MOLLY'S DIET RANTS! (ranting, raving, motivating & more)

Quote  |  Reply

RANTING BURNS CALORIES!

This is an open, ongoing, support-encourage-motivational-RANTING thread. Feel free to skip to the end, or spend days reading through all of this ...

* * *

I have decided that "Diet" is a 4-letter word.

I find myself muttering and uttering the word around my house these days with loathing and vehemence previously reserved only for comments directed toward liberal politicians. In fact, I seem to be talking to myself a lot more these days .... sort of a running, sarcastic commentary on all the foods I can't eat, or on various other related topics. I wonder if there is a link between calorie-deprivation and Tourettes Syndrome? Grrrrrrrrr.....

I am now on Day 8 of the dreaded D-word. This is already the longest period of time that I have ever successfully remained on a diet. And I seem to be growing grouchier and feistier each day..... at least when I am alone and no one is around to hear my running rants. (My wonderful DH has heard some of my more memorable rants on the subject of broccolli and reports that I am hysterically funny when I am hungry!) I am counting carbs. I am counting calories. I am counting fat grams. Sheesh ... now my math anxiety is about to kick-in!

Mini Rant #1 .... what masochist decided that the serving size of cereal was anything less than 2 cups? Have you ever measured out 2/3 a cup of cereal? Or even a full cup? And placed it in a bowl? Those few little flakes and pieces just sit forlornly at the bottom of the bowl, shivering and lonely, even when we dribble on a few meager droplets of skim milk! Sheesh. Well, I can tell you that there is simply no way that my oversized body is going to be happy with that tiny amount of cereal ... so I have been eating TWO servings for breakfast. SIGH. And while the side of the box says that I can supplement the cereal with some fruit, they probably don't mean eat 45 cherries with your cereal -- much less 1/2 a watermelon, huh?

Mini Rant #2 .... Things NOT to say to someone who has told you that they have just started on a diet:

1.Good, you sure needed it.
2. It's about time.
3. Really? It doesn't look like it.
4. Again? Haven't we heard this before?
5. Gosh, how much weight do you need to lose?
6. What do you weigh? I've always wondered.
7. I never need to diet, I have a fast metabolism.
8. Really? I can eat all I want and never gain weight.
9. Is THAT why you are so grouchy?
10. I sure hope you plan to exercise a lot more.

AAAUGGH! All of these responses are just the thing to make me even grouchier .... so just smile and say something encouraging and supportive, ok? I will let you know how it is going.

Missin' a Good ole' Molly rant!!!!! Laughing

Sure would start the day off better... Wink

How come my posts to cc crash and burn when I don't have time to retype them??? AND of course, it's only the hugely long ones!!! Grrr.

I feel your pain!  I keep trying to add my food today and have to log in and out of my food log to add one item at a time.  NOT FAIR!!!!!  Typing doesn't burn enough calories!!!!!!

And another thing.  Why is the sky clear and sunny when it's just now 40 outside???HUMMMMM??????AND WINDY, TOO!!!!!!  I would love an outdoor walk (or just to take the garbage out) right about now.

CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!! Cool

Leads to Serious Paranoia, too-- Fear of losing hard work creates uncontrollable copy-and-paste-before-posting syndrome...!!! Really!!! SurprisedLaughing

I'm NOT good at typing, anyhow... so it is extra infuriating! Wink

* waves to Betsy! * Laughing

I agree-- I'm currently studying an online fruit tree catalog for peaches, in self defence from the cruel cold outside, lol! WinkYell

* Wednesday morning and Chilly-bumps! * Laughing

Was 27 F. this morning...! Surprised

"Leads to Serious Paranoia, too-- Fear of losing hard work creates uncontrollable copy-and-paste-before-posting syndrome...!!! "

Yeah, I do that for about a month & of course it behaves itself and I'm lulled into a false sense of security. Then when I least expect it...wham!

Got you beat Itty!  It was 19 at about 5 this morning.  At least the wind is not howling like it was yesterday.  I have decided that shivering has to burn calories.  Small fry and I are both getting over being sick so we are stuck in the house together.  At least I have TONS of unpacking still to do, plus plan my food for T day.  Still, I would like to go and get the mail.

I agree to that, Chris! We had an awful computer before, with Millennium on it, which constantly froze and lost text, etc... we have been enjoying good computers for years now, and the shock of sudden failure ain't Fun when you're used to good behavior from the sneaky beasties...! SurprisedLaughing

Glad ya'll are mending, Betsy! I'll keep the higher 20's Gladly-- Brrrrrrr!!!!! Surprised

Shivering and exercising in the cold, HAVE been proven to burn extra calories... Wink

Rant-- My neck hurts, my head hurts-- sinus allergy, and I have a LOT to do!!! Need to go shopping-- Don't wanna'...!!! Out of bread, no sandwich for lunch-- already logged in before I knew, of course! Yell

Hope ya'll have a better day than I'm workin' on, lol!!! Laughing

Funny-- the spellchecker didn't like beasties or proven... but I do, lol! Wink

NEVER likes my Southern Drawl text, either-- as a writer I refuse to conform through the power granted by Artistic Licence, lol!!!!  YellLaughing

Need Molly to tell me how many calories you can burn arguing with the spellchecker...? Wink

Rant: pants w spandex blend that are too snug when you put them on and then too loose later in the day.

Similar Rant: Royal size pantyhose on height-challenged folks! Tight at the top-- elephant skin at the ankles...!!!!!!! (Kids DO say stuff, too-- like elephant legs...???) Undecided

Diabolical! YellWink

I'm telling you - there is a conspiracy out there.  They don't make spandex and panty hose for any one under 6 feet and over 120 lbs.  And speaking of spandex......I was SSSOOOOO excited that leggings are back.  I loved them the first time around.  I got a pair and they are much thicker than what I used to have.  Have been running around my house cleaning and doing "stuff" in them.  Got a glimpse of my backside in them and OMG I look like cottage cheese is manufactured on my butt!!!!!!  Didn't even bother to check out the thunder thighs.  These are Danskin workout leggings, supposed to be nicer and more "enveloping".  Guess that I don't need an envelope, I need a brown paper wrapper!

{{{Laughing!}}} Laughing

I can't have BLACK at all...!!! Like Molly, I have kitty's... in orange and white, and grey and white...!!! Fur looks much better on them, than on me-- esp. scattered all over a generous sized!... black background, lol! Surprised

Yeah, that's why I love Molly so.....I have 7 myself at the moment - 3 adult and 4 7 weeks old.  And yes, they are all colors of the rainbow.  It doesn't matter what I wear, I look like the cottage cheese factory rolled in a fur patch.  Wouldn't have it any other way, though.  I have had a pet of some sort since I was 5 and I will until the day I die (if I have my way).

Now for my second rant of the day.....The Cook's Pest Control man came to inspect the house and tell me how much it would be to carry over the contract from the previous owners.  While chatting with him small fry slipped away, presumably to take himself to the potty.  I taught him to pull his pants up and down the other day.  Didn't come back.  When we got quiet I heard this small voice saying "help mommy!".  Found him, sans pants, on my marble bathroom counter where he had liberally sprayed himself with my perfume to mask the odor of pee and poop - which was also on the counter.  He was slippery and could not climb down the same way he got up.  I wanted to beat him senseless and laugh all at the same time!  Thank GOD for marble counters and tile floors!

{{{Laughing!!!}}} Laughing

Oh, my...!!! All he needed was to get that perfume in his eyes, too-- I'm ready to cry myself when that happens to me!!! Wink

Sure takes me back to my own young'un's escapades...!!! Laughing

(I'm NOT believing I'd survive another batch of 'em, lol! I feel too old...) SurprisedLaughing

Zippedee doo dah, Zippedee day--

My, Oh, My! It's so Chilly today...!!!!!!! Surprised

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool

Furry cats are WONDERFUL on cold mornings!!! Laughing

(to the tune of My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.....)

My fanny lies over the hearth

My hands lie over it, too

My nose is frozen like ice

and my fingers and toes are blue!

It's a balmy 35 at 11:30 and not supposed to get much warmer.  How the heck am I supposed to strip and stand on the scales when it's cold enough for my backside to freeze to the toilet seat????

* reads post... sings along... reads more... covers eyes and runs away laughing...!!! * Laughing

(I'm Blessed/Cursed with a VIVID imagination... what a sight, lol!!!) SurprisedWink

Try being stuck on the phone with the phone company-- or anything irritating-- for 3 hours, and maybe your ire will warm you through the loon-nggg waits they place you on...-- my Rant today, lol! Yell

They did treat me very nicely, though-- more services, cheaper! I was trying to reduce the bill by cutting services, and now have more for less-- rare indeed! Laughing

Rant-- I need a warm-weather, ranting-Molly fix!!! She's probably still Hot in California!!! Surprised

I don't WANT to go shopping when it's in the 20's... or 30's... or 40's... or 50's!!! Yell

Cat food is getting low in the bucket-- now I HAVE to go...lol! Wink

I ran to the grocery store and post office to see who was looking for me and get small fry some food.  We are doing the big shopping tomorrow with daddy.  I am lucky in that the kittens eat one kind of food, the parents eat another, and my big boy who is glued to my side eats a third.  I usually don't run out all at one time and can swap out a meal or two.  We are supposed to be in the 50's today but it's 2 and about 48 so I don't see it happening.  At least it's not supposed to be as cold tonight!
