Monday weigh-in for 50-somethings
Hi all
I'm brand new here (just started yesterday.) I've always hated weighing myself but I guess I have to see my progress (or lack thereof.)
Anyone want to be part of a 50-something Monday morning weigh-in group? I'd love some "company".
Good luck!
Barbara
Barbara, I too have a love hate relationship with the scale. In the past I was always told that to only weigh once a week otherwise you might get too fixated on that number on the scale. Now I hear more often that to keep weight gain under control one should weight daily. I haven't been able to carry through with daily weighings but think your Monday weigh in will be a motivator for me. I would gladly participate in the Monday weigh in. I joined in January but then had to go out of town for 3 weeks. I am just now getting back on track. Good luck to you and will check in tomorrow. Miki
Hi Miki
Thanks for responding. I NEVER, EVER weigh myself. Even when I go to the doctor I close my eyes because I don't want to see the bad news. When I joined CC the other day I bit the bullet and saw that I had gained 12 lbs over the past year or so (which of course I knew because of the way my clothes fit - or didn't fit!)
Anyway I will weigh myself tomorrow morning at 7:30 (EST) and I will post it here. It should be 140, because that's what it was the other day when I finally got on the scale.
I'd like to lose about 15 lbs.
Good luck and thanks again.

Yuck!! I'm 2 lbs MORE than I was two days ago. And I exercised and stuck to the 1500 calories! Did I mention I hate the scale? Oh well, I'm not going to get discouraged (and I'm not going to get on the scale again until next Monday!)
Hopefully others had better luck!

I'll join in - I lost 1.3 pounds this week (I love digital scales)!
I've never been a fan of daily weighing, although I did read recently that "research says" it is correlated with successful weight management. I think if I could tolerate the daily ups and downs, and look for overall trends, it would be great. But I can't - so I stick with that one number a week.
Let's all drink lots of water this week and have a positive outcome next Monday!
I too am brand new to this site. It sounds motivating and maybe some fun too?
I would like to join the Monday morning weigh in. That was always a motivator for me when I was in W.W. (more than once I hate to say). I keep telling myself that I will be good tommorrow but that never comes. But looking forward to a weigh in that others will know about is a good way to get serious.
Thanks for the challenge. Good luck to all!
Phyllis
I'm so glad you guys decided to join my Monday weigh-ins! Hopefully next Monday the scale will head in the correct direction!!!

I almost forgot to weigh that's how much I love the scale. Don't laugh but I lost .25 lb and I am OK with that. I never weigh at the doctor's office either...simply tell them that I know what I weigh and leave it at that. But, I realize now that is what got me into trouble. I avoided mirrors, plate glass windows and never let my picture be taken. I finally saw a picture of myself and though I knew I was in trouble I had no idea how bad I looked. I have 50-60 lbs to lose and know that it will be slow and difficult but need to do this for my health's sake. I do not have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes and want to make sure I don't develop it. Our Monday weigh in group will hopefully make me more aware of the calories I consume and give me accountability that I so need. Thanks for your support and input. Miki
Is it ok to join this group if I use Friday as my Monday? You could just consider me one of those perpetually slow to arrive people. Or one of those annoyingly always early types.
I enjoy the pattern I have set -
if I gain weight by Friday I can blame it on work stressors.
if I lose weight by Friday I can yell Go Me for winning out over those work stressors.
Anyway, I'll report in for this Monday on Friday...or if you prefer will report for next Monday tomorrow.
what a great website this is. Love all the reminders to choose well.
You can ABSOLUTELY join the group and weigh yourself whenever you want. I'm just so happy to have people to share this journey with.
GO YOU!
Hiya....
Count me in as we count the pounds off. When I first started on this site (a couple of weeks ago) I was weighing myself everyday... too many fluctuations for me, so I would like to get in the habit of once a week weigh ins.
See ya this Monday. ![]()

Happy Friday to everyone! I started weekly weighing on Tuesdays, but would like to join you on Mondays if that's okay. I lost 2 lb. the first week - then nothing last week. I have to get with the exercise -- boo-hoo to having to watch Grey's Anatomy AND Private Practice in one sitting...
Have a good weekend!
Kris
Hi Kris
Glad you could join our group. Don't feel bad about not having lost weight last week. I bet the scale will tell a very different story Monday!
I watched Grey's and Private Practice last night too! I adore Amy Brenneman and I'm SO glad Addison's sleazy brother is gone.
Have a great weekend.

Hello Everyone!
I did my weigh in and find that I've lost 5 pounds in the past two weeks! The first 3+ came off quickly, the last bit a little slower, but steady. Quite the confidence builder and since my Weigh In Monday is Friday, maybe it will help keep me more on track this weekend.
CC and 50-somethings have been a terrific way to keep motivated. Another 5-10 pounds and maybe my arthritis will let me know how appreciative it is. Right now though, my fat cells are screaming "We're shrinking! Please send fat!!!"
I laugh at them and tell them to shut up. Of course people look at me strangely when I do that.
I wish all of you a GREAT weekend!
Happy Sunday everyone. I've been down with the flu since Thursday. Bad news is that I haven't exercised at all since last Tuesday. I've been obsessing about this because I NEVER go this long without walking or doing some kind of workout.
Good news is that my appetite hasn't been that active since I basically can't swallow or breathe. So I guess my weight will be down tomorrow. But I don't really feel like I worked hard to make any weight loss happen. Oh well, I guess I should just be pleased if I lost a pound or two.
I bought a new digital scale the other day. I've had my bathroom scale since I got married in 1982 and since I can't even see the numbers anymore, I decided to bit ethe bullet and get a scale I could actually see! Yuck!
So good luck tomorrow everone. Hope you all had a good week!
Barb
Your new scale may weigh you heavier or lighter than your old scale, bwg514. When I switched scales I weighed myself on the old one, then on the new one, and found I weighed more on the new one. So while that meant I had to re-calculate my pounds lost and my goal, at least I knew I hadn't gained 2.4 pounds moving from one place in the bathroom to the other!
Funny how sometimes we don't want to accept weight loss if we haven't "earned" it. But I sure as shootin' take the blame for every pound I gain even if it's water weight!
