15 Minutes Everyday? Or 30 minutes 3 times a week.
Which is better? I really hate working out, I never get that 'feel better' feeling. And I'm looking to find it to keep me working out. Do I work out longer? Or more times a week? I have time to do it everyday. But I was wondering if I go longer, with rest periods, or keep it up every morning.
I'd love some advice!
OOOh I would like to know too, I never know which one is best and I don't get much out of it when I do it :(
I think I have heard that in order to get losing and increase your cardio-vascular health, you need to have your heart rate elevated for at least 30 minutes. If you are keeping your heart rate in the "fat burn" portion, you actually will not start burning fat until after 20 minutes, at least according to the trainer at my gym. SO I would go longer rather than shorter, as it would really be not fun to be working out and seeing no results.
yeah, i think the key is to find something you like. dacing is often not seen as excercise, but it is, so if you like to dance, do it 3 times a week (most classes r at least 1 hr) and not only will u be losing weight, but you`re having fun too! you vould also go on long walks/bike rides. or you can get off one bus stop/metro(or subway, wutever u call it in ur country) early and walk the rest of teh way. but you SHOULD ain for 30 mins 4-5 times a week, no less. at least, as far as i know... i`m not a specialist, but that`s what i`ve read up about and what they`ve told me at the gym...
I think the feel good feeling comes from endorphins which are going to kick in better if you exercise more strenuously and for longer and cardio rather than weights (although weights works too). I also feel better after a work out session because I used the time to think, relax and focus on myself. It's "me" time. I also set goals and mini challenges so that I feel pride and accomplishment when I am done. After weeks of working out regularly you may also notice that you have more energy and feel better - but you have to take the time to feel these things.
Just keep at it! You can do it!
what is your reason for working out? Cardiovascular health, losing weight, muscle tone, seeing that cute friend at the gym ;) lol I would imagine the answer depends on the reason. I want to lose fat so I do cardio everyday, at least twice, 40 minutes sessions. It is addicting and once you get a routine going you will be arguing with yourself to take a rest day vs the arguing most are doing about getting the cardio going.
I read in a fitness magazine that it is actually better to take short breaks during a workout(get you HR down then start back up again) This was a study where people stopped exercising after a half an hour in their 1 hour workout instead of just exercising straight through the hour and the people who took the break burned more calories thus lost more weight:-).I don't know if it works the same if you usually worked out 30 mins and then took a break after 15 mins.I would think so though? Not sure?
