I'm crying as I'm typing, so please overlook all typos...I'm really not all here.

Our son, who turned 18 last month, has been missing now for 76 hours. He went to work Monday, left work and no one has heard from him nor seen him since. He wasn't having any problems with us, Sunday we all were together and had a great time. He wasn't having any problems with his girlfriend. He did have a bad day at work and we are guessing he went off on a drive too cool down, but we really don't know. He didn't say anything to anybody about where he was going. He was in a hurry to get to work that day and left his wallet home. So he has no money on him nor any access to money. We were able to get into his bank account today and there hasn't been any unusual activity in the last month. We have called everyone he knows and no one knows anything. His girlfriend has called everyone she can think of too.

This is so out of character for him. He has never done anything like this before.

The police are involved and doing all they can. Two different aerial searches were done today and tomorrow there is a ground search going on with volunteers and the police department. He has been listed as a missing person in all 50 states along with a description of his blazer. The police department made up fliers for us to put around town. The top of it says "Missing Person, Suspicious Circumstances".

This is so unreal. This is something that happens on TV, not in real life. The roller coaster of emotions is beyond imagination. The possibilities of what has happened to him and where he might be are endless. To the East of us is a canyon, to the West is desert hills. He could be anywhere. Not knowing anything is the worst.

My husband and our other children are hitting their limits too. Our home is crazy is an understatement. We have had lots of friends and family offer love and support. Meals have been brought in for three days. Our phones are ringing off the hook with well wishers and everyone wondering what they can do.

I'm sorry for going on and on, I just want to cover all the bases, but I'm sure I've missed some things.

Prayers are definitely welcome.

Mostly I'm still in shock. I'm not sure I'll be back on the site for a while. I will post as soon as we know anything.

In this article they mentioned a restaurant employee in Navajo Nation (Four Corners area) seeing someone similar to Christopher:

"A few of the restaurant employees said they saw a young man that looked similar to the picture of Chris Coan on a missing person flier.

The young man entered the restaurant with three other young men around the same age with an older man who bought the group breakfast with a credit card, Dave Coan said.

However, the group's suspicious behavior is what alerted a few of the restaurant's employees, he said.

"No one in the group said a word throughout the entire breakfast," he said. "They thought that was suspicious, and it goes along with the idea of a possible abduction."

Because the incident took place on Navajo Nation, it has been difficult to get officials to cooperate, Dave Coan said."

I wonder if they were able to track down who the credit card belonged to and if any other helpful information has come out of the Four Corners area.

Please know that I am not a heartless person in the least.....but, I heard that this is COMPLETELY fake.  I heard that the 'boy' in question actually posted this all over the internet himself.  I am merely relaying what I read a while back (not from this website).  Sorry.  If that is in fact true, that is a pretty sick thing to do.

Please share the site that you read that on.  And if you don't mind me asking, if you read it "a while back", what prompted you to just NOW bring it up?

Edited to add: I think it would only add to Shannon's VERY REAL hurt to know that someone, no matter how harmless they claim their intentions to be, is suggesting that this hardship is FAKE.

Hey guys.  I received this in an e-mail form from a girlfriend of mine.  She forwarded it to us here at work, and one of the ladies in another office had stated this 'finding' and had a pasted website link.  I don't have that e-mail any longer. I think I saw that sometime in October?  As for my not mentioning this until just now, I haven't seen this thread prior to today, so I didn't know it existed.  I visit the Lounge occassionally, but regularly tend to only visit the weight loss forum and exercise forum.  I'll work on finding out from that lady that sent ME the link in an e-mail, so I can advise further. 

I just wanted to add that I am not asserting that this is not 'real'.  I'm merely relaying what was pointed-out to me.  And even then, it's not as though I believe what that 'correction' read.  Not sure why or what motives someone would have for falsifying such a thing in the first place.  I feel horribly if this poor woman is going through this.

That link does show a fake missing boy.  It came out around mid-August I believe.  You're right, the boy in that case did send it out himself. 

This is not the same thing, not about the same kid and not a fake.

I can understand your suspicion because of the strange number of missing children hoaxes (especially via emails) but this tragically is very real.  Shannon, much comfort being sent your way and hope for your reunion with Chris.

I didn't realize that it had been so long since I posted last. I'm sorry. This season is really hard. I have cried more in the past two weeks then I have for a long time. I tried to go Christmas shopping last Saturday and just bawled everywhere I went. I did buy stuff for Chris, it's too weird not to. If for some reason he is home before Christmas he will have presents to open. And if he's not, well then we will hold on to them until he comes home.

Townes, I'm not offended by your questioning the validity of this thread and everything else about Chris. I wish it were a hoax, but it isn't. It is my real life. Please check out my profile and my pictures. Send me a private message if you want to ask questions you don't want everyone to read. And sincerely, thank you for letting me know what is going on out there with Chris' story. It is good for us to keep up on what is being said and done and it is too hard to do it alone.

The Navajo Nation wont even give us the time of day let alone run the guys credit card. When Dave has called them they have hung up on him, and he was being nice. It wasn't like he was yelling or being rude. We stopped there on our Thanksgiving trip, and they wouldn't even look at us. The gal on the other side of the window in the police station was so bothered that we were there and told us there wasn't anything she could do for us. She wasn't pleasant or concerned or even a bit compassionate. Honestly she was rude to us. The only authority over the Navajo Nation is the FBI and so we called them to see if they could get the Navajo Nation to run the credit card. It's not like I want to know who it belongs to and where he lives, I just want someone else to know that this man, for a fact, is not involved in Chris' disappearance or anyone else’s. The FBI will not get involved because Chris is 18 and therefore has the right to be out on his own without telling anyone where he is.

On a happier note, yesterday Wal-Mart gave the police permission to view the tapes!!! We are hopeful.

We have decided to take a trip with our other children for Christmas. I told Dave that I didn't want to sit home and stare at an empty Christmas stocking all day. The little kids asked how Santa would find us. I told them he would. We invited Sasha, Chris' girlfriend, to come along, but she felt better staying here.

Sasha came over last night. It was so good to see her. She has tried to stop by a few times and we weren't home, so I'm glad she caught us. She said someone is England emailed her or went through her my space page or somehow contacted her and said that I didn't like her. That I had posted online that I didn't care for her. She said she went on line and looked for my name and couldn't ever see anything. She thought it was odd that a complete stranger would contact her to let her know that. I'm glad that she knows us somewhat well enough that she didn't just fall for that. It's crazy what people are doing and saying to us sometimes.

I know there is more to say, but my brain has turned off for the night. I'll get back soon though.
