Our wonderful leader Zarelha started one of the greatest motivators ever here on C-C: a mission to run around the world, one run, one runner at a time! All running mileage is acceptable (no ellipticals or swimming) and anyone is welcome to join at any time!
Some info about us:
We started the run at the Southernmost tip of South America, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. We will end the run in Capetown, South Africa, at the ocean. The total mileage needed to finish is 23,854 miles.
Start date of the run: August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight.
Weeks start on Wednesday and end on Tuesday. Runners who have had no movement in a full month were put on Hiatus, however, we want you back! Post more mileage at any time!
Our Tally Team will each take one week to be responsible for tallying up that week's mileage. Post here or PM the RATW user profile if you have any questions or concerns.

skinny_kitty: Yep--my running miles are starting to suffer too as the biking season gets going (check out yesterday's bike/ski duathlon). So much training, so little time. The FP60's are about 2/3rds the cost of the Zipp 404s, but I get them pretty much wholesale from one of the sponsors of my triathlon team (in exchange for buying the team jersey with the ads on it and wearing it at my events). That brings it down another 30% or so. Still...it's the most expensive part of the bike besides the frame. The shoes are Sidi T-2...love the Sidis! Picking up the bike tomorrow--yes, it's red & white....would look good with a Canadian flag jersey too, eh?
Glad you're bouncing back after your test minie13. Hope you feel well enough for the race this weekend. Bummer about the hotel fitness centers primadonna--gotta get your employer to upgrade your accomodations!

I did 3 miles of fartleks (+warm up, +cool down) yesterday.
jfk, that bike/ride thing looks like fun, but I'm concerned about the weather? I mean, in order for it to be ideal for one, it's kinda cold or hot for the other? Great time, though. Just wait until you get the P2C and it just sucks you forward! And kudos for figuring out how to get the red/white (canadian! and not by accident, I'd bet) frame with the Ultegra outfit -- this year's Ultegra model was pretty ugly and apparently the fork wasn't nearly as good as what was with the Dura Ace model.
You'll have to come race up here! Penticton, maybe? Eh, maybe I'll see you there...?
Jenka, I had a surprise party waiting for me when I came back from my run. It was really nice -- my husband did an amazing job.
Can I do this too? I walk about 2 miles a day :D Let me know please.
Go_girl_1994, we would be glad to count your mileage. Since our goal is to Run Around the World, we ask that your miles be part of a running program (a run/walk program will work just fine). If you're not running much at this point, I recommend starting a program like the Couch to 5K program, where you can build up your endurance by alternating running with walk intervals over a couple of months, until you can run 3 miles without stopping.

Please add 5.25 miles for me today--all speed work. Gotta get ready for the Memorial day 10K, then 3 sprint triathlons in 3 weeks right after. Hooray for springtime!
skinny_kitty: I'm glad you alerted me to this. I called to double check, and there was a problem....There was apparently a guy who wanted the Ultegra frame with the Dura grouppo, but something went wrong in the switcheroo, and they were just figuring I didn't care about the color and were building on the wrong frame! Got them straightened out now. Whew! That would have been disappointing.
Dunno about Penticton this year (just 2 weeks after my half!), but maybe next year---my coach has gotten me very interested in being an escort for blind athletes at Kona (I have a very good tandem, you see!). Of course, I'd have to know what I could finish in. We will be up in B.C. (Vancouver/Victoria) in July on a tandem cycle vacation if you are in the area.
I'm probably going to take care of my weekend long run today, so I'll post again later.
EDIT: Took care of my long run today, since I doubt that I'll get it in tomorrow, and I'm tired of getting them in on Mondays when I'm scheduled to do a speed workout the next day. Another 16.6 miles for me today.
EDIT #2: Placement results are in, and I placed 45th out of 1057 overall. In my age group (M35-39), I actually finished 5th of of 91, but since the 1st and 2nd place finishers overall were in my group, they were removed (for award purposes), which moved me up to 3rd.
2.5 miles for me yesterday - did some speedwork with interval training. Will work on getting an easy long run in tomorrow. Took things a little easier this week after the half to allow for recovery time since I've just been running over a year. Trying to train sensibly so I can keep running for a long, long time. Next week, I'll start working into the marathon training.

Obviously I have decided not to run in the 10 miler tomorrow since I ran 10 miles today and didn't even go pick up my packet. I think I tlaked myself out of it last week as soon as I found out I was having the testing done. And I'm not even upset a little bit about it : )

Broad Street today! Man, I felt like crap the entire time. I just couldn't get my breathing right. All in all, I did fine, so I'm trying to not be too hard on myself. It's just a big bummer to fall back as far as I did compared to last year and last week's awesome 5 miler. As I took periodic walk breaks, I kept hearing everyone on the boards who over the past few weeks have been saying, "Listen to your body!" So I did. I still finished with a strong sprint (yay!), but from about the mile 3 marker to the mile 9 marker, I just felt really off. My superstitious self blames it on the bib number (mentally, I prefer bib numbers that have some sort of mathematical relationship -- don't ask. It's weird, I know.). Ok, ok, enough. I still ran the 10 miles in 1:39:17 (chip time) and finished 11386 overall (out of 19,111), 4383 out of 9290 women. While I'm not too happy with it, I know it's a great job -- blah blah.
SO ANYWAY, 10.1 miles for me with the warm-up/sprint to find my gear bus. Now I focus on the Fall Half-Mary's!!!
primadonna, you did great! You finished comfortably in the upper half of women, didn't you? You were better than a 10:00 pace, which is great for a half-mary, if you ask me, and this was very nearly a half mary.
