In the moment Q... death penalty, which way?
So just chilling after work waiting to get sleepy and I was half watching some movie which was on, no idea what it was all about but some guy got put to the electric chair which posed the thought
"if i were ever to face the death penalty which way would i prefer, the chair, lethal injection or hanging"?
I am verging on the injection i feel that if i was gonna be killed that would be the lesser of the three.
Which would you pick and why?
I wouldn't choose lethal injection.
And certainly not the chair for similar reasons.
Of your choices, hanging has the greatest chance of being quick due to a severed spinal cord.
Given a choice, I'd just assume a single gunshot to the head.
Probably hanging. Injection is incredibly painful, I've heard (something about the sodium pentothal not always superceding the burning feeling of the cyanide), and the electric chair sounds awful too. Ever gotten a little jolt of minor electric shock? Even the sensation of a little shock is awful.
Hanging would probably be quickest... One just has to hope that the neck breaks. Otherwise someone might be conscious for a number of seconds before oxygen deprivation made him or her pass out.
Oh no i don't fancy the gunshot, what if the bullet got lodged or there was a misfire....
I think the trauma of hanging would be too much for me but i didn't realise the injection was that bad! of course the fastest way to die is drowning but then you have the trauma again....
it's quite tricky isn't it....i think my last request would be to be heavily sedated :)
What about the gas chamber?
I finished reading In Cold Blood recently and Capote wrote that both killers were dangling there for at least 20 minutes before their hearts stopped beating.
I'd take the shot to the head like Santonacci.

Hmmm, interesting.
I'm taking a few pharmacy courses and my instructor said that they knock them unconscious before the injection. If my instructor is correct...that's what I would go with.
Ah never thought about gas, carbon-monoxide poisoning would definitely be the way to go you just fall asleep and it's all over.

Okay - two simultaneous gunshots to the head by trained marksmen.
And there's just the idea of being sedated or false appearance of sleep that I don't care for. In the case of an execution, I would prefer to face the inevitable with my eyes open.

More economical too. You just need a car and a garage.

But whats experienced in that sleep when the lungs are straining for oxygen.
Suffocation seems the most torturing aspect of death to me although in a horror literature class, they said burning to death was most feared. The most instant is best so thinking thats bullet/brain.
I thought they usually use hydrogen cyanide in gas chambers instead of carbon monoxide? Kills quicker. It's ugly stuff.

Their hearts may have been beating, but I'm sure they were unconscious after a minute or two. Nevertheless, gunshot might be the way to go. Better than being drawn and quartered, anyway.
Hanging. Actually I'll just say anything other than LI.
The same way they do animals... OD me on anesthesia.
Doused in gasoline, lit, then thrown of the empire state building yelling "Put this on youtube" on the way down.
Sounds epic to me. I'm fairly sure that the flames would burn my nerves quickly enough that it wouldn't be as painful as you'd imagine. Thought I've never been entirely on fire either so I'm just guessing. :D
you are most probably right about the gas jewels i was just thinking about gasses i know of and that was the first one which popped into my head.
I think i would go the gas route i'm figuring that if someone found themselves in the situation where they were given the death sentence and had waited i believe sometimes many years for it to be carried out that they would have suffered enough stress and emotional trauma so i would most definitely want my last few moments on this earth to be as peaceful as possible.
so yes i would consider the anesthesia also or what about a massive dose of morphine....
I guess i'd pick the hanging, but i would want to be back at my old heavier weight, to make sure the deed gets done right! But then again, the rope snapping would suck too... and if that did happen, could i sue, and get an extention/reprieve for mental anguish
?
kawnd... thanks i'm still giggling..hee hee very funny.
Id take the injection - with the knowledge that hopefully I am unconscious and dont feel the pain.
Hanging - ummm, Id probably pee my pants waiting for the chute to drop me.
Electric chair - I KNOW I'd pee my pants and a few other things.
I got into a heated argument with a coworker over this a few years ago because apparently it upset her that I said I'd choose to be beheaded.
I would insist on a very experienced decapitator, of course (and no doubt my every wish would be instantly obeyed) ![]()
Ooooo beheading. I'd try to make a funny face. ;F
