minimal...but fatty

I eat a fairly small amount of food...usually around 400-600 cals a day.

but what I do eat is usually fatty foods like Mickie D's fries, cookies, icecream, ect.

Is this stil bad for me.

Yep

Not only are you not taking in enough calories, you're not getting proper nutrition

You are starving yourself.

I see from your other post you are a 14 year old male.

You should be eating a minimum of 1800 calories per day.

  • MOLLY

How you are eatin maccys n only gettin 400-600 a day astounds me, are you only eating one meal a day?

You sound like a teenager -- I apologize in advance if you are not -- therefore you are in the middle of prime growing right now -- height and muscle, not to mention brain and other organs. You need a minimum of 1500 (1800 for a male).  Regardless of WHAT you are eating, the minimum calories is WAY too low to sustain you.

CC tools won't help you as they are specifically designed for Adults.  Check out these sites:

This should be a no-brainer.  Of course its not good for you.  Where is the healthy food in your equation?  If you want to end up with high-triglycerides and high cholesterol then keep eating like that.  Do a little more research and learn to eat healthier.  If you have a day that you eat like that, make sure you balance it out with fruits and veggies, whole-grains, and dairy.  It's okay to have "cheat" days, but if you eat that all the time, its not good for you.

First and foremost I want to say that in no way did I PROMOTE starving yourself. I'm not doing that, and there's reason to question how I do things.

Thanks to most of you for the info.

skinnyjeans, how is eating only 400-600 calories a day NOT starving yourself? Just because your body doesn't say it's "hungry" doesn't mean you aren't. You've trained it to eat very little,  but you need to eat more if you're going to continue to grow properly and function. Eventually you're going to get very sick, because not only are you not eating healthy foods, you're also not eating anywhere near enough to support your body.

I used to not be hungry on only 900-1200 calories a day. I was still starving myself. Once I started eating more I regained the feeling of hunger.

yes, you are starving yourself. not only are you depriving your body of an adequate amount of calories, you're depriving it of nutrition.

Skinnyjeans42 ~ 400 - 600 calories IS a starvation diet.  As Alicia (armandleg) mentioned, you may not feel like you are starving your body but in actuallity you are.  Your body needs a certain amount of calories each day to just function.

Please note that CC's tools are geared towards adults only.  Please check out the calculators that Coach_K referenced above.

Here's a great explanation of the starvation mode theory and why it's better to try for a weight loss of 1 - 2 lbs a week:

However, I must advise you that since you are aware of how many calories you should be eating but you choose to eat less, this website does not and cannot support starvation diets.  In fact, here is what our posting guidelines say specifically:

OMG, yes!  You're sucking in empty calories.

We'll just use this hamburger as an example.  For that 740 calories, I get to eat

    1 cup of 2% milk (9% A, 29% Calcium, 1% C)

3/4 cup of multigrain cereal (3% Calcium, 8% Iron)

    1 pear  (2% Calcium, 10% C)

1 cup of Yoplait Light Yogurt (15% A, 20% Calcium)

    2 cups of grapes (Vitamin A 2%  Vitamin C 6% Calcium 1% Iron 1%)

and a turkey sandwich with cheese.

    Bread (Calcium 6%, Iron 8%), Turkey (10g of protien), Onions (1% Calcium, 5% Vitamin C), Romane Lettuce (12% A, 4% C, 1% Iron), Cheese (8% A, 20% Calcium)

Totals 47% Vitamin A, 80% Calcium, 26% Vitamin C, 18% Iron and that's just getting me through lunch.  I still have dinner and a snack to go.  Compared to your 10% A, 4% C, 30% Calcium, and 45% Iron, which one of us do you think is better nourished.  You also have the disadvantage of still growing.  Your nutritional requirements are even higher than mine, since I'm done growing.
