I have an excercise video that does exactly what you are talking about.  (Jillian Michaels 30 day shred) its a brief warm up then 3 sets of: 3mins strength, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs.  I have been doing it for several months now and thought it has worked great for me.  I feel like I am getting a full workout in and burning a lot of calories, since I am usually dead tired ready to fall over by the end of it!  The think about 20 min workouts though, is you have to go fast and hard to get the full benefit, if you slack off even a little its just not as effective.

Ok great, thanks for your response. How often do you do it in a week?

How has it helped? I am trying to loose 10 pounds, current stats are 51 & around 124 pounds

Most strength training should only be done every second day at most, so 3 times a week would be good, at least at first - gives you a reasonable compromise between working out often enough that your body gets and adaptive challenge, and not so often that it can't recover and get stronger between workouts ;)

Your workout examples look set to be about 24-30 minutes of non-stop motion - as long as you keep that up and the workout intensity high, you should see results you're going to like - for the first few months. Your body is good at adapting and after a couple months you need to change the moves you're doing to keep the results coming but that's generally true of every kind of workout. Oh, check out this bodyweight-based home workout for one example you can use later, when you're in the market for a change of pace for a month ;)

I try to do it 3-5 times a week, the strength training i do is really not all that intense, mostly pushups type exercises and when I do stuff with weights I only use 3 pound weights.  I have been doing it off and on for like 6 months maybe and combined with diet I have lost about 30 pounds in 7 months

I have heard weightloss is 80% diet and 20% exercise so I would attribute most of my weight loss to changing my eating habits than working out, but my workouts have definately helped keep me toned and help me get a 6 pack started!
