Every day that you run, whether it's 1 mile on the treadmill or the Boston Marathon, report in via a PM or a post (but not both!!!!). If you count it as a run, so do we, but try not to include straight walking warmups/cooldowns (jogging counts, though).
You may send your miles (or kilometers) in daily or weekly. Updates will be done weekly as of Tuesday 11:59 PM. Miles will be added up from Wednesday through Tuesday for our weekly totals.
YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE MILES AT ANY TIME! Even if you only contribute one mile, once, we'll still welcome it, so don't be shy! As long as it's run during the week we are working on, it counts.

We will start the run at the Southernmost tip of South America, in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. We will end the run in Capetown, South Africa, at the ocean.
Start date of the run: August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight.

Jenka - I totally love keeping a running log!! I'm with you on the spiral notebook. I usually write down stuff related to the run, how it felt, if I made good time etc. etc. It's amazing to go back and read earlier entries to see how far I've come :)

Hey everyone! So much to catch up on! Congrats to energygirl on the PR! Jfk61, I LOVE the new picture. Very model-chic.
Also thanks for the info on what to eat pre- and post-run. Wrm2105, thanks for the website but I had difficulty accessing it -- is there another way to get to it? It will be very helpful because I'm awful at figuring out what I should be running at longer distances. When is your ultra? Spacedreamer01, I'm so jealous of the new treadmills with fans! I have to open a window in our fitness room and hope for the best. Also, nice job to you and jenka signing up for half-marys! This thread is totally motivating me to try to find something before the November one that I will be doing. Jenka, jfk61, and fitnessfreak, I also love the spiralbounds -- I think I am following in your footsteps and posting only weekly mileage from now on. This should motivate me to buy a new spiralbound as my last one filled up. I'm too lazy, the activity log here has been an easy excuse not to, but NO LONGER!
to all regarding mileage: The thread says that zarelha last updated the info on Jan. 8th. So I think we should just figure out totals from there. I think it might be smarter to post on the thread in one message since we don't know when Z will be back to check the calorie count website, let alone the thread. According to her profile, she hasn't logged into CC since Jan. 22nd, so she hasn't read any of the PMs or posts. I think it might be smarter to try to keep the mileage as public as possible -- this way, as skinny_kitty, pointed out, if we can figure out how to edit Z's original post (if we don't hear from her), we can take over adding the info ourselves. I'm not sure how to figure out the country-hopping, but hopefully, we'll hear back from her. I'm going to send her an email to the address listed on her profile and see if I hear back. I'll let everyone know.

But wait--then there's trying to run on sheets of ice. It's almost impossible at times to push off the ground when you're slip-sliding away. I can't wait for spring to arrive!!!
Hey, primadonna98, I'm guessing that you're referring to the McMillan Running Calculator. I checked the link, and it appears that the problem might be the addition of ) at the end. Try the following link and see if it works:

My ultra (50K) is April 5, eight weeks from today. I'm hoping to get five long runs of at least 20 miles between now and race day (six if I make my scheduled 18 mile run for next Sunday a 20 miler).
3.3 miles on Wednesday (treadmill)
3.5 miles on Friday

I think the tallying is a great idea and thanks for figuring out the last update. When I get a chance I'll tally up and post.
For now, I'm logging on the 6.8 miles ran today.
I just joined CC and would love to be included in this also. I ran 15.5 miles today. I'm training for The AROUND THE BAY 30km in Hamilton Onartio Canada.
Please add 9.6 miles for me today (a new distance PR!).

Yikes, skinny_kitty, when you said, "PM" I wrongly assumed you meant CC PM... now I'm doubly concerned.
And, no, still nothing on this end.
Which makes me wonder how we would go about figuring how to change/update the information...
Primadonna and skinny_kitty - maybe we should just let the moderators know we are concerned, and also ask if there is a way we can update the original post?

I know for a fact that no one but the original poster can alter the original post. If we decide that we need to take over the tallying, we will most likely have to start a new thread. I bet we could get the moderator to move this thread into a new one. Someone would have to take the responsibility to be the thread owner, though.
Once that's done, I would suggest that at least two people should be responsible for the daily tallies. It's a big job.
I really hope Z's okay. At this point I'm just worried about her.
jenka, primadonna, (just brainstorming here,) what would you think of maybe creating a google spreadsheet to do the calculations, and opening it up to allow any of the regulars here to update it? It seems like a nasty limitation that there has to be a single owner--we may be able to embed the mileage summary as an html reference to the external spreadsheet. I've done similar things before--I could prototype it if you all think it is a possibility.
I also have my own domain where I can deploy applications, but there are probably others that already work and would fit the bill that you folks might know about.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
