i did a diet which is called sacred heart diet but i ate other things like rice onday, milk and tortillas in between.(little cheating)
and now i hav missed my periods this monthmy periods are always regular and i had never ever missed it before. now ite being 20 days. do you think its because of the diet? or can this be because m stressed?
Could be either/both I'd say. I had the same problem last month (my first full month of dieting), so I'd be curious as to what others say about this. It's back in all its glory this month, though! hehe!
Yep, it could be both or either.
The Sacred Heart diet is the one with cabbage soup, right? Even if you were "cheating" on it, chances are, you weren't eating enough, be it calories or fat, which can cause you to miss your period. Stress can also cause the same, as can too much exercise.
i also think its both. but now i am more stressed because i didn't have it.
this is the 1st time i ever did a diet, and i am eating now to get the periods.i eat bread, buns, rice milk biscuits, fruits and veggies. do any one know anything else i can do except medication.
A diet doesn't mean you need to starve yourself. How old are you? How tall are you? What do you weigh?
Women need at least 1200 calories a day for basic bodily functions to work properly and men need at least 1500. If you're a teen, you should be getting at least 1800 calories.
day before yesterday 3000 cal and 2600 calories and today 1600 calories.
but i need to know any other ways to induce my period wothout thise hormone pills. m really concerned about it . i think ill go mad thinking about this if it didn't happen soon. so pls any exercise or any food which may be good?
regarding the original post - It could be malnutrition caused by following a bizarre fad diet.
Here's an informational thread from last year that covers fad diets of all kinds
http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/pag e/1/38562.html#last
From the American Heart Association:
Our nutrition experts recommend adopting healthy eating habits permanently, rather than impatiently pursuing crash diets in hopes of losing unwanted pounds in a few days.
Why does the AHA care about these diets?
We want to inform the public about misleading weight-loss claims. Many of these diets — like the infamous Cabbage Soup Diet — can undermine your health, cause physical discomfort (abdominal discomfort and flatulence [gas] ) and lead to disappointment when you regain weight soon after you lose it.
As for the "sacred heart diet", you need to read this
http://www.everydiet.org/diet/sacred-heart-di et
"This diet is not recommended
- The Sacred Heart Hospital in Montreal Canada (Hôpital Sacre Coeur) issued a press release in 2004 stating that "no nutritionist at the Hospital took part in the development of this diet" (ref - French).
- The American Heart Association have claimed that the diet is phony (ref).
- The Sacred Heart Medical Center also disclaim any association with the diet (ref)."
"Background of the Diet"
"The Sacred Heart diet is a soup-based diet, and claims that you will lose 10-17 pounds in the first week. This may be true, but most of the weight will tend to be water - and will be gained right back very soon after the diet.
This diet is very clearly an unsustainable fad diet, but is not as nutritionally unsound as similar diets. Most of these diets claim some magical fat-burning science is involved, or that there is something special about the combination of foods. This is simply untrue - it is nothing more complex than a reduction in calories!"

The best thing you can do for yourself is education about what constitutes a balanced diet. Read this
http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/article/nutr itionist_cc.html
Learn about using a food pyramid, building a balanced menu and providing your body the nutrients it needs. There's no need for gimmicks and strange eating plans. What you want to do is develop good habits that will last for a lifetime, not just for now. Imagine this - eat right, exercise, and never have to diet again - ever.

There is no magic food that will fix things. You need to use the tools here on CC to determine your caloric needs, read the Advice section to learn about healthy eating and exercise, and plan to lose no more than 1 to 2 pounds a week. Eventually, with good nutrition, your periods will resume. It can take months, so be patient.
thanx a lot for the advices. i'm definitley going to plane a balanced diet from tomorrow. I thought a diet once in a life time is not going to do me any harm.but now that it leads to this. I think I am never going to follow another dietplane in my life.
thanx for the links also.
You need to relax about it! And yes, read the stuff on this site and eat in a healthy and balanced way. I have also missed periods but I'm 48 and it's normal the Gyno said ,due to my age & I travel alot too.
