What do you miss eating?
when you are dieting what do you miss eating the most?
Reason: Released as sticky
I don't think anyone should ever limit themselves to a point they have to miss eating certain foods because they don't ever have them again. Moderation is key and good and part of a healthy diet - "healthy diet", in my definition, meaning having some of the unhealthy too.
Though, if we're talking on a day to day basis - I can understand missing eating something from the day to day.
I'm not dieting - gaining, rather - but my lactose intolerance... ahh. I miss cheese. Really pungent cheese. The kind that you smell and think "granddad's socks" but tastes oh so good.
I have a slight intolerance towards cheese as well. I miss anything with cheese.
It is just milk, or lactose that you have trouble with, driftpsychosis? My lactose intolerance is bad, to a point even yoghurt makes me bloat and gives my stomach trouble. Thus, I miss all dairy products (and some things with lactose in them; having to avoid frankfurters/hot dogs because most brands contain milk derivatives sucks :|) on a whole, but it's those stinky cheeses that really get me. I've broken down and eaten some on the odd occasion. Painful but worth it, lol. XD
i miss eating things like, a bite of someone's pizza, or 1 chip from a bag, or a free sample from a bakery, etc.
i just miss eating things that i didn't know the exact calorie-count for.
Jalapeno poppers. And hot wings with bleu cheese. I still have them once in a while but I used to have them OFTEN and I have to say they are both very very enjoyable.
I miss my late Mom's cooking, especially her cooking the big holiday feasts. Now I haz a sad.
Erica, I agree, if I want a food I'll eat it in moderation and I've always eaten well - never been a big fan of fried foods or fast foods but I miss just mindlessly tasting.
I went for chinese yesterday for christmas and I was personally very happy with steamed veggies but I missed just picking at the chips and having a bite of my boyfriend's fried-whatever and not thinking, "that's gotta be a couple hundred extra calories". Or even wondering how many calories were in the fortune cookie or the hard candy I grabbed while walking out.

This is a great post. If you are on a diet where you eliminate something you love completely you will not stick to it.
i never seems to be missing anything nowadays.. i tried to include ice cream and chocolates as meal substitution whenever I doesn't feel extremely hungry..p/s : chocolates really filling
Now, I doesn't care much about healthiness.. lose weight is all about calories.. still, the food i love now is fruit, veg, and tofu, so i'm still in the healthy categories..
I agree that you shouldn't deprive yourself because that isn't lifestyle that you can maintain, only eating healthy foods all of the time. But some foods are just so insanely high in fat and calories that I really just can't bring myself to eat them anymore. Like McDonald's fries, or fried chicken from KFC which are the 2 things that I miss by the way.
brownie batter...my best friend and i would each make a batch and eat the whole thing....like i'd make a box for me and she for her! yeah...we didn't count calories back in those days. and i wondered why i couldn't lose weight! i can't even have the stuff in the house because i know i'll just unload on it.
Thanks, Tonyrocks922! It's very true, though. :]
Bugsyhair: I don't know if you're being serious but that made me go "aww" aloud. D:
Deerocks: A small fries at McDonalds is 250 calories. A hamburger at McDonalds, also 250 calories. You could then get a diet coke, or water. That's only 500 calories, which is very easily slotted into anyone's day.
At KFC, an original recipe chicken salad without the dressing is 246 calories. A kids popcorn chicken is 140 calories. A regular side of baked beans is 79 and a corn on the cob is 145.
Simply put, it's easy to work calories in and eat at a fast food place while dieting, once in a while!
jam donuts.
kfc...
mc chicken burgers from macdonalds.
the list could go on forever....
funnily enough i dont miss chocolate.
Yup, I was being serious. My Mom passed away December 23, 2004. Holiday dinners at her house were always special. She was very skilled in the kitchen.

I am certainly going to miss Kentucky Fried Chicken, as well as Chinese-style honey king prawns. Krispy Kreme donuts, onion rings, cheese naan, ice-cream sandwiches, vanilla cupcakes and reese's peanut butter cups will also be sorely missed.
I miss eating without spending hours obsessing about it/panicking about the calories.
Stuff I haven't eaten in YEARS that I love but am scared to eat:
- homemade banoffee pie
- my old favorites from Chinese restaurants: duck w/ pancakes, lemon chicken, deep fried chilli beef
- chicken shwarma on Iraqi flatbread w/ hoummus, tahini, salad + hot sauce
- my dad's baked rice pudding
- my mom's brisket and corn pudding
actually, most of my mom's cooking... I have only eaten the stuff she has made that I have hovered over her shoulder watching exactly what goes in it for the last um...14 (?) years.
Nothing, I eat what I want. Its not about what you eat. No, its how you eat it. I had 2 chipolte burritos this week, and I lost 3 LBs. Infact I didn't eat enough food yesterday and I had the burrito. The burrito took me a good 5 hours to eat, and I did exercise those days, my body wanted it. However after I started I lost my ability to eat a full cheeseburger and have come to dislike the fast food ones. I can't even stand sodas. Body is rarely the enemy. Restrictions only make it impossible.
Once your body is doing well, it wont be able to stand the food, many people report that Twinkies have a disgusting metallic taste. Though I do suppose I miss eating pizza as much as I use to. Only once or twice a month now.
I haven't eliminated any foods from my nutrition intake. I just plan for what ever the offense is going to be
and make the adjustments to the rest of the food for the day. Of course if the said offense is dinner then I've got an oh!oh! but I don't let it become a poor me
, I just let it go, tomorrow is a new day. ![]()
