Monday check-ins and a question for everyone..

Quote  |  Reply

Hey!  I'm Kristen!  I'm having weekly weigh-ins on Monday.  I figure that knowing I have to get on the scale Monday morning will help me do well over the weekend :)  Anyone want to join?  You can post weight loss instead of actual weight, that would work too, though we all seem to be in the same boat.

And here is my question:  I know that I have a more solid core than the average girl, but how can I put this in perspective?  I was really shocked to find that a girl with similar measurements as me weighs 180-something, while I weigh 230-something.  My measurements are bust: 48, waist: 38, hips: 47.  Anyone with similar measurements want to chime in?

I'm trying to determine my final goal weight.  My personal best has been 170, and I wasn't skinny, I still had a little bit of a belly, but I looked and felt amazing.  I'm 5'7 by the way, and 20 years old.  I used to run distance and dance so.. sigh.. this is pretty woeful to report.

Hey Kristen,

Whoa.. that's a lot!  I'd say that's a bit too aggressive.  Did you know the most weight loss you should aim for is 2 pounds a week?  Granted, more will probably come off the first week or two or even that first month, if you follow your plan that is supposed to help you los 2 pounds per week,  but aiming for 2 or less than that is the healthy way to go.  My goal is one pound a week.  I can eat up to 2300 calories in one day and do that.. but my calories limit for each day is 2000.  You know what?  By making sure my carbs have high fiber ratios and eating snacks throughout the day, and not eating after 5 PM, I snuck a peek at the scale this morning and I'm down 5.5. pounds from Wednesday morning.  A lot of it is probably fluid.. but I definitel met my goal this week!

Anyway, I hope everyone stays healthy on this journey!  It's not going to be an easy one.. you need your body on *your* team, don't make it the enemy :)

I am in for monday weigh-ins, though mine might not come until the evenings.. I know thats not ideal, but I usually go the gym after work and they have a much more reliable scale.

Last I checked I was about 212, but I will weigh tomorrow and post tomorrow.  I am very excited to motivate and be motivated by everyone!!

Cool! I'd like to weigh in tomorrow too! I'm 5'1 and 32 yrs old and currently 205lbs (down 9.2 since I've joined). I'm so excited on this journey right now. I'm waiting for it to get hard so I'm collecting friends now to hopefully help me later! LOL Feel free to email me at reginalynncreations@yahoo.com good luck.

I'm totally game for Monday weigh-ins...I like the way you think...if I'm held accountable on Mondays then I'll HAVE to be good over the weekend!

As for my measurements, I have no idea what they are yet...I'm just getting started and to be honest I'm not sure I'm ready to face more than just the poundage at the moment.

Speaking of which...I'm 4'11'' and medium frame...they tell me I should weigh 108!  It seems to me that I'd look emaciated at that weight!  Am I the only one who feels like that is unreasonable?

I'm excited to have someone to report to.  I'd thought about doing Weight Watchers but don't have the time for meetings.  I'd gone to a dietician a couple years ago and know how to eat, I just got severely off track after surgery.  Okay, I'll be truthful.  I let job, kid and stress ruin my weight loss.

I'm on track again and taking charge of the situation.  I haven't measured myself.  But my goal is to get to 140.  I'm at 194, so I've got a long way to go.  The website says April 2010.  I can handle that.

I do think the weight guidelines are crazy.  I got down to my supposed optimal weight once.  I was dizzy and tired all the time.  My body doesn't work as well at 120 as it does at 135.

Congrats and welcome...I'm new too...good luck :-)

Yay for company!

I sgree about optimal weight.. my frame is really large.  At 170, I think I had 5-10 pounds to lose, total.  I think that my final goal weight will be 160, but I'm focused on losing a pound a week for 52 weeks first!

I figure since this is gona last a while I need to take it slow.. which is why I am a bit surprised and very happy to report that I have lost a total of 6 pounds since Wednesday, when I started!

237.5-231.5

Well it's Monday!

I'm weighing in at 181...which means I actually gained a pound :-(

Could being on my period have something to do with it?

Well...this just means I have to kick it into gear for next week!!!

How did everyone else do?

I will try to post every Monday.  I just started a 4 week fitness boot camp today (I am SO sore already!) and we weigh in on Friday's so I'll just use my weight from that.  I weighed 197 yesterday and my waist was like 44 I think?  This was the hardest I have ever exercised in my life and I'm not a beginner with exercising (I just don't stick to it long enough!).  I am expecting big changes in my weight but an even bigger change in my life and discipline in general.  Good luck to everyone!

It could absolutely have something to do with that.  The water you retain during that time shows up on the scales.  Water retention throws lots of people for loops, that's why so many people recommend using your measurements instead.  Though I don't see how that's any different, because I know my measurements grow when I'm PMSing too!

Hi I am in for Monday's also. Today 1/5/09 is my first day. I am 5' 2" and I weight 188.  MY goal is 127. So I have a long way to go and would love to have people to support and who support me.

Hello...I'm in for Mondays..and today is my first day too!

I'm 6ft tall and currently 236lbs. I had a baby in June and want to get in shape before I get pregnant again. My goal weight is 180lbs. My frame is larger than the average person as well...so I know how you feel...the number is ALWAYS going to be big! I was in fantasic shape in high school, not an inch of fat anywhere and I weighed 160lbs.  Being that it was 6 years ago, a husband and a baby later...I think a good goal is 180lbs. My biggest problem is impatience. I get discouraged without immediate results..anybody else the;r own worst enemy??

Hey all! I would love to do monday weigh in! Sounds great to me!

I am 27 years old/ female. I am in college still and plan to graduate with my bachelors in May. I hope to lose maybe 15-20 pounds by graduation date. And hope to lose the rest steady at a time. I am around 186 (I fluctuate from 185-189) so I have a bit to lose.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I am 5' 9.5" and weigh (UGH!!) 245.5Cry My goal is 168. I am trying to maintain a postitive attitude for my children (both girls). I am attempting to make a lifestyle change instead of a diet. I really don't want them going through what I have gone through most of my life.

I really hate exercise without a point, so I have tried to make a point to play with my girls. My Husband says that I would need "formal" exersize, but we play tag and dance till my muscles ache. I think my biggest downfall is portion control and emotional eating. I am very depressed about my weight at my age (35) and I know how hard it is going to be to lose it. I just don't want to be "the Fat Mom". I want my girls to be proud of me!!!

(and I want to feel sexy againEmbarassed)

Congrats kristen_in_2009 6lbs in less than a week is awsome. I'm happy to say I'm also down 204.6lbs. so lets keep going guys we can do this!!!

Hi my name is marick and I am new to the site (signed up yesterday).

My starting weight is: 250

My healthy goal weight (according to DR.) is : 180

Hips: 56

Waist: 41.25

Bust: 48.25

I am 5'8" and 28. I want to get healthy!

I used to be a 3 sport athlete (basketball, volleyball and softball) for about 15-16 years, but after high school just let myself go! I am ready to be back to where I was.

Good Luck Everyone!Smile

It's day 3 for me and i'm down 4 lbs!

I'm 5'3 at 180 lbs (176 now Laughing) and i'm totally ready to get this baby weight off!!

My son Logan is 6 months now. I nursed for over 4 months, which was a great way to slowly burn calories, but now that i've stopped, it's even harder to get the weight off. So, here i am, ready to roll!
