MOLLY'S DIET RANTS! (ranting, raving, motivating & more)

Quote  |  Reply

RANTING BURNS CALORIES!

This is an open, ongoing, support-encourage-motivational-RANTING thread. Feel free to skip to the end, or spend days reading through all of this ...

* * *

I have decided that "Diet" is a 4-letter word.

I find myself muttering and uttering the word around my house these days with loathing and vehemence previously reserved only for comments directed toward liberal politicians. In fact, I seem to be talking to myself a lot more these days .... sort of a running, sarcastic commentary on all the foods I can't eat, or on various other related topics. I wonder if there is a link between calorie-deprivation and Tourettes Syndrome? Grrrrrrrrr.....

I am now on Day 8 of the dreaded D-word. This is already the longest period of time that I have ever successfully remained on a diet. And I seem to be growing grouchier and feistier each day..... at least when I am alone and no one is around to hear my running rants. (My wonderful DH has heard some of my more memorable rants on the subject of broccolli and reports that I am hysterically funny when I am hungry!) I am counting carbs. I am counting calories. I am counting fat grams. Sheesh ... now my math anxiety is about to kick-in!

Mini Rant #1 .... what masochist decided that the serving size of cereal was anything less than 2 cups? Have you ever measured out 2/3 a cup of cereal? Or even a full cup? And placed it in a bowl? Those few little flakes and pieces just sit forlornly at the bottom of the bowl, shivering and lonely, even when we dribble on a few meager droplets of skim milk! Sheesh. Well, I can tell you that there is simply no way that my oversized body is going to be happy with that tiny amount of cereal ... so I have been eating TWO servings for breakfast. SIGH. And while the side of the box says that I can supplement the cereal with some fruit, they probably don't mean eat 45 cherries with your cereal -- much less 1/2 a watermelon, huh?

Mini Rant #2 .... Things NOT to say to someone who has told you that they have just started on a diet:

1.Good, you sure needed it.
2. It's about time.
3. Really? It doesn't look like it.
4. Again? Haven't we heard this before?
5. Gosh, how much weight do you need to lose?
6. What do you weigh? I've always wondered.
7. I never need to diet, I have a fast metabolism.
8. Really? I can eat all I want and never gain weight.
9. Is THAT why you are so grouchy?
10. I sure hope you plan to exercise a lot more.

AAAUGGH! All of these responses are just the thing to make me even grouchier .... so just smile and say something encouraging and supportive, ok? I will let you know how it is going.

Big virtual {{{{{{HUG!}}}}}} and WELCOME HOME!!!!! to DH Ron!!!!!! LaughingLaughingLaughing

That crazy stepson of mine is at it again: I bought 4 cans of soup last evening --one 100 cal/serving and 3 regular. Which one does he dump in his container to take for 'second lunch'? Yep! The low cal one!!! Yell Kid wants to get about 4000 cals/day and he's eating my low cal stuff....

* evil laugh...! * Surprised

Should we... Could we...? come up with some ideas on how to fix this bad habit...? Wink

Kinda' along the lines of the scale-training Molly sponsored...??? Surprised

* REALLY Evil Laugh...!!! * SurprisedSurprisedWink

He's a teenage boy - there's no chance of getting thru to him unless you lock up all the food.  You know that they live thru their stomachs!  I used to just cringe when my (now 36) step son would come to visit for the weekend.  If it was just him and he came late (midnight or later) on Friday I would have 7 meals to cook for 3 people AND I usually just had to buy some "fillers"  but my grocery bill for 3 days would be 150 or better.  And if he brought his buddies/room mates it was about 500.  And there weren't any left overs and I didn't buy junk!  That finally stopped when he hit his 30's and got married.

I have a Halloween rant.  My son, who will be 3 in January, LOVED trick or treating this year.  He would ring the door bell and say "Look at me!"  Then he would politely take a few (2 or 3) pieces of candy when the bowl was offered and say thank you.  So, if he's just taking a few, WHY does everybody think that they need to fill up his bucket????  I have enough candy in my house to last for 5 years and you know WHO is going to want to get in it at the first sign of PMS!!!!!  I have put some in the freezer and will put some in his Christmas stocking but I still have enough for an army.  If a kid is polite and takes what he wants why make him take more??????  And the BEST part of this???  He hasn't eaten any since Friday night!

{{{Laughing!}}} Laughing

Wow!!! Not quite 3, and already bringing in the candy!!! He MUSTA' been IRRESISTIBLE!!! LaughingWink

You must be strong-- you have years ahead of you, if he's this young!!! However-- if Molly's right-- you just burned enough calories to protect yourself for now... Just remember to Rant again at the first signs of Candy Desire Danger...! Surprised

If he grows an appetite like the step son, you'll be safe one day! Wink

Molly...and everyone else who loves peanut butter out there

I have found a website that cells a new sort of pb....it's called PB2 and is powdered peanut butter derived from squeezing out all of the oil in the peanut. You mix the powder with water and still have the amazing taste and consistency of peanut butter with barely any fat and 85% less calories than normal PB.

2 TBSP (12 grams)

53.2 Calories

1.87 fat gram

Check it out at Bellplantation.com!!!!Laughing

I think Molly uses it... because I THINK I heard of it from her-- and wanted to try it, too... Laughing

Thanks for the reminder and recommendation! Laughing

Let me add my endorsement to PB2. That stuff is marvelous!!!I'm a peanut butter fanatic and I can't believe how much I like it. Plus it has soooo many uses - mix a little in with chocolate sugar free pudding for a delicious treat, put a little in a protein shake...the list is endless. And it makes great regular peanut butter when mixed with the water - just use it the same way you'd use peanut butter from the jar.

Try it, everyone, you'll love it!!!!!!

Do you buy yours through the same place-- Bellplantation? Can you order smaller amounts vs. by the case-- which is what I saw a long time ago, I think...?

Thanks for sharing, I'd really like to try it! Laughing

Maybe Molly can tell us what she thinks, soon... Cool

Check your local healthfood store or Wholefoods if you have one nearby, they probably either carry it or would be willing to order a case.

Thanks, Smwhipple! Laughing

We have no, "Whole Paycheck," here-- Molly's name for it made me feel better--after listening to her talk about it caused me to wish I did have a Whole Foods store nearby! If it's expensive, the awesome selection she talked about wouldn't help me... Frown

I do have a Health Hut... I might call and ask them about that PB2-- thanks for the suggestion! Laughing

* waves to Ssejaclop! * Laughing

I'm unfamiliar with the Diary and character you speak of, but that is a True Rant! Hollywood has harmed countless women, year after year-- CC is soooooo much more Healthy for us all! It's Good you can see through their craziness! Cool

Maybe Molly will be in before very long and know more about the character... Laughing

S-clop, I'm with you about Bridget. Although I love the movies anyway (sorry, those lines about the underwear kill me every time!), the character's stated weight shouldn't be a problem for anyone. Of course, Renee Zelwigger (sp?) is a fanatical runner and my daughter and I couldn't help noticing that although she's supposed to be so overweight, her leg muscles are tight and defined. She usually looks pretty anorexically thin so she did change HER body a lot for the movies.

I agree with the Bridget Jones comments.  She's got a muscular body in the movie and I see nothing wrong with it!

Now to my rant of the day.......Why is it that seemingly normal, intelligent men absolutely REFUSE to understand nutrition and weight loss?????  DH, small fry and I went to breakfast again this morning and he - IN ALL SERIOUSNESS - thought that because he ate a small bowl of oatmeal with butter and sugar on it that the rest of his breakfast of, wait for it.......1/2 ham & cheese omelet, grits, biscuit and sausage gravy, sausage, bacon, fried baloney and a butter and jelly biscuit was a healthy meal????  We just had a loud, serious discussion about it - he's a walking coronary if he keeps eating this way.    And he's whining because we are having baked turkey cutlets with collard greens for dinner.  I make the greens with a touch of olive oil and Tony Chatcherie's (sp?) seasoning and that's it.  I will make another veggie - maybe some baked sweet potatoes - but that's plenty and healthy!

Maybe if he saw it Logged and analyzed... as if in a budget? Surprised

Or in a set up of volume-- like a small meal vs. a BIG meal for the same calorie count? Wink

Good rant, for some folks Don't understand...!!! Like me, maybe they HOPE it ain't soooo bad, lol!!! InnocentSealed

* Thursday morning bump! * Laughing

Any Good Rants today...??? Surprised

My rant--

Missing Molly! Missing Molly! Missing Molly! Missing her Journal, her pictures, her menu's, her rants, her project updates, her special gifts from her special Ron...

* sigh! *

* goes to check on her... has she been in...? *

Hey! She's updated her Gallery-- Love it! May be a Good Sign we'll see her soon? Laughing

Hope! Hope! Hope!!!! LaughingLaughingLaughing

* Growling...! * Yell

WHY does the phone ring non-stop just when I get up EARLY to get some exercise??? Does everybody NEED to call me so early? So often? So LONG...!!! Yell

Maybe ranting will help... Wink

* runs away from phone to get on treadmill... Growling!!! *

If you would like I can send you my small fry to answer the phone while you exercise.  You might not get much done for laughing but I guarantee that he would be deligent in his duties!  He REALLY REALLY loves to talk on the phone, any phone, corded, portable or cell.

No rants today - DH has stayed remarkably quiet about our food.  I made breakfast and lunch and have our dinner planned as well.  I am going to have to work to get all my cals in (unless the dessert fairy visits my house YET AGAIN).

{{{Laughing!}}} Laughing

Sounds Good to me!!! Wish I could... Laughing

Need the Instant Messenger covered, too-- Grrrrr!!! No Escape today!!! Yell

* thinking... *

In-my-Home-Gym... I-WILL-lift-those-weights...! Wink

* runs back for just-a-minute... beats dessert Fairy... dusts off hands and grins... *

THAT oughta' burn some calories! Get SOME exercise, anyway... Safe now...! Wink

Wonder how many calories CC would give us for THAT...??? Molly would know...! SurprisedLaughing
