Missed Nuva Ring birth control dose.
So I moved to Alaska from Canada for school. My parents usually send me my birth control every month from back home, because I do not have a prescription here. They forgot to send me my ring this month, and now I'm 4 days late to take it, and it'll be another one or two weeks until they can get it to me. I can't go to the clinic here because it is closed for the summer, and I can't get my prescription sent up here becaujse a Canadian prescription is no good here.
What is going to happen to my body/hormones? I've been on birth control for over a year, and never been late with a dose. Also, should I start using it as soon as I get it and stop at the normal time for my period, or start after my next period?
Likely you'll ovulate during this kind of missed month, but if you're like me your cycle shouldn't be too affected because it's just like you forgot to put a new one in.
If you want to start it once you get it you will have to use a barrier birth control back up for seven days until your protected. To still be protected on your next ring free week you need 21 days of hormones before hand.
Or you can wait until your next period, start it again and be protected right away and keep the same schedule you had.
Thanks. I talked to a registered nurse and she thinks it's safer for my body to wait out the month, and then go back on it after my period.
