What mini-goals did you achieve today?
So I'm back tracked a little bit right now, because I just overcame finals week (and as some of you may know..finals are STRESSFUL). The chef at my sorority house prepared 24hour study snacks for us, which included pizza, brownies, danish pastries, etc. Sadly, when I am up cramming for an exam at 3 AM and the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies arrive, I lose all my will power. And you know when you deprive yourself of all junk food, you tend to over eat it in the end? That's what happened to me all last week.
BUT!
This is a new day, and so far I have achieved 3 mini goals
-Half way through eating a large piece of cheesecake, I told myself to STOP
-When I was craving for the other half, I had an apple instead
-This morning I had a big bowl of oatmeal instead of a big bowl of sugar-coated cereal (I even threw out the box!)
SO- What mini-goals did YOU achieve today!?
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Motivation forum; 5/27/08 stickied for a week; 6/2/08 unstickied.
Hey! Great job. I too got done with finals week, although it was a week ago. However, all week I've been doing well, I just haven't been losing anything... granted, its just a week, it'll catch up I'm sure...
I have:
-made it to every swim practice this week. (they were all very difficult)
-bought my own food and cooked healthily for myself all week! (This is a first... I'm used to dorm food)
-Averaged under 2000 calories per day for 7 days now. (There were 1800 calories most days and 2400 calories one day.) Since my eating goal is 1800-1900, but I burn around 2400-2600, I'm very happy with this!
-Established a plan that I think I can stick to for life. Or at least for the next 3 years, even though I hope to be done with weight loss by december at the very latest.
I was craving chocolate BADLY .. a snickers bar actually 2 b more precise lol .. but I chose a slimfast choc bar insted.. 99 cals :)
Did about twenty minutes of yoga.
I had fruit!
I didn't dwell on the fact my bf is 2 states away
I am making a new orientation packet for the hospital =)
I went out and bought clothes without crying in the dressing room. I don't think I've ever done that before. =)
After my left-over taco omelette breakfast, I'm working on a half cup of macaroni salad for lunch and leftover salad/veggie platter from yesterday. Dinner will be wedding cake and Subway, which I've got about eight hundred calories saved up for.
I did not have any snack at work and I only had one cup of coffee. Yesterday I went to a party and definitely had lots more calories than normal, so I am trying to be very good even though today I've been hungry and tomorrow is a picnic.
i finally managed to keep my cal intake low (1000). My normal intake has been around 1700.
my goal is to keep my cal intake less than 1200 on an average this week + try to exercise at least 5 days.
my family has a bowl of chocolate set out on the table every sunday afternoon, today i ate yogurt with granola and blackberries instead! and good for you!!
I got my exercise done this morning first thing. I am trying to exercise before breakfast at least once a week. Nailed that and it's just Monday (though the bank holiday helps)
Hey great thread, and well done everyone! Andy good for you with the early morning exercise! I found myself with an extra 10 minutes before work this morning and I did some situps and jumping jacks.
I am SO craving sweets right now and there is a vending machine outside my door but I have resisted so far. Although it's only 10:40am ...
Today we went out on the boat with a bunch of friends, and I managed to resist temptation! I made some amazing raspberry sweet (splenda) tea, and that helped me resist all the unhealthy stuff laying around. : ) I managed to snack on some delicious cherries, enjoy my open faced turkey sandwich and look hot in my bikini, lol!
Boat outings have always resulted in me doing some hardcore snacking, so this was an exciting mini-victory. Plus, now I have the calories to enjoy a burger on the grill tonight and be under my daily limit (god bless 96% lean ground beef!). : )
good for you fighead, social situations are tough on diet plans
my grand accomplishment for today- low cal intake (1300). Still ate bulk of the cals in the 2nd half of the day but at least it wasn't a lot.
goal for tomorrow: 1300 cal intake + Run 25 min + Ski Machine 15 mins + Abs 6 sets of 20 reps
It is also finals week for me, and I fought off my inevitable enemy today: cookies.
I normally buy a cookie after I eat lunch every day; however, remembering that sugar intake on the day of a big test can hinder your brain power, I finally disciplined myself to do without that bit of extra sugar.
A little self-discipline can go a long way!
I finally got back on calorie count and logged in my breakfast. When I can back into routine I can stick with it but when I lose the routine, I put on weight. Now I have to get back to exercise as well. Thanks for helping me remember that its important to put one foot in front of the other.
now at 10pm, I can say I just had my first good day in several weeks. I think for me its important to read the discussion board and get connected. Some folks at work want to start an informal "weight watchers' group - no leader, just us. I'm the manager for several of them. Has anyone does this before? Will it be weird?
I finally made it to Onederland and it feels great. So far I have lost 112 lbs from the start of my new life. I had been hovering around 201 for weeks on end and I finally got the scale to move to 198. I haven't been this low since I had my daughter almost 20 years ago.

I'm back on week 3 of Learn to Run (thread in fitness forum). My husband and I separated and when he announced it, I stopped eating and running/working out. I had to rebuild my body and now I restarted where I left off. And doing better!!
I was determined to keep at it and now I'm back on track. 5k in 37 minutes, walking 2, running 3.
