What do you miss most?

Quote  |  Reply

I thought it might be fun to let everyone know what kind of food or drink we miss the most since beginning our new lives.

Beer: Being the good old Canadian boy that I am, I miss my beer. Hockey just ain't the same without my precious beer. I have one or two beers every couple of weeks for a treat. I can't remember the last time I had one though. :(

Olive oil: I miss the quantity of olive oil that I used to use . I do use it for cooking and salads but now I have to measure the stupid stuff since I've realized how many calories there is in it. Stupid oil! :)

You can have whatever you want as long as it's in moderation.  Deprivation will only cause you to binge.

OK folks, this is just for fun. Everyone understands that you can have anything in moderation and I certainly don't deprive myself. I want to hear from the people that will eat a small piece of chocolate now whereas previously they would have eaten the entire chocolate Easter bunny. :)

Beltline Bar Meat and Bean Wet Burrito and really good pan pizza with spicy pepperoni.  Mmmmm yummy.

I also miss my occasional Saturday morning splurge of a McDonald's Bacon, Egg and Cheese biscuit with a side of hashbrowns.

I haven't had any of those in years.  And there's no "moderation" option either.  I know if I had any of those three again I would start craving them like crazy and my healthy lifestyle would take a nosedive.

Baklava

Full fat white mochas

Full fat sour cream

Super carne asada burrito

And really, just eating whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like. Which is how I ended up here to begin with, but yeah.

I'd have to agree on the mochas, and just eating whatever and whenever.  I just started this (1 mth 3/11).  I think I miss the 'ease'.  Being a single mom and working all day and then coming home and cooking can get rough.  So right now, even though I enjoy cooking, I miss the 'ease' of being able to pick something ready made from a store or restraunt.  But, alas, I know this will pay off for me and my daughter, so onward and forward.

BIG bacon cheeseburgers with fries a milkshake and dessert!!! YUM

But nope....cant have that lol.

But i really dont think theres anything else that I would want or miss that I dont still eat.So yea.....just that one thing.

And ofcourse I guess eating when, how much, and what I wanted.

i was just saying today to my friend - I miss this one Chinese brand instant noodle (the one with the japanese cartoon boy - chud cheen yut ding!) With the sodium in it and the msg, it's beyond a dieting/calorie restriction concern - it's just flat out not good for you. but BOOOOOOOY do i miss it - with some sausage and egg yum yum yum

i also miss:
- mcdonald fries
- cheese (if i could marry cheese, i would)
- nachos w/ sour cream, gauc, salsa

I could go on for hours lol..but ill pick a select few

Mcdonalds - everything, Perogies, baked potatoe with bacon, sourcream and lotsa cheese, bagels with cream cheese, slurpees, oh henrey bars, tim hortons cookies, donuts.. i could go on forever!!

I miss being able to snag all the good chocolates out of a box of chocolate before my boyfriend can get to them. I also miss being able to eat out twice in one day, although sometimes I do anyway.

There was a time where I would buy a 20 pack of Timbits and eat the whole damn thing. That's like 4000 calories. Yikes!

Onion rings, and fried fish and seafood at the wharf. Now whenever (rarely if ever) I have them, I always share with two/three people even though the portions aren't so big. But sometimes I want to just eat the entire box for myself :)

Only been doing this for a few weeks and already I miss things.

-Full fat cheese, milk, sour cream, yogurt, and did I say cheese?

-Being able to sit and have a "big meal" with the people at work.

-Crisscut fries from Carl's JR.

-Having days where I would have like two king sized snickers or twix bars. Mmmmmm.

I still eat chocolate and caramel every day. I have -one- Riesen. At 43 calories it is totally worth it. I have really learned to savor that dark chocolate and caramel!! It is my (not so) secret indulgence every day.

I'm pretty good about letting myself eat what I want and working to control the portions. The sucky part is that when you realize the extra small serving of chocolate brownie, while yummy and totally worth it, should be considered lunch calorie-wise.

The thing I miss the most is cheese. We have fantastic cheese here and I still eat cheese almost every day, but I need to be careful because it's a calorie and fat bomb if you eat too much.

Mexican food. I already miss it because I'm a California girl living in Italy and we don' t have anything close to real mexican food. But I don' t even want to KNOW how many calories a carne asada buritto has.

Wine and other alcohol - again, still drink the stuff. But when I log my calories and realize how quickly it adds up I have to shudder.

BTW: Kristin550 -- Slurpees are sugar and ice. Are they really a calorie nightmare?

I can honestly say I don't miss anything, because I haven't given anything up.  Yes, I limit things like cooking with too much olive oil or butter, but I still eat those things.  Tonight my treat is a small brownie because my dinner was smaller than usual and I gave up my PM yogurt and fruit.

For a while I missed potato chips, but was able to limit those too, so I really can eat just one.

Of course, it's taken me 3 years to get to this very satisfactory point!

Chocolate covered Halva.

Chipotle burritos with chips n' guac.

Homemade brownies.

'Chinese' food.

Cold Stone ice cream.

It's hard to portion any of these foods for me. It's all or nothing. :(

So I stay away.

Yikes... I used to do this too.  I sometimes treat myself and let myself have 2 sour cream or chocolate timbits with my black tea if I stop at Timmie's... but even that happens fewer and further between. :)

I miss snacking while I watch tv... goldfish crackers were the weapon of choice.  A whole bag on my own... just under 1000 calories.

Cheeseburgers.

Being able to eat anything at restaurants.

Breakfast pastries.

Pepperoni pizza.

Mac and cheese.

Strawberry Frapps from Starbucks

Smores Poptarts

Loaded jumbalaya or beef stew, campbells chicken and dumpling soup

Moose Tracks ice cream

(sigh) I know I could eat these in moderation, but these foods are those ones that you'd have to have in such small servings that you couldn't help but eat more...than some more...than all of it.

I miss being a kid and eating whatever I please, lol.

eating endless amounts of pasta and ice cream!!!!!

hot cheetoes with nacho cheese sauce [high school delight...lol] and cheesecake!! yum yum yum. oh and apple pie, apple crisp, peach cobbler. mostly sweet things. =)
