We're on a mission to Run Around the World!

Our wonderful leader Zarelha started one of the greatest motivators ever here on C-C: a mission to run around the world, one run, one runner at a time! All running mileage is acceptable (no ellipticals or swimming) and anyone is welcome to join at any time!

Some info about us:

We started the run at the Southernmost tip of South America, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. We will end the run in Capetown, South Africa, at the ocean. The total mileage needed to finish is 23,854 miles.

Start date of the run: August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight.

Weeks start on Wednesday and end on Tuesday. Runners who have had no movement in a full month were put on Hiatus, however, we want you back! Post more mileage at any time!

Our Tally Team will each take one week to be responsible for tallying up that week's mileage. Post here or PM the RATW user profile if you have any questions or concerns.

Okay, folks, our June challenge is almost over!  Hit the pavement!

Right now, I'm at 96.10 miles.  I'm about to head to the gym to knock out those last 3.9 miles!

Hi again. After slacking off on Sunday, making up those missed miles on Monday, and rearranging my workouts this week to give my legs sufficient recovery time for a speed workout, I finally got in that first speed workout since my last marathon training cycle. Today's run (9.2 miles) included 4 miles at lactate threshold pace (pace I should be able to maintain if I raced all-out for an hour, or approximately a 15K race pace). McMillan's tables project that based on my marathon time last month that my 15K pace should be 7:15/mile; likewise, according to Daniels, my 15K pace (again based on marathon time, not on my goal time) in 7:20/mile.

So I was pleased that even with the humidity out there today, that I averaged 7:12/mile, with splits (at every mile) of 7:20, 7:19. 7:12, and 6:59. I'd love to see those split times once the cooler weather and lower humidity returns!

That's awesome, Wrm!  Really fast, despite humidity!  Humidity is the worst. 

I'm back from the gym (escaping the humidity, myself) and am proud to say that I did it!  100 miles for June!  YAAY! 

I'm leaving tonight for LA and won't be back until next Wed.  All you folks working on your June Challenges, keep at it!  You have until Monday!  Report your totals next week and I'll post 'em when I get back from my trip.

So I'll report my mileage right now because I'm not even bringing my running shoes with me at ALL!  Have a nice weekend everyone!

That makes 10 total.

3.0 nice and easy miles today.  That makes my June total 46.9, just one little 5K short  of the goal!

14.5 miles for me for yesterday.  7.5 of them in the heat and humidity at the local park, then I couldn't stand it anymore and drove over to the gym to run the other 7.  I kept hoping it would rain on me while I was running - but no luck.  While on the treadmill, I kept looking for the rain to start.  If it had, I would have jumped off the treadmill and run out into the parking lot for a good drenching.  No such luck.  Rain held off until I was trapped in the warehouse for work this evening.  Should be cooler at least when I head out in a few minutes.  :-)

Will finish out with regular mileage for the June challenge, then cut my mileage in half for the next week to allow my body a rest before I begin the next ramp up in training.

5 miles this morning.

And 73.3 so far for june. 1 day left and I don't know what I'm doing yet tomorrow. I wanted to do a 24.5 mile bike ride on my bike I bought yesterday, I also want to go to circuits, I've been invited rowing and I want to do by last 6.7 miles but I can only really feasibly do 2 of these!

yeah!! there it is 4.75 today so that is 42.87 for the june challenge and i think 502.07 miles finally past 500 cool!! are we doing a july challenge????

June Challenge:  10.7 this week ( PR - 10K 56:10 today! ... Course was tough "Run For The Hills" was name of race with rolling hills and 1 monster hill at 3 mile mark). 

Total: 61.2 Miles ( I am done for june as will rest my bum knee tommorow after the 10K.

Please add 3.1 for today, which makes my June challenge 50.0, just as promised :-)

Finally, finally, finally beat my 5K PR from January at 25:20!

Wrm - I can't imagine going that fast for one mile - even in perfect weather!  Way to go!

kscout - how funny that you actually drove to the gym to finish your run!  I can certainly empathize.  I waited all day for the rain so I could do my run in less oppressive weather.  Unfortunately, it ended up only being a brief drizzle and stopped completely my the 2nd mile.  So frickin-humid!!

Anyway, please add 3 miles for me for Friday and 5 for today.

Oh, and I was wrong in my last post about it being pain-free.  I think I'm just so used to it that I don't even pay attention to it.  My groin/hip hurts all the time (except for when I'm sitting).  But, I'm sure you all understand that swimming or bicycling (as some people have suggested as an alternative) just doesn't cut it.  We're runners.  Plain and simple.

The long awaited update from the last running week has been completed.  My apologies for the delay.  Everyone is posting some GREAT numbers.

I did a 13-hour orienteering multisport adventure night-race in the weekend and I have no idea how many miles I coverend on foot (I guess it was something around 20 miles, some of it running, most of it crawling in the woods in addition to 40 miles of cycling). I can only be sure that it all started with a ~6.21 mile run, so please add these 6.21 miles from me.

Bummer....

I didn't want to run too far today especially not late in the day because I've been planning on doing a half tomorrow morning and wanted enough time to rest but I did want to finish my 80 miles for June so I didn't really know what to do. Running 4 miles to the gym for lunchtime circuits then 4 miles home would have been ok because it would have been early in the day and enough time to rest until tomorrow's half but my boyfriend insisted I went to evening circuits with him after work so I did a bike ride in the morning and resigned myself to only running 4 miles to the gym and getting a lift home after and not completing my June challenge and because I was going to circuits and not running that far I didn't wear my proper running shoes. So, get to the gym and he'd forgotten stuff he needed for circuits so I ran home instead and my feet, ankles, knees and hips were hurting in the horrid old shoes and I wasn't happy (he bought me an icecream sundae to make up) and I kept stopping and walking cos I really didn't want to kill my legs before tomorrow. The 6.5 is only what I ran. With the walking too it was over 8 miles but I'm only counting running but if my calculations serve me correctly that makes me short for June challenge! :(
