like Benefit playsticks as my foundation, with a good moisturizer (like Benefit or MAC or even Neutrogena). But I also use Bare Minerals as a powder, if I need to touch up.
I think most people like Bare Minerals- myself included. It's worth a try, but if you have dry skin, you'll need a good moisturizer. Those powders tend to accentuate the little flaky pieces of skin.
I have very oily skin and have had good luck with Loreal mineral makeup. It is the only thing I have ever tried that does not cake up.
I have been using MAC mineral makeup for years and I swear by it - I quite often get compliments on how smooth and polished my skin looks!
I love the Bare Esscentuals make up. I don't wear make up everyday, but when I do I prefer a powder foundation as it feels lighter to me on my skin. Also it seems to absorb oil throughout the day which helps me. I order it online through Sephora so I get free shipping and some extra samples.
Bare Minerals is the best makeup that I've ever used on my face. I have horrid acne and it's perfect when I'm using Bare Minerals. I just ran out unfortunately and I've been having to use some MAC mineral stuff that I had in my makeup drawer and it's making my face turn into a pepperoni pizza it's gross. Bare Minerals is like $25 for the foundation and the mineral veil and bronzer/blushes are probably going to run you about another $25, so it's super expensive, but it lasts about 2 months.
Try everyday minerals. If you go to everydayminerals.com you can buy a "free sample" pack. The Pack itself is free and you only pay $3 for the shipping. You get three sample containers of three different shades of foundation you want; a container of blush in any shade you want; and a container of concealer in any shade. It's enough for multiple uses and you don't have to commit to a large purchase. Also, they're a lot more inexpensive than bare minerals.

I LOVE Sephora's!! I ordered the Bare Escentuals Mineral veil alone, as I don't wear colored foundation on my skin but need shine balancing properties and love a "finished" look at work in a dressy atmosphere.
I was relatively pleased, I was expecting a more "makeup-y" look but after I got used to it I did appreciate the subtle way it improved the soft look of my skin under horrid overhead lighting. It sets my powder blush and eyeshadow and I feel makes the colors stay put rather than fall off onto my face. I would recommend it over MAC's mattifying powder compact, which is dulling and flat in comparison. However on busy nights where I am slightly sweaty from running around it won't completely prevent shine from returning to my forehead. And forget about storing it in a drawer at work, it's too messy to travel with.
One last tip if you like a dewy natural glow, sometimes I spritz Sephora's radiance spray($12) over last thing before I walk out the door. it doesn't add sheen, just glow and removed the powder-dry look of all the makeup on my skin.
You can't beat free shipping and 3 samples per order!! I love love love the samples, I got a primer from "fresh", nina ricci perfume, anastasia's brow powder(lasted me months!!).
I started using bare minerals when I was in highschool and will never use anything else. It always looks great and helps with my oily skin. It looks so flawless and I can put it on without a mirror if I need to. It is expensive but it does last a long time. The starter kits @ Sephora are pretty reasonable and come with the brushes and everything.
I agree with monkey08us! I absolutely love Everyday Minerals. There is a huge variety of shades/colors/products, all very affordable and high quality. Not to mention it lasts for a long time. Be sure to check out "specials" under "community".
I'm sorry I can't remember the name! But if you're into organic stuff, just go to the drug store and you'll see a whole line of products!!

I find this is pretty much true for a lot of products - I'm amazed at the number of organic things I can't find anywhere else but Walgreen's.
I love Bare Minerals, but I did once try Physician's Formula, and it's pretty good as well. There are quite a few loose powder mineral make up lines out there, so you don't necessarily have to go with the expensive stuff to get the benefits.
