And I have a small victory to report, weighed in at 179.2 today! Out of the 180s for the first time since joining CC in 2006. (Didn't really take me that long, there was the little incedent of having a baby along the way to slow things up a bit.) I have a weekend trip out of town so I'm going to try really hard to eat as well as possible so that number stays until MONDAY!!!!
That is SOOOO awesome!!! Good for you! I hope you have a successful weekend. I gained last week so I need to get back into the 140's.

Awesome job! Congratulations on making into the 170's. You'll be at your goal soon!
I like the idea of re-introducing weekly challenges and I can try to take charge of that. I think my life has settled down, relatively speaking, and now I can really focus on getting back into shape. Ideas for challenges I have are:
-logging every day (how many people do this?)
-water challenge (drinking at least 1.5L/day)
-fiber challenge (25g/day -- I have to double check but I believe this is the recommended)
-meeting your calorie deficit goal
-exercise (maybe get points for minutes exercised and/or calories burned).
Let me know what you think and I'll post a challenge on Sunday night so we can all start Monday.
Thanks for keeping me on the board even though I haven't been able to give my weight loss my full attention.

Caroline - I like reintroducing the weekly challenges also. It would be great to have someone else take this on. Thank you for that. Any of the ideas you have are great. For water to kick start weight loss, we should drink half of our body weight in ounces each day. We could use that # vs a set amount.
Also - we could do the challenge through email too. Whatever is easiest.
I was up from 148.6 to 150 last week and am down to 149.2 this week. Why is it that weight is SO easy to put on and hard to take off? A few off days with a burger and some cookies and poof! :)
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: 03/17/08
For any of you interested in being challenged, the goal this week is simply to log your food. Research shows that one of the main factors across diet plans that leads to weight loss is actually logging what you eat -- definitely makes me more likely to stop before I put things in my mouth, eat something off kids plates, etc. and allows you to really see what you're eating.
So please let me know if you're up for the challenge and for every day we log, then we'll each get a point. We'll see how many points we get at the end of the week.

I found when I was nursing was the easiest time to eat healthy and lose weight. It didn't just fall off though. I had to be conscious of what I ate and I also started exercising. But logging helped me see how much I was eating. I think I still tried to stay at 1800-2000 for my calorie intake and also added in any extra calories I burned while exercising and it seemed to work.
It is time consuming. But I found it also helps me plan what I eat.

And I've totaly bombed on this weeks logging challenge. I haven't made it one whole day yet!
Funny you came up with the same idea I did! I feel like I have the file open for DAYS and get it updated and then it is time to do it all over again.
So - for now on....I will try and remember to send out a reminder email to the group on Sunday. Have your weigh in's into me by 5pm Mondays. I will post by Tuesday. I am going to update right now.

I agree Lynne! I do much better on weekends knowing we have weigh in on MOnday. I used to weigh in on Fridays and it is a totally different mindset. :)
I find myself eating less on the weekends because I know Monday morning I want to be happy with my numbers. That is why I hope we keep our Monday weigh ins and not change them to Sundays. I wish you all the best with your weigh ins today. It is a new week! Lets shed some pounds Mama's!
This week's challenge is to both track your food intake/log AND a water challenge:
EITHER:
drink half your body weight in water (e.g. I would drink 75 oz for my weight)
--OR--
According to the Mayo Clinic the recommended water intake for men is 3.0 liters (13 cups) and women is 2.2 liters (9 cups/75 ounces).
Good luck everyone. I had so much better days when I logged it all -- the days when I didn't log was when I somewhat cheated -- it's so hard with Easter and baking sugar cookies with the kids, all the Easter candy, and Easter dinner at parents.
