MOLLY'S DIET RANTS! (ranting, raving, motivating & more)
RANTING BURNS CALORIES!
This is an open, ongoing, support-encourage-motivational-RANTING thread. Feel free to skip to the end, or spend days reading through all of this ...
* * *
I have decided that "Diet" is a 4-letter word.
I find myself muttering and uttering the word around my house these days with loathing and vehemence previously reserved only for comments directed toward liberal politicians. In fact, I seem to be talking to myself a lot more these days .... sort of a running, sarcastic commentary on all the foods I can't eat, or on various other related topics. I wonder if there is a link between calorie-deprivation and Tourettes Syndrome? Grrrrrrrrr.....
I am now on Day 8 of the dreaded D-word. This is already the longest period of time that I have ever successfully remained on a diet. And I seem to be growing grouchier and feistier each day..... at least when I am alone and no one is around to hear my running rants. (My wonderful DH has heard some of my more memorable rants on the subject of broccolli and reports that I am hysterically funny when I am hungry!) I am counting carbs. I am counting calories. I am counting fat grams. Sheesh ... now my math anxiety is about to kick-in!
Mini Rant #1 .... what masochist decided that the serving size of cereal was anything less than 2 cups? Have you ever measured out 2/3 a cup of cereal? Or even a full cup? And placed it in a bowl? Those few little flakes and pieces just sit forlornly at the bottom of the bowl, shivering and lonely, even when we dribble on a few meager droplets of skim milk! Sheesh. Well, I can tell you that there is simply no way that my oversized body is going to be happy with that tiny amount of cereal ... so I have been eating TWO servings for breakfast. SIGH. And while the side of the box says that I can supplement the cereal with some fruit, they probably don't mean eat 45 cherries with your cereal -- much less 1/2 a watermelon, huh?
Mini Rant #2 .... Things NOT to say to someone who has told you that they have just started on a diet:
1.Good, you sure needed it.
2. It's about time.
3. Really? It doesn't look like it.
4. Again? Haven't we heard this before?
5. Gosh, how much weight do you need to lose?
6. What do you weigh? I've always wondered.
7. I never need to diet, I have a fast metabolism.
8. Really? I can eat all I want and never gain weight.
9. Is THAT why you are so grouchy?
10. I sure hope you plan to exercise a lot more.
AAAUGGH! All of these responses are just the thing to make me even grouchier .... so just smile and say something encouraging and supportive, ok? I will let you know how it is going.

Molly makes me laugh too much to take one bite!
It is hard to eat when you are laughing that's for sure
Could laughing your butt off really be the cure?
It sure makes you ponder and think
While missing your shower can cause a stink
So maybe perhaps not the best thing
But at least then I am not annoying anybody when I sing!
So no singing in the shower
While I am on here for hours!
Reading and laughing at Molly's posts
I'm tellin ya man its the most!
So if you haven't read through every page
You really should its all the rage
So come in and pull up a chair
Its Molly's new place to air
All her complaints in such a fun way
You just have to read it everyday!
You know what really helps when you eat cereal? If you eat it out of a 1cup tupawear dish. It makes you think you're eating more and helps to not over pour on milk. I don't ever eat cereal any way unless is FiberOne, and I never drink cows milk. I only ever drink SILK (soy milk). Especially the vanilla silk milk. On something plain, it gives it a nice taste. Though I know a lot of people dislike soy milk, but I LOVE IT!
I eat a lot of my food out of tupawear. It helps me measure things out and it might look a little funny but at least it helps.
Why is it the liquid that comes from SOME fruits/veggies is called JUICE (tomato juice, carrot juice, grape juice) ... where the liquid that comes from other fruits/veggies is called MILK (coconut milk, soy milk)?
Since many vegetarians aren't eating meat for reasons such as a dislike of meat (or philosophical objection to meat), why are so many vegetarian products designed to look like meat and (theoretically) taste like meat?
How is a "cheese food product" different from actual cheese, anyway? And should I be worried that they felt the need to add the word "food" into the product description?
OK ... those foods with NO calories (Diet Pepsi, fake spray butter) ... what is IN them, anyway? It is just water and chemicals?
_____
=^..^= Molly (wondering, wandering and pondering)
Ponderings:
And why are fruits packed in juice not packed in their own juice, but others?
Is there a conspiracy by animal rights groups to get non-vegetarians to eat those meat imitations?
If I put a bit of peanut butter into a jar of library paste, does it then become a "peanut butter food product"?
So, how many servings of those NO calries foods does it take to equal ONE calorie, as we KNOW there's calories lurking in there somewhere?
If a food is labelled as "Healthy" why does it contain unnatural ingredients? And watch out for those lo-fat items, because they've substituted extra carbs to cover the lack of taste. And just why is "sugarless" more expensive? If you take out an ingredient, shouldn't it Lower the price?
I stepped on the scale this morning (well, actually, I stepped on the scale 7 times, but that is another story) and lost an impressive .... three-tenths of one pound. That's it? Three-tenths of one pound? Not even a measly HALF pound? I lost only 4 ounces?? FOUR OUNCES?? I've been eating fat free cottage cheese, diet bread, and a mountain of broccoli and I've only lost 3/10ths of a pound!?! OK ... who turned up the gravity at my house?
My dear husband -- bless his heart -- patiently stood by me in the hallway this morning (it has a tiled floor) and read off the numbers on the digital scale SEVEN times as I stepped on it, and off it. On it, and off it. On it, and off it. As I ranted about losing just 3/10ths of a pound, he was wisely quite silent, and merely kissed me on the cheek and hid the scale back wherever he has been hiding it from me. Even though we had previously AGREED to just let me get weighed once per week, I cheated on Monday by getting weighed THEN ... rather than today (Wednesday), my designated weigh-in day. (I did lose more weight as of Monday's weigh-in.)
(SIGH) I think I will go back to just once-a-week weigh-ins, on Mondays. (That should be a helpful incentive to avoid eating a bath tub full of Thai food on the weekends, right?)
Grrr .... I hate my scale.

=^..^= MOLLY (one rant darn well better burn some calories)
Have you seen the news article about microwave popcorn causing lung disease? Always knew there was something funny about that "buttery" tasting stuff!
What is the matter with the food industry? Don't they realize if they keep killing off their customers with all these processed foods, they won't have any customers left to buy the junk??
http://health.yahoo.com/news/179052
I sure hope your not a fan of this stuff! I grew to love air-popped, plain when I was pregnant with my daughter and had to be (completely) salt free due to toxemia. That "buttery" stuuf gags me, can't even stand the smell!
I got to meet our Daycare provider, and we talk diets. I tell her I have just lost 55 pounds..and she says:
"Wow, I can't tell"
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!! YOU CANT TELL????? Argh.
that small can of tuna? 2.5 servings not just 2. crazy! I always eat the whole can.
Kashi heart to heart mixed with Fiber One. Can't handle Fiber One by itself!
My boyfriend won't admit that we are dating, even though we have been mutually exclusive and spending a lot of time together for over a year. We have slept together four times and call and text a lot. But he is not ready for commitment. It makes me think if I lost a few pounds or got a raise or something he might notice me or get jealous. He also gives me unsolicited advice and likes to assume he's right about everything. I am smarting right now, for sure, because of his refusal to take it to the next level. He is a little overweight, and feeling his age. he is quite a bit older
My boss is critical, non supportive, sarcastic, and demanding. But he is overweight. I feel like showing them that I have something they don't and can't.
