Missing Son, Prayers Please**-- BODY FOUND--**

EDIT: Chirs' body was found 19 months after he went missing. It is evident that he had gone for a drive that night and went off the road in the canyon.

I'm crying as I'm typing, so please overlook all typos...I'm really not all here.

Our son, who turned 18 last month, has been missing now for 76 hours. He went to work Monday, left work and no one has heard from him nor seen him since. He wasn't having any problems with us, Sunday we all were together and had a great time. He wasn't having any problems with his girlfriend. He did have a bad day at work and we are guessing he went off on a drive to cool down, but we really don't know. He didn't say anything to anybody about where he was going. He was in a hurry to get to work that day and left his wallet home. So he has no money on him nor any access to money. We were able to get into his bank account today and there hasn't been any unusual activity in the last month. We have called everyone he knows and no one knows anything. His girlfriend has called everyone she can think of too.

This is so out of character for him. He has never done anything like this before.

The police are involved and doing all they can. Two different aerial searches were done today and tomorrow there is a ground search going on with volunteers and the police department. He has been listed as a missing person in all 50 states along with a description of his blazer. The police department made up fliers for us to put around town. The top of it says "Missing Person, Suspicious Circumstances".

This is so unreal. This is something that happens on TV, not in real life. The roller coaster of emotions is beyond imagination. The possibilities of what has happened to him and where he might be are endless. To the East of us is a canyon, to the West is desert hills. He could be anywhere. Not knowing anything is the worst.

My husband and our other children are hitting their limits too. Our home is crazy is an understatement. We have had lots of friends and family offer love and support. Meals have been brought in for three days. Our phones are ringing off the hook with well wishers and everyone wondering what they can do.

I'm sorry for going on and on, I just want to cover all the bases, but I'm sure I've missed some things.

Prayers are definitely welcome.

Mostly I'm still in shock. I'm not sure I'll be back on the site for a while. I will post as soon as we know anything.

I tried something a little odd today.  I sent an email to John Kilduff.  He has a public access TV show that runs in the Los Angeles area, and it's the most off the wall thing you could possibly imagine.

Tons of people watch it, and he has quite the YouTube following.  I figured it wouldn't hurt to try to get Chris' missing poster shown on his show.  Perhaps there are others who read this thread that can get in contact with local public access TV shows and request a moment of their air time to show the poster.

I heard about your show on KROQ one morning when I was cruisin' down the 405.  It's so hilarious.  I hope you have the means to keep it going.  It's destined to become a cult classic. 

I do have a heartfelt request, and you have no obligation to oblige me.  A friend of mine is missing.  His name is Christopher Robin Coan.  We are trying to do everything we possibly can to find him.  He's only 18 years old, and he's been gone since September 3rd.  It's been really daunting attracting media attention.  If you are at all able to post his missing poster up on your show for a minute or two, I would be incredibly appreciative.  It really would mean so much to all of us.  Your YouTube postings are so popular, and I can only imagine how many lucky people get to actually watch the broadcasts live.  At this point, we're looking for all the help we can get.  He went missing from the little town of Enoch, Utah - but he has some ties in Orange County.  I was going to attach a pdf of his missing poster, but since you don't know me personally - it would probably be best that I don't send an attachment.  You can read about Chris, and download a high quality pdf of his poster here:  www.findchris.org

Lots of great ideas..

How about a billboard or two put up in your area with his picture and the website on them??  Don't know how you would do that or if you could but that might be good too.  And local cable television.. We have one that runs like classified adds and stuff if you have one you could contact them and get the info on there too.  And  I totally agree that you should go national at this point.. using YOUR version of the story.  Contact CNN on your own for coverage... or some other national news like Foxnews channel... I am sure they would be interested in your story and you could call them yourself I would think.  And that would be all the more publicity.

Shannon, I had a thought... Have you had the utah police put out a notice to all the police departments in the united states to be on the look out for the vehicle?  I would definatly look into this idea, you never know who will be looking out for that.  And make sure they are doing it on a daily basis till he is found. 

Also what about Megans law altert, have you checked into that?  You could have them post on those highway boards that ask the people to look out for this missing child/ vehicle?  Not sure if you have done it or not,l I have not read all of the posts.  That is what I would do.

 

another idea. printing out pamplets to hand out at churches.

contact your church and have them make some calls. mail the packages. they can hand them out with the little program they give or add it to the sermon.

and not just your church..all churches that you can.

i know the presby would do that i used to go to. there would be a summation at the end and the pastor would go over news and what not.

Thank you all for your many wonderful ideas! I know our police chief called AMW and we didn't qualify, I think it is because we don't have a specific search location, but I could be wrong, I'll ask him again.

Thank you for the link to the "When Your Child Goes Missing" book. It was helpful. It's nice to know I'm not alone, but it's sad to think of how many others are suffering through this too. I marked the book in my favorites so my husband can read through it too.

Dave and I had a meeting last night with a few close friends that are helping with the search. We were going over what we all need to do next and how we want the search to continue. It is so hard when we don't even have a clue as to what happened. Some of our strongest leads aren't as strong as we had hoped, and finding a new direction is just guess work.

We are waiting on "My Space" to give us access to Chris' account so we can see his personal stuff, we are hoping that will help. The police had to request access letting them know he is a missing person, so hopefully we will get that soon. We are also waiting on Qwest to get us the phone records from Subway the night Chris went missing. Chris was on the phone and we are hoping to find out who it was and if they know anything. It's so hard waiting for these things. We are really hopeful that they will give us some new strong leads.

My heart is breaking for you. I know this isn't productive, but it's making me mad that you actually have to wait to get access to his MySpace and the phone records. This is not difficult stuff!! Keep at them until they do that. I mean especially MySpace. It's not like it's a matter of legal privacy here.

Shannon... how awful to have to wait on things that could be so helpful!!!!!  It aggrevates me and I can't imagine how much worse  for you!!!  I will be praying that all this is available ASAP and the door to be open in both of these areas and that it would give some good info to help in the search and finally put an end to all this torment and bring your son home!!

I don't understand why you wouldn't qualify! There was a 23 yr old girl that went missing about a year or more ago and she didn't even live with her parents or anything and they also had very few leads and she got on AMW!! I would do a double check as to exactly WHY you didn't qualify! I'm so so sorry you are having to go through this horrific tragedy. I sincerely hope your son is found soon! I'm sure when you get into his myspace you will find valuable clues!! I will keep praying for you!
