i miss fooooooooooood
lol..... how many over here had the chance to attend a full fat 45 dishes bufffet?... i did...and i tried EVERYTHING.....YES EVERYTHING.... even if it was just a bite i tried them all...... there was just so much junk that i miss...... and then i took another two days holiday just so that i could eat junk....even though my tummy use to full with normal nonfat meals, but i would still force mysef to eat a nice big mac...or icecream....mmmm cakes and pastries just because ive missed it soo much. SO after three four days of over digestion.......i gained 5lbs......discouraged... pain, agony anger ...I FEEL LIKE THROWING AWAY ANY FOOD IN SIGHT... i knew im about to gain...but i still wanted all the goodies. and now im so sad cuz im in competetion with a friend whose already 114 lbs and im back to 147 lbs.....long way to goooo...help... sniff sniffff i feel like crying or maybe beat up my thin friend now
lol physical violence is not the answer!!
I wouldn't worry about the 5lbs, there is NO way you could gain that much fat in that short time - you'd have to eat 17,500 calories MORE then you burned!!! Most of that is just water weight from the amount of food that you ate, and the sodium that comes along with all processed food. Drink lots of water and it'll flush out in a couple of days.
MAKE SURE you don't try to compensate by cutting back on your calories - that'll just make you starving, which increases your chances of bingeing, which can lead to a nasty restrict/binge cycle. Just go back to your normal eating patterns and chalk those few days up to exactly what they were.....vacation!!
Don't lose heart and don't beat yourself up over it. I cheat at least once a week - it's good for your state of mind. :)
Also....one last thing. Even though you want to beat your friend in your competition of course, don't forget that if you end up with a healthier body and lifestyle, you've won as well. ......Okay, that was way too after-school special so I'm ending this post now lol.
haha it's ok! I've had those weeks MANY MANY time. I had a whole summer of that this past summer (I gained ten pounds, which sucks because I was at my goal weight).
The reason you have probably been missing food so much is because you've been restricting yourself TOO MUCH. Everything in moderation is a very good philosophy. You'll end up losing a lot of weight and KEEPING IT OFF if you make it a lifestyle change instead of a diet. Eat whole grains, lean meats, and LOTS AND LOTS of veggies, and then at the end of the day if you think you've been good reward yourself with a LITTLE dessert (I recommend Skinny-cow low fat fudge bars. They're AMAZING and big and they only have 100 calories). That way you won't miss food so much and you won't end up binging again.
p.s. you shouldn't compete with your "skinny friend". You should do this for you. It will only make you feel bad about yourself to compare yourself to her.
Good luck! And if you need any other little tips or anything feel free to message me. I've learned a lot of little tricks to dieting without feeling like you're dieting.
Good advice! You've had a little "vacation," and now it's time to get back on track in a sensible way. Hey, if I had a chance at a buffet like that, I'd go for it, too, and enjoy my time away from my usual routine. That's whay I like to think of these days or times as a "vacation," not a "binge." We use vacations to break up our routine, and it is GOOD for us. In real life, a vacation is special, something we can do only a few times a year and not necessarily for days on end, right? So with the eating.
But we also find ways to relax during our "regular, routine days" and just like that, we need to keep fun foods in our "regular" diet, but in reasonable, controlled portions. You wouldn't just walk out of work or school to go to a movie, right? So having a cookie should be planned along with the rest of your day.
You haven't done any real harm. I came back from an actual vacation a few lbs up (3 or 4, I think) and I showed a 6 lb loss over that first week back. Water and sodium cause most of the weight gain, not fat increase. And even if you go up a lb or two, so what? it'll come off in a week or so and you'll be right back on track.
Good luck.
Everyone here has pretty much given you really great advise.
I have to say ditto to everything already said.
but remember this - while this is a lifestyle change, you must also allow yourself to live. Allow yourself a maintenance day - that is, a day where you can eat up to your burn number - so if you burn 2000 calories in a 24hour period, before exercise is logged, then allow yourself one day a week, two weeks or month - whatever you want, to eat whatever you want up to that number.
My promise to myself when I began my journey to health, was that I would never deny myself my one passion - chocolate. I keep a bag of Hershy's Bliss milk chocolate candy in the freezer, and treat myself to one piece whenever I want - up to 2 pcs a day. (serving is 5pcs at 210 cals, i think).
ANd don't ever regret what you eat. If you went over and completely blew your day, dust it off and start fresh the next morning, but remember it as a lesson learned.
GOod luck!
no fear, it happens! this week i was way of my game, in spite of my best attempts and intentions.
Monday: canadas wonderland--shared a burger and fries for lunch, then later a hot dog and a slurpee
Tuesday: shopping at the mall had Chinese for lunch (more rice than i ususally have)
Wednesday: husbands office bbq--snacks and then veggie burger (high cal buns)
Thursday: parents and out of town relatives came to visit, brought take out for dinner---more rice!!
And because of the crazy schedule i didnt get to my workout as often as i should have.
I've gained 1 lbs since last week...not much i know and its probably just water. But in the last couple of weeks i would have freaked out, esp since i had a month long plateau. But i realize now that the weight battle is not a straight line downhill like a kid on a skateboard. Its a rollar coaster with some big hills and some little hills.
Dont sweat it and dont beat yourself up just get back on your horse and ride!!
WOW U guys are soo correct....i deserved a lil treat , since months my brothers have been eating all junk infront of me while i eat boiled vegetables and fruits. SO is it true that the 5 pounds i gained in these days..(which sounds like magic i know) will go away once i go back to my old routine?...... it just feels soo bad u know when ur working so hard and a lil lazy vacation gives u back so much so quick...... and then the whole process becomes longer since now i have to lose 27 lbs instead of 22..... sniff snifff.... and for some weird reason i want to make sure i end up being slimmer than this fat-turn-thin friend of mine.....
..... HOW will i stay motivated....sometimes im scared of myself what if i never reach my goal or give up or gain more instead or spoil the whole diet routine or etc etc.......![]()
I so know the feeling! When you first start losing weight, it's easy to become obsessed with the end goal and focus on that too much. This isn't a race. It took you this many years to get to this weight - don't expect the loss to be any faster. Be be patient, if you have more good days then bad, it'll come off bit by bit. Just focus on one day at a time and the motivation is easier. Give yourself mini goals - 22 pounds is a big chunk and can be very daunting. Every lb lost should be celebrated! I started calling my mom every time I lost a pound, so she would know I wasn't losing if she didn't get a call from me. That helped me stay motivated cuz it was so much fun to call her and say "guess what mom"! And of course, your mom is your biggest cheerleader so she would be so excited for me no matter how many times we've had the same conversation lol.
