Monday check-ins and a question for everyone..
Hey! I'm Kristen! I'm having weekly weigh-ins on Monday. I figure that knowing I have to get on the scale Monday morning will help me do well over the weekend :) Anyone want to join? You can post weight loss instead of actual weight, that would work too, though we all seem to be in the same boat.
And here is my question: I know that I have a more solid core than the average girl, but how can I put this in perspective? I was really shocked to find that a girl with similar measurements as me weighs 180-something, while I weigh 230-something. My measurements are bust: 48, waist: 38, hips: 47. Anyone with similar measurements want to chime in?
I'm trying to determine my final goal weight. My personal best has been 170, and I wasn't skinny, I still had a little bit of a belly, but I looked and felt amazing. I'm 5'7 by the way, and 20 years old. I used to run distance and dance so.. sigh.. this is pretty woeful to report.

Hello! Thanks to everyone for sharing their hopes and fears, I can relate! I'm starting today. Here are my stats:
Height: 5'2.5"

Bust: 43" (38DD)
Upper arm: 13.5"
Waist: 45"

Calf: 16.75"
I'm really hoping to reduce my waist, bust, heck, all over! I'm eating 1600 cals per day. I'm currently sedentary but will start a walking program a couple of days a week on this Thursday or Friday.
One thing I would like to add that has consistently derailed my progress over and over again- alcohol!
Just one or two drinks sends me into gorging mode. I have decided to eliminate it out of my diet completely. It sabotages my efforts too easily.
This Saturday I hosted a Halloween party and I did not touch one drop of alcohol and I notice I ate soooo much less. I didn't splurge on sweets and overeat on the party treats. This is a 360 from my old hearty party self.
I had a blast at the party and was much more clear headed as a bonus.
When I used to weigh 135lbs, I remember I used to drink two pots of orange pekoe (black) tea per day. I also remember drinking a lot of water. I'm going back to my old thin person ways.
Another thing that's an important realization for me was that I used to feel fat at 5'2.5" and 135lbs. Ridiculous eh? NOW I feel fat because I KNOW I'm fat. But now my self esteem is higher and when I get back down to that weight again I will FEEL GREAT!!! Even at 189 (10% goal weight) I will start feeling pretty good!

I will post on Mondays also. I can't remember what my actual measurements are, I am at school and don't have a tape measure. But I am roughly 210 and want to get down to 162, I think. My personal goal is to get to a size 10. I was a size ten in 8th grade and would love to be back down there. I am 20 also and 5'9".
I did really good this weekend considering it was Halloween and my roommate's birthday. Her son throw a big party but I was a good girl and didn't go over board. I do seem to be at a plateau though. My weight has been stuck around 190 for over a month now. Hopefully I can get it to jump down. Good luck this week everyone.

sexycristina - welcome to the team and good luck with cutting out your alcohol! I remember feeling fat when I was about 140, shame it took me until 260lbs to realise that I was just fine at that weight!!

Only 2 lbs to go until I am in an overweight BMI range, I think I've been in the obese category for about 10 years!!
THere is something terribly wrong when it takes 3,500 calories burned to reduce by 1 pound, but it only takes an extra 1,000 calories on one day to gain 2.5!!!! Have a great week everyone!

Well, I'm wondering what the *(&% this morning. I did so good all weekend and today my weight is back up. I've decided I've got to go see a doctor. I've had hypothyroidism since I was 30 and ever since I've moved to Kentucky I've had problems getting the right dozage. I'm making an appointment this morning with an endogrinologist and metabolism specialist to see if there isn't something that can be done. It's so frustrating when you watch your calories so closely and then have this happen. ARRRGH!![]()

Cat - thats the beauty of trains, you can always have a quick stop over and get right back on the next one.
That's how I feel this week. I'm on holidays and going through lots of stress related to fertility testing and completely feel off. I was still eating small amounts but I didn't watch exactly how much and the quality was crap- and last night I actually ate KFC - OMGGGGG!!!!!
so, suprise suprise, I actually lost weight last week despite all of that, im sure it will catch me in the scale next week but for now:

Thanks for the post and words of encouragement. I am detoxifying from refined sugar this week after Halloween et al. The last hour of work when it can get slow gets me wanting to snack...but i can and will make it without a bad snack!

Hi, Im Shelly. Im 23 and 8 weeks postpartum. I gained a lot of weight with this pregnancy and its not coming off like it did with my daughter. I am 6'0'' and weigh 287lbs. I want to get down to 200lbs one day but my goal right now is 220lbs by July 2010. I stand all day at work but thats pretty much it for my exercise, I know i need to add exercise so im thinking of running up and down the steps everyday for 20 min or so. Im also starting to count calories. Hope this works:)
