Missed period and weight gain??
So I am a bit concerned right now.
1st off, I took a pregnancy test twice now..not pregnant, thank god.
I have been eating very well and exercising 5x/week for the past few months. I am trying to maintain my current weight of 133-134 (I am 5'8"). I am on birth control, and finish my placebo week today...no period. This has never happened to me before, what the heck is going on? I guess I am running a little more than usual, as I am training for a marathon, but that isn't until April and I haven't gone past 8 miles yet??? I have also been eating way enough calories at around 1800-2400/day. My stress levels have been normal, no more than usual I guess, maybe a little higher? Also, when i stepped on the scale this morning (which i haven't done in like 2-3 days, it read 137). That just can't be possible, and therefore has to be water weight/bloat from not having my period I'm assuming, right?
Sorry, I am kind of freaking out here, but has this happened to anybody before?? Help meee.
It's perfectly normal to miss your period one month. You might just be a bit late. :] Really, don't panic! And yes, that'd likely be water retention if you're due around now.
missing its normal even if your on the pill?
sorry, im just super worried! i've been on this pill for 8 years and have never missed my period, once. its like old faithful!
Hm. As far as I am aware it can still happen.
Do you get enough fats in your diet? What about your BF%? If your body fat or fat intake is very low it can lead to a missed or missing period.

That is true. We need a certain amount of fat to menstruate.
Some pregnancy tests aren't effective until a certain day after you would have gotten your period- did you check that?
As far as pregnancy, I took 2 tests, and both said after 3 days of missed period (its been 6), plus its almost impossible as my bf and I use condoms as well.
As far as fats, I would say my intake is probably fairly low of fats. I eat a pretty high carb/high fiber diet. Maybe I should try eating more fats...I dunno. I was so scared that I made an appointment with my general practitioner, so maybe she can help. ergg.
Also, recently I was diagnosed with having "1 allele positive" for a gene that is related to high levels of homocysteine. I couldn't find much information about it, or how it could POSSIBLY relate to amenorrhea. I dunno, I think I am just uber stressed. thanks cc-ers for your help and support, as always
Too few fats in your diet can result in a missed period. A normal range of fats in your diet would make up 25 to 30%. Too few and your period can stop. However, it is still normal to miss just the one period.
Hi sealion 111,
I must agree, If your body fat and fat intake gets too low you can miss a period. One of my friends was a soccer player, she was really tiny and didn't get her period for quite a few months. You do really need to speak with your primary care physician about this though, they can do some labwork to see if anything is going on. They will probably want to check your iron levels as well.
Thank you so much for all of yoru support. You guys really helped me calm me down, but I still made an appointment with my PCP for tonight, to talk about that genetic thing and also the period as a "sidenote". I'll let you all know how it goes!
I'm BC and miss it every once in awhile. I just take a pregnancy test to be sure, but I've never had a problem, and my doctor says all is well! so I guess it's rather normal.
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
