OK, CC-ers!  Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is ... To help the newly-created CC World Runners Club run around the world!

Every day that you run, whether it's 1 mile on the treadmill or the Boston Marathon, report in via a PM or a post (but not both!!!!).  If you count it as a run, so do we, but try not to include straight walking warmups/cooldowns (jogging counts, though). 

You may send your miles (or kilometers) in daily or weekly.  Updates will be done weekly as of Tuesday 11:59 PM.  Miles will be added up from Wednesday through Tuesday for our weekly totals. 

YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE MILES AT ANY TIME!  Even if you only contribute one mile, once, we'll still welcome it, so don't be shy!  As long as it's run during the week we are working on, it counts.

We will start the run at the Southernmost tip of South America, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.  We will end the run in Capetown, South Africa, at the ocean. 

Start date of the run:  August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight. 

Let's see how fast we can do this!!!  Please post here if you want to join and contribute your mileage!  We welcome any help we can get!

Our next challenge:  - Getting from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, through Peru and to Ecuador, then to Colombia

My BF and I both ran 2.2Miles last night.  Not sure if you want to include him.. He doesn't have an account.. or add him to mine.

I'll be taking the rest of the week of most likely.. Running on my ankle last night was tourture.  Best to let it heal a bit more I think.

Got a meet in a week, but despite the shakey knees (nerves!) I managed to run 8 k today.

August 1st I did 2k, but haven't had a chance to post.

I haven't posted yet, but I will try to keep up to date!

I just did 3.1 miles today.
WE MET OUR FIRST CHALLENGE!  We ran right through Tolhuin, Argentina (164 miles) in less than 4 days!  Now we're on to Punta Arenas, Chile (292 miles)- the "Southernmost City in the Americas" (a "real" city, as opposed to Ushuaia, which also claims that title). 

We're going so fast, I have not had time to update the website yet, but give me a day or so!

I almost killed myself today trying to run 5 miles at noon on the hottest day of the year (one degree shy of setting a heat record).  Yeah, I know - stupid.  I still got 2 miles in before almost falling out with heat exhaustion - DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME!  In fact, please do not hurt yourselves in any way or push too hard too soon!  No injuries allowed!

Today I got about 3.2 miles in so chalk me down for that! 

I had to take breaks a few times during the run as I kept feeling sick,  it was probably because it was so hot and muggy out today.  I can't wait for some cooler weather.
Please put down another 3.75 miles for me.

Hehe, training cut short today.

2.3 Miles before extreme pain in the ankles. Probably a start of stress fracture because of training to much. I will take 1 day off so no miles for me tomorow.

And dont be jealous, we had rain here for all of July.... finally the sun arrives lol.

Congrats everyone on the running, impressive to see so many people dedicated.


Since August 1st, I've ran 28 miles.
Hey there - did my second 5K race this morning. (yay!)  So, put me down for 3.1 miles please.

zarelha, you weren't the only crazy person out there at noon yesterday.  :)  I did 3.5 starting around 11:30, and it was less than pleasant to say the least.  Temp was only 89 at the time, but humidity was over 55% and there was zero wind (according to yesterday's report on weather.com).  Yuck.  Had to cut a full 2 minutes off my normal mile time for each mile just to keep from stopping.  This morning was significantly better!  

8.5 more miles for me between yesterday and today.
i'd love to join, but i havent gone to the gym yet today. i will try to post my miles later today.

In response to the new comments in the original post - we can make it across the Straits of Magellan.  According to Wikipedia, at its narrowist, it's only 2.5 miles wide.  While that would still be a challenge for me to swim, it's certainly more achievable than 17!

Maybe, we can open this up to swimmers for the few times our route will have to cross water?  Would that be too complicated?  Just an idea...
I was thinking of doing a "swim across the Atlantic" when we got to that point ... but I don't swim ... so if there's a swimmer out there who wants to tie in to our "necessary" swims, that would be great!

The reason I went across the Straits at a wider area is because it gets us directly to the only city in that area without backtracking - Punta Arenas, fairly well-known and with information on the web! :)
