Mmmmm.....cake

So I made a cake for a coworker today. I couldn't help but try an uber small sliver of it. I'll live. It was so good. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting & sprinkles. Although I'm not usually a cake person, I would make this one again. What's your favorite kind of cake? Or other dessert for that matter? Low cal or not :P

Fave dessert?  It depends on my mood - I'm typically a sucker for chocolate anything, but I also love a good fresh strawberry shortcake, pecan pie, or a really rich flan or crem brulee.  And if there was ever a food of the Gods, it's Tiramisu.

I make a wicked Walnut & Date Loaf....   Delicious with a slice of crumbly Lancashire cheese and a cup of tea.

definitely not low cal... but my fav is called silver white cake and its in the betty crocker cook book. When I was in high school one summer, my sister and I made this cake almost every day. Before putting this cake in the oven we would eat like half the batter. haha its sooo good!

I also LOVE angel food cake with strawberries.

I love carrot cake, and then maybe strawberry cake.  Yellow cake is also fine.  For me, chocolate cake is not as good as I think people make it out to be; I'd rather not eat chocolate-flavored things such as cake or pie, but the chocolate itself. =]

chocolate mousse cake hands down. oh my gosh. simply sensational.

and cookie dough. yep just cookie dough. i could eat a TUB.

My mom makes the best carrot cake in the entire world EVER.  Mmmm. 

 

I pretty much love all cakes, pies, cookies, and pastries.  And with my mom being such an amazing baker, it's a wonder I'm not like 400 lbs...especially during the holidays!

my fav is mommy's CC or Celebration cake, dosn't matter the occassion birthday, congrats, going away, oh and of course WEDDING CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite cake is by far red velvet cake with cream cheese icing.

Close runners-up are hummingbird cake (bananas and pineapples in the batter, cream cheese icing, walnuts on top--mmmm!) or any kind of banana cake/bread.  These would probably be my favorite desserts as well, though I also love most kinds of pie, muffins, etc.  I'm just a baked good fiend.

My sister used to make 2 cakes that were out of this world:  a Snickers cake and a butterscotch cake.  OMG....

As far as generic cakes, I usually prefer yellow/white cake with choco icing.

This thread should come with a drool warning.  Some of my favorites are my aunt's recipe cream cheese pound cake and one she calls "Neiman Marcus brownies," not sure who gets the credit for that one, but I got the recipe from her.  Both bake up with this thick, sweet, golden, crispy crust on top and are too good for words.  Homemade Italian cream cake w/homemade cream cheese frosting.  My own recipe Milky Way cheesecake (no-bake) is on the list, too.  It's a long list.  But, I'm one of those who, in a perfect world with no calories, would like to have a meal with every dessert (and always have dessert first)!

I don't think I've ever met a dessert I didn't like....Carrot cake, chocolate cake, banana cake (and I have to agree with las4385...the silver cake in the BC cookbook is DELISH)....cheesecake (all my own recipes of course), brownies, homemade strawberry shortcake, and my hands down all time favorite - creme Brulee. And the apple tarte at Blue Boehme. YUM.

Crap....now I want to go eat something sinful. Better go drink some water or something. :-)

My favorite cakes are spice cakes, strawberry cakes or chocolate cakes. I love carrot cake too, or gingerbread of spice or any cake that has some sort of zing to it, as long as that zing is not lemon or cream cheese... >.> I don't understand cream cheese frosting and I never shall.

I don't particularly enjoy white/yellow cake, anything with banana or citrus though.

I love fruit flavored cakes (not to be confused with fruit cakes!). My favorite is probably strawberry cake with buttercream icing... especially as cupcakes! I also love a dreamsicle cake (orange cake with buttercream icing) or lemon cake!

Tres Leches is also pretty high on my list. It could be my favorite... YUM!!!

If I'm feeling decadent, though, spice cake is another yum.

Really anything but chocolate. I don't like chocolate. Sometimes I think something is wrong with me.

ICECREAM CAKE.

As I continue to read these responses, I also am drooling on the keyboard. (And picking up some new recipies- thanks for the post about the BC silver cake!)

I make black bottom cupcakes...I am famous for them.  However, most of the time, I don't even eat one.  Haha.

I actually sold them for the March of Dimes fundraiser I was involved in.  They were a TOTAL hit and I plan on doing that again.  My sister owns a hair salon and just at her place alone I sold over $40 worth of cupcakes in 2 days.  It was great!
