"It was a mistake. I screwed up."
I agree! It is refreshing.
Yes. I was also gratified to see that not only did he admit the mistake, but he told everybody he could think of. All the anchors of the major news outlets got interviews.
Pres. Obama is going to make the term 'limited media access' obsolete.
It must be pretty damn hard to find good help in Washington.
Also the casual interviews with the network anchors instead of sound bites from a press secretary was a nice touch.
Edit: or what Kathy said.
It's kind of too bad, all things considered. Daschle would probably have done a good job, I think. The re-invention of American healthcare will take a lot of co-operation from Big Insurance & Big Drugs.
i gotta admit, makes me wonder how many other congress people are not paying their taxes....anyhoo...really glad to see obama has put a cap on executive pay for those banks receiving bailout money. About time somebody did something about those guys...

agree and agree
Fabulous. If only owning up to one's mistakes became the rule, and not the exception! Accountability rocks.
Oh man. So stoked to have an awesome not-retarded president for once. I just can't get over it.
Totally accountable. <3 It's nice to hear someone fess up to their good and bad choices. A refreshing contrast to the last eight years starting early.
Cap on executive pay in companies asking for government bailout...
Uhhh...why didn't the last administration think to add this little caveate???
Talk about closing the barn door after all the crooks have stolen the horses.
No...this isnt good...
He DIDNT make a mistake. Instead, the media blew the tax thing up (most people have no idea what it was other than "taxes"...they dont know the actual sittuation...the guy wasnt avoiding taxes...other then the statute of limitations on some that he didnt have to pay ...which he still did after getting contacted by the administration!)
So, Obama didnt want to get any flack so just backed down to try and defuse it.
He didnt make a mistake. He didnt think he made a mistake....he is just feeding people what they want to hear because people are stupid and will buy it / like him more for it.
Its sad when politics and such important issues are swaded so much by idiot people who get upset over gossip....and even more sad that politicians need to cater to these people in order to stay in power.....
I think maybe you're confusing Daschle with Geithner, lorik?
Edited post because I'm still feeling too warm-fuzzy to be snarky today. :)

Thats very possible! I havent been following politics lately :D I thought we were still talking about tax guy? I heard something last night about him stepping down from all the hoopla.
I also heard that there was the potential for a conflict of interest. Daschle made millions working for a lobbying firm that handled health care companies.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/160 15.html
Geithner is the guy that had the trouble with statute of limitations questions about back taxes, but he was still confirmed.
Daschle was to head up Health and Human Services but requitted himself because he hadn't paid taxes on lobbyist provided car and driver. He has ties with the healthcare industry and certainly might be subject to conflict-of-interest allegations. It was the right thing to do.
Why are people so up in arms about tax thing? ....you know rich people make companies (which do NOTHING but hold money) to shelter themselves from taxes? Along with all sorts of other things?
Its the way they get to hold onto their moneys >< Thats the way things work when you start making those types of figures.

It's called 'change', Lorik. ;)
Nomo: Ye Gads! I hadn't thought of that. What really irks is those companies might not have been in the position to beg at the government teat if they hadn't been paying those ridiculous sums for the last five years.
This has me so damned angry I'm ready to ask congress to make the cap retroactive - make those barstiges pay.
In fact...that's what I'm gonna do!

The best of the best that make huge amounts are making that for a reason.... they dont just sit there and play golf hahah.
A good CEO or something can turn a company around and generate billions! ...though...a bad one can lose billions....and never be hired again haha
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
