Our wonderful leader Zarelha started one of the greatest motivators ever here on C-C: a mission to run around the world, one run, one runner at a time! All running mileage is acceptable (no ellipticals or swimming) and anyone is welcome to join at any time!
Some info about us:
We started the run at the Southernmost tip of South America, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. We will end the run in Capetown, South Africa, at the ocean. The total mileage needed to finish is 23,854 miles.
Start date of the run: August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight.
Weeks start on Wednesday and end on Tuesday. Runners who have had no movement in a full month were put on Hiatus, however, we want you back! Post more mileage at any time!
Our Tally Team will each take one week to be responsible for tallying up that week's mileage. Post here or PM the RATW user profile if you have any questions or concerns.

Welcome, entj and drop-it-like-its-hot!! Our weeks run from Wednesday to Tuesday, and you can submit miles either after every run, or once a week (by Tuesday night if possible). I'm excited about all of the new people who have expressed an interest in joining us.
Minie13, you rock, especially with the miles you have been logging in lately. Please make sure you take care of yourself.
I have another 5 miles to add today, after the Shamrock Shuffle 8K race in Chicago. It wasn't my greatest performance--I tripped and landed on the ground before the end of mile 1 (scraped my knee pretty badly), and my right calf tightened up during miles 2 and 3, slowing my pace during that portion of the race. Nevertheless, I finished with a distance PR of 34:40 (old PR was 35:20 last November). I placed 925th out of 22558 finishers overall, 801st out of 10383 males, and 131st out of 1731 males ages 35-39.
I plan to end my calendar week with another race, the Chicago Lakefront 50K. It will be totally different, not only in terms of distance, but also with regards to number of competitors (somewhere around 150 racers for this one, compared to 22000+ in today's race).

Yesterday's ING Georgia half marathon was fabulous! It was one of the best runs I've ever had, let alone races! I didn't break any speed records but I felt great. Came in at 2:12 but that includes a 4 minute porta-potty break. With 15,000 runners there were lines at every single porta-potty, and I just had to bite the bullet and wait. So I would estimate that actual running time was more like 2:08. Also it was freezing out, I almost froze to death before and after the race. Miles 7-10 were especially good, I had high energy and totally zipped along. Overall I am well pleased with the run and I'm feeling great today.

hey everyone...i just joined. i don't have any more miles to add (did the elliptical at the gym yesterday haha) but i just wanted to say hi and tell you all that you totally inspire me!! looking at your numbers - minie, wrm, jenka, etc - it's awesome!! the longest i've ever run is about 6.5 miles. i would love to change that soon! seeing your numbers make me want to run longer....so thank you! :)

Feeling like I'm finally getting over my flu and picking up the pace a bit. The state swim meet is over now, so it's on to prepping for my Memorial day 10K and bike race in earnest now.

Total for the week of March 26 - April 1 = 18.4 miles.
Blizzard conditions today and forcasted for tomorrow, so I'm just gonna take those two days off and rest.
I'll be out of town for the National Guard, going to Ohio, for training from April 4-April 19. My running may be limited and so may my internet access. So I may post a two week total around the 19th of April.

jenka - great job with your half - what a great time! I'm hoping to finish in under 2:45:00 for my first half marathon at the end of this month. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do that given my training so far. You all help inspire me to keep on reaching for those goals.

Someone tell me that its ridiculous that I can run 13 miles on a treadmill but am scared to run 3 outside....
skinny_kitty You know you won't be last! You'll do great. Its your first half so as long as you finish it a PR for a race day finish and a great accomplishment. My half in September will be my first and that's my outlook on it.

last week i ran my first 10k and did another 4 miles before that. this week I hope to run 7 miles to just taper a bit. i am training for another 10 miler later this year (may) so im a bit nervous. and i want to run a half in sept as well!
minie - if you can do 13 mi on a treadmill then 3 outside will be no problem. How can you stand to run on a treadmill for so long??
Do any of you use mapmyrun.com to figure out distances or places to run? I was using the gmaps pedometer, but my husband just showed me mapmyrun and I'll never go back. Its SOOO much better. :)
Melxcloud I used mapmyrun to figure out my run for today actually! My calves & pavement don't really like eachother so thats why I'm nervous. They tend to cramp up quickly, especially when i first start out after not running on pavement for a while....we shall see how it goes.
And yes, 13 miles on a treadmill can be very cumbersome. The Food Network seems to be the only thing that makes the time go quicker....i put on my ipod and get a treadmill in front of the tv tuned to the Food Network and go...i can;t wait to be doing it outside though.
minie, I don't know if you are in the city or the backroads, but I run on the backroads. If my feet start to hurt i just move into the gravely/sandy part of the road and that seems to help tremendously.
