I figured I would start a new Monday weigh-in group (I actually couldn't find any...but I'm sure they're out there). For all those people who weigh in on Mondays, come here to share your progress, your setbacks, and find a buddy or two!


After gaining 15lbs in the past 3 months (ugh), I need to get back to working out and eating right like I used to! I want to get back on track before I start graduate school in July, so I can take those healthy habits with me into my new life! Anyway, today I am starting again. I have a new mindset: I don't hope to lose the weight or hope to become healthy. I AM going to lose the weight and I AM going to be healthy.


With that said,

I weigh in on Mondays!

 

I put on just over 20 pounds in about 3-4 months when I quit smoking last August and I had 50+ to lose already.  Ugh.  I’m very proud of quitting smoking (after 16 years of it!) but I’ve been struggling with weight all of my life.  It was tough to add on so much in such a short amount of time.

But I’m back on track now, have been running for 6 weeks and counting my calories for about 4.

I think some accountability might do me good. I've been struggling with weight for several years, and then over the last year or so something has gone wrong and I gained 40 lbs (I stopped drinking 2+ times a week and no more taco bell and rallys - shouldn't that have been a good thing?). At any rate, I'm going to be exercising at least 4 days a week and planning more veggies in every meal. We'll see how that turns out.

Hello everyone.  I used to weigh in on Tuesdays, and now it's weighing in whenever I even halfway think about the scale (which at this point isn't that often, with school being a total buzzkill).

I'm a college student, if you didn't catch the school comment.  High stress, low maintenance, low to midgrade self esteem.  That's about it for me.

Here's my history:

January 8, 2008 (last year):  198 lb
July 31, 2008: 155 lb
April 27, 2009 (TODAY):  175.4 lb

I want to take that 20 pounds back off, and possibly lose as much as 20 more.  I've done it once, and I can do it again.  I've been off the bandwagon for so long that it's almost a heartbreak to see the scale back in the mid-170's.

BTW, for now, I'm going to steal temptingfate12's goal weight, and see if I can get there.

Hey everyone! I'm so glad I just came across this, I had never considered only weighing in once a week and would always get discouraged at seeing the same number the next day. Hopefully this will motivate me more!!

I'm a junior in nursing school so like leopardrayne said "high stress and low maintenance" with a huge touch of zero time.

I started at 180 and am now down to 170. I want to get down to 128 eventually but not until february 2010 or so. I'm already excited for a week from today!

Carrie - That's great that you've been sticking with it! And great progress! I used to run pretty regularly, so I need to get back into it. For now, I've taken up cycling along the canal where I live until I feel comfortable running again.

Maryo - That's a great mindset! I think I always used to get caught up in the final goal instead of the short-term goals along the way. Good luck!

Angelique - Accountability is exactly what I needed! I had to cut out the fast food from my diet too...french fries are my weakness. We have the same goal weight! How tall are you?

Sidd - That's understandable! And it's all part of the process...good luck!

Kelsey - Amazing progress! You're a great inspiration to me :)

Leo - Wow! Your story sounds much like mine! I was down to 155 this summer, maintained until about January, and once my last undergraduate semester began I gained 15 points and am back to 170 with graduation one week away. Good luck!

Nursegirl - I think that weekly weigh-ins are the way to go (for me, at least!). It's hard not to get discouraged when you see the scale stay at the same place (or up!) each day. For me, it's more satisfying when I see a 3lb weight loss for the week than a .2lb weight loss for the day. What I will say though, is some weeks you won't lose...but don't be discouraged then either! Next week you'll just lose that much more if you keep doing what you're doing!

I hope you do not mind if I join, I have been reading around the site for a few weeks now, but didnt want to join a thread that had been established months or even years ago. Most of the board seems pretty slow....

My name is Sunny, I am 32 and currently in Iraq. I started out this year at 160 pounds and have gotten down to 133 and I am just barely 5'5. I am looking to finsh with my weight loss (125), it is so hard to lose these last few pounds. I would love to have a Monday weigh in, I think that would help to stay on track during the weekend. It is hard to find healthy foods out here so I have been sticking to grilled chicken breast, Salads and Veggies.

My husband and I are going on vacation in June and I am really trying to get to goal by then. But do it healthy.

Temptingfate 12 - o god I know... it's awesome that we have the same thing going on.  This summer will involve more steps and more heat, and less eating (i hate eating when I'm too hot)

And my gallbladder's keput so there's another big reason I'll be losing weight.  No fat allowed in diet!  I screwed up tonight for most of today and I can feel the sensitivity.  Kinda in the area that one gets heartburn but more like a stabbing.  That's when you say, sadface, much!

But I stayed within my food goal range!  Here's my bad eating for today:

1 small "3 oz" container of Chick Fil-A fries 270 cal
1 Reese's Peanut Butter Cup 210 cal
24 fl oz Diet Coke 0 cal
Pizza Hut personal pan pepperoni pizza 640 cal
Dibs with Nestle Crunch 380 cal

Yeah, that's it.  1500 calories even.  My goal every day is 1300 - 1500 Cal.  Won't be eating so badly from here on out because I'm out of money on my meal card at school and won't get a refill until August.

I'm so excited to find this group, I am soooo a Monday weigher! After almost a year of being off track on a good food plan, I am finally ready to get back ON plan!

Hi, this is just what I need to keep me going, it's been so hard lately trying to loose some or any weight that having a place where to come and read is very encouraging. I put the weight during my last pregnancy, 7 years ago, Uhhhh, I know, I tried everything, but it wasn't that easy this time, so here I'm again this time, I appreciate all the help that I can get.

I dropped thirty two years ago, but it was through depression and not replicateable. Then I gained ten back. So here we go again! More happily and healthily, hopefully, as I'm back to eating well and will be getting exercise as well.

Hi blindtiger , I think never is "late", for no one, but one thing, are you ready?? I'm looking for the same thing here, "motivation", we need to change the way we think about the way we eat, that's for sure, for me is a very difficult thing have to make dinner everyday, is something that I really would like to end, " no more cooking" !!! But going back to your post, don't feel that way,  there is always time, and if you feel like the time is now, good for you!!!!!

I am having a much harder time this time around than the previous times. It feels impossible to stay under my target caloric intake, and I haven't since I started on Monday. All the previous times I dieted with CC I could easily stay under, and often times found myself forcing myself to eat to stay healthy.

But, I know I am making much better choices than I used to, so while I may not see as big of a loss (or a loss at all) come Monday, at least I know I've stopped PUTTING ON weight at the rate I was before!

Tempting fate - me too on Calories, except for that one day I hit 1500 exactly.  I do hope to see a little bit of a change because I did spend some extra time walking around on and off this week.

Lost a pound and a half this week to make 14 pounds lost total!

I'm getting annoyed sometimes by how slow it's all going.  At the same time, I'm very happy I'm making steady progress. 

 

This was difficult, the first 4 day were ok, but the weekend ! I had to many "out of the diet" stops , but still happy I did loose some weight .

 

Last Monday 4-27-09   = 199 lb

this Monday  5-04-09   = 196 lb


I lost  3 pounds this week ! that's very encouraging for me
